- This was such a good arc in the comics, a shame that TCW screwed up the timeline

This could and should have been adapted into Clone Wars as an arc.
A lot of legends’ storylines should have been made into clone wars arcs.
@@thetexanjedi95 Given an age rating bump, Praesitlin would have helped explain Barriss Offee's turn a lot.
The Rendili Dreadnought Mersel Kebir is likely named for Mers-el-Kébir the port where the British Royal Navy demanded the surrender of the now neutral French fleet in WWII shortly after France had surrendered to Germany. When poor judgement and communication on both sides resulted in the French refusing to turn their ships over to the British or sail to America to be interned the British bombed the French fleet killing over a thousand French sailors.
Ah yes, the negotiator
General Grievous. You're shorter than I expected.
We have a job to do Anakin. Try not to upset him
@maddawgoutdoors9243 your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection
@@josevictorionunez9312 😂😂 a fellow man of culture I see
Mersel Kebir is a reference to the Royal Navy attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir.
It's a fitting tribute to a complex and tragic historical situation.
Absolutely perfect allusion!
Rendili: People are gonna love the new ship we made with Kuat for the Republic Navy. The Victory-class Star Destroyer, backbone of the Republic.
KDY: Introducing the new backbone of the Republic. The Venator-class Star Destroyer made exclusively by Kuat.
Rendili: Aww come on!
Much later on
CIS: Hey Rendili want to switch sides?
Rendili: Sure why not.
Navy: Not if we have anything to say about it.
Hey, the VSD is an awesome ship!
I know that the Victory is a cool ship (even though I prefer the Venator) I was reenacting what Rendili were going through
@@jamiewalsh3349 Ah, that makes sense.
@@theevildrummingsithlord1492 It's better than later star destroyers but carriers are objectively better than battleships.
@@alex52043 Well, that is true.
Quite informative, helps when writing stories
Agreed.
You've made so many episodes about "The most important battle of the clone wars"
Now tell us about the least important battle of the clone wars.
Your moms lightsaber , a weapon of a Jedi knight
Mers el Kebir?? A real world battle took place there. The bristsh fleet sunk a bunch of the french navy there, because they didn't want the destroyer to fall into ennemy's hands if I remember correctly.
If this was recanonized, I can picture Commander Wolffe and Captain Rex being supporting players for the Republic.
I can actually imagine Rex trying to cover for Anakin when Obi-Wan or Saesee ask him where Anakin is?
And it’s always nice to see Plo and Commander Wolffe fighting side by side
All good ideas.
But we'd also need to figure out what to do with Vos. Since Dooku doesn't have more than one Dark Acholety at a time in the new canon of the Clone Wars, so Vos can't be spying. However, given the Council did give him the mission to kill Dooku late in the war, he teamed up with Ventress for that, and the fact that the Battle of Rendili happened only a month before the Outer Rim Sieges where the first battle was the Battle of Boz Pity where Ventress last appeared in Legends, I could totally see Vos and Ventress at Rendili in secret to pick up clues on Dooku's location, eventually leading them to Boz Pity for the battle where Ventress dies during a fight she, Vos, Obi-Wan, and Anakin have with Dooku and some MagnaGuards.
Big difference between freedom fighters and anarchy.
Without negotiations there would only be anarchy.
Hello there
@@lacucaracha111111 General Kenobi. You are a bold one.
Too bad this wasn't in the Clone Wars TV series itself. Because it would've been a fun story arc.
Agreed. I may love the Clone Wars TV series, but there were some good stories from Legends they could have made Canon like this one with some tweaks to the story here and there, like with Vos.
Oh well, that's what fanfics are for I guess. lol.
This is Canon for me!
minor correction: the CIS led by Grievous himself sent 2 Lucrehulk core ships, one got destroyed and the other (with Grievous) retreated and saved Ventress who was stranded on the Titavian IV along with Tol Skorr
I love how the flagship of the Rendili fleet is Mersel Kebir. Very fitting name if you know history.
The name Mersel Kebir sounds like it had been taken directly from the battle in which the Royal Navy had been forced to sink the French Navy battleships moored there
Great episode, thanks for the update.
Sonic and Star Wars are kinda similar with the freedom fighters fighting for whats right and for a better tomorrow.
And both franchises had a major retconning and decanonization.
Along with a heavy use of machines as enemies and allies.
@@mill2712 that's true plus the Jedi and Sith use basic telekinesis for their Force powers via Silver the Hedgehog but Silver can fly and characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia the Ghost crew from Rebels are freedom fighters.
Sonic has lore?
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem All three Sonic comic universes had or have lore. Archie Sonic, IDW sonic, and Fleetway Sonic.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem Well there's the Archie Comics and IDW there like the legends Knuckles and the Master Emerald has history to it as it was handed down to each echidna.
Love that the Rendili flag ship is called Mer el Kibir.
A lot of legends’ storylines should have been made into clone wars arcs.
If they do decide to capitalize on the hype for live action clone wars after ahsoka, this is what they should do. Instead of adapting what we’ve already seen, they could take battles from the comics and legends. I doubt they’ll actually ever do it, but it would be cool af.
Makes me smile, know that i still have this comic in the garage ^^
If the Battle of Rendili did not plot armor that happened to be having the main characters of Star Wars being there, then Rendili will have no choice but to join the Separatists and the Clones Wars will ended in favor of the Separatists Alliance.
Aggressive negotiations
This is exactly the type of diversity, politics, action and skywalker f*ckery of an arc we need and needed in SW - TCW
9:52-9:56: I have not read the comic arc this battle comes from, but I do know of it because I watched your video you did on the battle two years ago. This video was pretty good, but I think I liked the first one better, much like how I liked you're first video on the Battle of Umbara with the Map Visuals more than the newer one you did a while back, which thankfully means I don't have to replace the first one on my playlist of "A Chronology of the major battles of The Clone Wars" it's mostly just all the video of you talking about the major battles, with four exceptions which are Generation Tech videos that are for battles you've yet to properly discuss, Kamino(at least you hadn't made that video on the space battles until after I made the playlist), Mon Cala, Anaxes, and the Siege of Mandalor.
This battle would still likely result in the loss of production from Rendili shipyards as it sounds like the local government and the people of Rendili still would want to join the CIS. This would likely result in the world having to be garrisoned and the world engaging in guerilla warfare against the garrisons with the general support of the Rendili government. Also to note, it is likely that the officers who defected to the Republic would never be allowed to return to their planet under threat of summary execution upon return even and especially after the Republic turned into the tyrannical empire, this would make the people of Rendili think they were even more right for wanting to join the separatists and that "maybe the CIS could have won" if they joined. As strange as it sounds the officers move to support the Republic over their own planet is an unprecedented and wild move, just imagine if the US Navy supported the will of the United Nations over that of America, that's what we're talking about.
Us Americans don’t like the UN very much…they keep trying to do our job 😂 (for anyone reading this, this is what’s called satire)
Does this replace the katanga story line?
Bruh said Scorp-ion instead of scorpion. WTF man? 😂😂😂
👍
The Senate would still win regardless.
Padme: Why can’t I negotiate like that?
Satine: Why did I go pacifist again?
Mina: ~sipping tea~
Lux: And this is why I joined a terrorist cell.
I feel that you don't listen to what you're saying.
The Rendili PDF didn't serve the Republic, they served Rendili AS THEIR DEFENCE FLEET. I feel that you don't understand the difference here. It's like listening to a Seppo Southerner who believes that putting on blue berets turns normal US troops into some kind of UN 5th column.
If the head of the Rendili Fleet chose the Republic over his own people, you should be asking why. Had he been captured by the famous corruption inherent in the Republic at that time? Was he trying to dodge accountability for purely internal matters by attempting to Federalize himself and his fellows? Why was this guy so willing to turn traitor?
Aggressive negotiations will always be better than the standard Jedi negotiations, pulling out a lightsaber definitely would get everyone’s attention.
