They used to call peach “Princess Toadstool” and Bowser “King Koopa” so it makes sense that those would be there last name
its funny bc in japan they still call bowser as king koopa
In the older games Princess Peach used to be called Princess Toadstool. Then I also think they use both names in some games.
And Bowser multiple times has been referred to as King Koopa

The original names for Peach and Bowser were Princess Toadstool and King Koopa, as well as in the cartoons Toadstool had brown(ish?) hair and Koopa was green. I can see why they used the old names with the new names

It’s cool seeing that bowsers name is “bowser koopa” because the Japanese name for bowser is koopa, making both names accurate
Miyamoto really cranking out creative names here.
I think maybe why Link Link works is because in all Zelda games prior to BotW and TotK you could name Link whatever you wanted, so his name would be [your chosen name] Link (for me, it would be Twix Link). This way you're still Link, no matter what you choose his name to be.

i think link is just called link link because in most games his parents are either not present, or they are rarely mentioned, and in the games where his parents are present or mentioned there arent many similarities between them throughout the series, meaning his last name changes throughout the series, and since hes not the only link throughout the world of hyrule its like specifying that you like like someone, as opposed to just liking them
I think some of his family members were in Windwaker, correct me if I’m wrong.
