Hey everyone! How’s it going, I’ve been rock climbing all day - glorious! Mark
Your day sounds better than mine haha! Sounds like you had fun (I hate heights)
Is that a euphemism 😂
How bad is the pop in on switch?
Remember the shoulder button doesn't grab onto the edge, I'd need to improve my stamina bar for rock climbing, enjoy the sights! Take some happy snaps when your at the top, catchya on the next one 😎
@@damienkrawczuk1435 Strap on yer crampons!
I tried No Man’s Sky on my Switch this morning and omg I was blown away by how much better it looks and runs!! No longer does it look blurry or fuzzy! Now it’s so sharp and looks great! Hello Games are rockstars among developers! Great job!
If you play for a while you will get really hard fps drops…
Too bad no multiplayer either
Still on the fence on purchasing it :/
@@zm8663that's sounds like a personal problem.
You mean to say AMD are the rockstars. The sharpness is due to FSR 2 implementation
Thanks for this video; the ‘all patched up’ videos have fast become a firm favourite of mine and more than once it’s got me to back to a game I’d dropped, or reconsider buying because I’d heard bad performance reviews on release. This this video is hugely appreciated!
Also; massive shout out to the No Mans Sky devs - the support it’s received since release on Switch is amazing
Great to hear they take a while so it’s nice people like them. Cheers mate
I absolutely do, and the care that goes into making them shows. I think it’s great for gamers and dev teams; it shows who’s putting the work in to get their games running as best they can on Switch, and it helps gamers make an informed choice.
I absolutely agree. I always watch the patched up videos, when a new one comes out, love it. Keep it up!
I’m glad to see these developers who actually work hard to optimize these games on the Switch and add something like FSR 2.0 really bodes well for the next Switch, especially with these rumors we are hearing of what it can do. Here’s to hoping optimizing things to near perfection is the sim of the next generation
PLEASE continue on this series of videos. It's very helpful! Thank you
Actually playing No Man’s Sky while listening to you and I’m absolutely in heaven. I never thought it would look this good on Switch. My hat’s off to Hello Games.
I cannot say enough how much I appreciate that you revisit games after patches to give updates on how they play. I've picked up several after you reported that they were working much better after the fixes.
Honestly, you guys are doing gamers and developers such a service. I wouldn't be surprised if Sean Murray himself watches your videos, and is now pushing his team to make the stars look better.
Haha that would be very cool! Mark
You can really tell those who care about the games they make. Thanks for doing this series!
I absolutely love your videos on patches and how you revisit some games. I wish there was a channel dedicated to this specifically. Thank you for double dipping on these games!
I love how you guys cover the gambit from patches, sales, reviews and upcoming games. Keep it the good work
Thanks mate
1000 hours in PC No mans sky? Yep, its official you are a man of exquisite taste. I knew there was a reason i liked you.
No mans sky is my favorite pc and switch game. You probably got that
I just bought No Man's Sky last week so i was able to get pretty good impressions of both the old version and the new update and the differences are like night and day, Hello Games did a great job!
But i have to say that i did have some freezes whenever i tried to leave a space station, which is especially annoying during nexus missions.
This is actually my favorite type of video because not enough people do these. I just got a Switch 10 months ago and reviews are done when the game first came out and could have been fixed in the last several years.
Still love this series so much! Really appreciate you going back to games after patches
Absolutely love watching you guys! Thank you for the awesome videos!
Thanks mate is appreciated
Ha, just noticed the NMS had finally arrived and i thought I'd jump on here to see if you guys could do a comparison vid and well you'd already done one. Good work. Also nice to hear the wind and bees back in Witcher. Was a bit stupid when Gerald growled 'winds howling' and it wasn't 😂
Love these videos. I have my eyes on RDR as an upcoming purchase but that little snippet of Witcher 3 ambiance may have finally convinced me I need to give it a go. Love to feel like I'm in a living world...
You know you've gotten too into Moonlighter when you have a visceral response to the music. It took me a moment to realize that it doesn't even need a patch!
I love how you still keep Moonlighter theme as your background music while explaining. Moonlighter really caught my heart.
keep doing this kind of revisiting! Amazing content really help us a lot. thank you!
Still amazing No Mans Sky runs on Switch. Good to see continued dedication from devs!! Nice vid
I'm just 4 and a half hours into No Man's Sky, I got it when it was on sale. It seems like I got into it at the perfect time.
When devs make the most out of the Switch for games like No Man's Sky, it really puts other devs to shame. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet really have no excuse.
And I played full price for that hideous game 🤡
Lol their excuse is that it's Pokemon and people will buy that every year no matter the visuals or performance
Really love this series, thanks so much for doing it. Would love to request another look at XEL since the last patch you looked at was 1.04 and now they are up to 1.06.
You are good at what you do and what you do is pleasing.
Definitely appreciate this type of content. I'm still praying GTA definitive collection gets another patch that finally smoothes everything out and I get to see that here and will finally pick it up
I think it's really helpful revisit games with new patches. Frequently I look at games to buy, and I only find mostly day one reviews that no longer represent that actual state of the game, And in cases where the devs put out the time to improve is good if someone covers that As someone who used to travel a lot before the pandemic, I took always one of my consoles with me (X1 S and X, PS4 or Switch). For longer trips is okay bring the bigger boys, but the Switch is my go to consgle when the luggage capacity or space is limited. Therefore, I'm buying lots of Switch games from the past 2-3 years. And it's nice that I found your channel, that gives what I needed for, review of games but also the post-launch patches review. Thank you!!!
Seriously one of the best series on CZcams.
Reviewing patches is a must on switch really, I mainly play games on the go now as I travel for work and leisure. And waiting for the right patch is a must when you don't have enough time at home to play on more powerful hardware. Gonna install No Man's Sky at last this weekend.. Keep making these!
I did have an issue earlier with nms, a freighter didn't load in when I teleport over to fix it. Not a big deal, but a new one on me. I'm still loving it, the new patch is terrific! Much better than the crash loop I had before 😁
Great video as always, thank you. Just wanted to check if you were planning to do a fae farm review?
Always happy to see devs taking pride in their work and putting forth the time and effort it takes to make the gaming experiences exactly what they intended them to be.
Thanks for putting effort in revisiting released games just as these game devs put effort in updating their games
I've been waiting on your verdict on the Witcher. Finally ready to play!
The revisiting stuff is a great format
All I'm gonna say is playing starfield has just made me wanna play NMS instead 😂
Its so hard to find videos showing the changes between patchs. Please, do more videos like this.
thanks for the vid! I am just planning on possibly picking up no man sky this Christmas : )
This series is great!
I love the moonlighter soundtrack playing in the background🤙🏽🤙🏽
Glad to see that the port for red dead is so good! Holding out for black Friday or holiday sales before I get it though but it's sooo tempting!
I have over 800 hours into NMS on the Switch (more on other platforms previously), and while I'm incredibly grateful for the graphical upgrades (and the addition of capes - finally!), this update has caused a *lot* more crashes for some of us. In fact, I am completely unable to finish the new quest because my game crashes so consistently in one of the areas the quest requires you to visit. I've heard mixed reviews from other Switch players regarding this update - some aren't having many issues at all, some are literally stuck in crash cycles and unable to play. And everything in between.
My biggest issue is the way Hello Games releases major updates so late on the Switch. I've heard all kinds of claims in their defense - the most common being that it's all Nintendo's fault and it's entirely up to Nintendo when updates get published once submitted. This just isn't true, as *plenty* of developers (including even smaller indie teams) consistenly manage simultaneous multiplatform releases on games which include the Switch in their lineup. Others have said it's not fair for PC users to have their release held up because of the Switch... but the reality is Hello Games is already holding up the PC release until all consoles *except* the Switch are ready to go. It's not like they're instantly publishing these updates on PC the minute the dev team finishes working on them, and telling Playstation, Xbox, and Mac users, "eh, you'll get it when you get it." But that's the message we get on Switch - despite paying the same price for the game as all those other platforms.
In the end, the Switch port of NMS is pretty good - when it works. People just need to know going into it that major updates will arrive on average a couple weeks later than on other platforms, and patches are even more delayed than that. Even with this latest update, by the time the Switch got Echoes we were (and are) already four patches behind everyone else (six behind the experimental build on PC). Hello Games also left around half of Switch players with our games in an entirely unplayable state for over three months, just a few months after launch, while consistently pushing out patch after patch for much more minor issues to every other platform.
Tl;dr: If you can play NMS on any other platform, do so (again, this is coming from someone with hundreds of hours in the Switch build). If you don't have anything else to play it on, and don't mind waiting quite awhile for major updates to be not only released, but patched up enough to be stable (which they rarely are upon initial release), there's a ton of value for money in this game. Know what you're getting into - know that the Switch build simply doesn't receive equal consideration from the devs overall - and set your expectations accordingly. This game is truly great, but the way HG handles updates leaves a lot to be desired.
The update before Echoes had NMS running smoothly. Not one crash while fighting sentinel freighters. with echoes its crashed twice and one of those times i just put the game in sleep mode.
THx for your work !
OH YEA THIS IS WHAT I WANTED! NICE VIDEO I DIDNT EVEN WATCH IT BUT I KNOW IT
Mark, I like this type of content!
I *just* started playing No Mans Sky on Switch last week so this patch is perfect timing ^^
Most of the crashes I've seen have been from the stations trying to get back on to my capital ship.
Yes! Waiting for the No man's sky update ;)
Out today 👍
Haven't played No Mans Sky for a while, this is a great excuse to boot her up again!
(and say goodbye to my next couple of months)
Cheers for the updates guys
The moonlighter music always puts me in a good mood
I still can't believe how great No Man's Sky is on switch.
I grabbed NMS when it was sale last week with no real expectations (my only knowledge really was the original disappointing PC launch)...... and I'm completely blown away - what an amazing game.
Love this series
RDR is looking very nice!
NMS & Witcher run ok here 😊
Great video! Hopefully the people you reached out to about Mortal Shell responds soon.. It's a great game that needs a bit of a touch up on the switch
Hello Games did an amazing job with NMS. Incredible amount of work and FREE
i like this type of content.
Cheers to using the Moonlighter music in the background.
A glorious soundtrack
Great analysis as always guys, as we are talking games that could REALLY do with a patch to sort their performance out any chance you guys could look at Tormented Souls and prod the devs to enable a 30FPS cap and optimise around that? In the games current state frame rate is all over the place ranging from 20FPS to 60FPS, sometimes in no more than a camera angle change. Ys VIII Lacrimosa of DANA is another one that's in desperate need of a patch as well try playing it past the opening boat prologue in docked mode and you're greeted with god awful image shimmer all over the place thats either due to absolutely zero TAA being used or mipmaps on the diffuse textures being removed. In the case of the latter simply releasing a patch that has the mipmaps for the ground, cliff faces, and grass would be a substantial improvement (and for anyone wondering, adding mipmaps to a texture takes seconds). Devs that care would fix these things :)
Omg I was so surprised at how sharp No Man’s Sky looks on the latest update 😳! I was reluctant to believe adding AMD fidelityFX would make any difference but the visual improvement is massive 🙌🏻
Always like these- I don't own any of these games (I know- terrible!) But it's great to see them evolve and get better. Well most of them. Means I can pick them up in a great state.
As a series regular- will we be seeing Pokemon when the DLC drops next week? I've seen many people trying to hype up that the graphics and performance are looking better in the DLC but I'm not convinced 😅
Nice upload, thanks
I played the Switcher 3 after you said ambient sounds were gone, and it made it almost unplayable. I played last night and it was like a warm blanket hearing the wind through the trees again.
I literally bought no man's sky from the eshop sale yesterday, 2 hours before the sale ended. Barjan for 20 quid.
Gonna grab NMS tomorrow, I’m ready for more
Maybe I will trying playing Red Dead Redemption with Nintendo Switch, it looks surprising good on Switch but first I'll try it with Ps4. Im interested of playing No man's sky on Switch too. Switchup your Nintendo Switch videos are awesome will you do video what you wish to see from next Nintendo Direct? Im hyped. 🔥🔥
Always interested in the all patched up vids, even if I don’t own the games.
I picked up NMS in the current sale and I have to say I’m about to bounce off it. Multiple crashes and I’ve had to just abandon some of the planets because the frame rate dips and stuttering on the surface made the thing utterly unplayable. If it was a new game I’d say it wasn’t ready for show time. A shame because I really want to like it.
Super cool :)) 🔥🔥🔥
I think that vertical lines in No Man's Sky are some kind of effect from the interface, I already noticed them in the original release for Switch and in the early patch.
After playing some games that haven't been optimized on Switch these updates make me happy.
The Moonlighter music is so memorable and over-used as bgm on videos it makes me want to play that game again, enough though It don't have any surprises left for me. :/
Bought nms two weeks ago and haven't slept since, but don't worry, i catch a quick nap every time i teleport to one of my bases in another system...honestly it's amazing i can play it at all on what is essentially a smart phone that can't make phone calls...
Trek to Yomi runs beautifully on the switch, gosh that game makes me miss Onimusha, will probably never happen but would love to see a sequel to Trek to Yomi, might be black n white just like the asthedic of samarui movies of yesteryear, but my giddy aunt it's gorgeous, the fire effects, shading, trees blowing in the breeze, lighting textures, ambience and sound design, this game is absolutely phenomenal and makes me crave a sequel something fierce, and it's performs incredibly well, in my mind it's nothing short of a masterpiece everyone needs to play, and yeah The Witcher runs even better after its performance update too, that game is incredible, I'll get back to The Witcher but I'm enjoying my Trek to Yomi way too much, and I got it on sale for an Aussie 18 bucks! You ripper that's cheap
I keep hearing about no man's sky... Still haven't pulled the trigger yet, but this gets me that much closer
Love these videos
Yeah apparently the devs of No Man's Sky modified FSR 2 specifically for the Switch version of the game, and it shows. Crazy kind of optimisation.
RDR i was having to have my Oled switch's brightness set to at least 50% to get a decent image and the volume near max to hear the music..these both seem to be fixed for me. I can have brightness set to about a quarter and the sound mixing seems perfect now!
I still need to play the two Witcher DLCs, but now that the Switch got the next gen update, I was able to sync it over to my PS5. I had been playing between Steam & Switch but finished it on Switch. Unfortunately, I hadn't pushed the save up to Steam when that cross-save integration broke, so the end of the game was stranded on my Switch. (That happened at the same time to DOS2 as well, so I think it was a change on the Steam side of the equation. But Larian fixed it in DOS2 in a matter of days, while CDPR was too busy between 2077 and the next-gen update for TW3 to spend time on it, I think.)
And with PS5 shortages having been resolved, I was finally able to get one for my bedroom, so I'll definitely be doing the DLCs in 4k on the PS5 instead, as much as I liked handheld mode on the Switch. Of course, I won't get to that _anytime_ soon with the massive time sink that is BG3 😂 But that's fine... having too many amazing games at once is a great problem to have. Somehow, I doubt I'll be close to done with BG3 when Spider-Man 2 comes out, too.
I do really hope that Telltale 2.0 ports over The Expanse to the Switch, that's been a nice change of pace for a few hours every 2 weeks, and those kinds of game (TWD, Life Is Strange, TWAU, and the like) are absolutely _ideal_ for the Switch in handheld mode. I really hope it happens so that Switch owners can enjoy it as well, and I'd definitely do another run-through on it if they do deliver it.
I like this type of content. Just letting you know 😉
If its possible in future fixed videos it would be nice to have the size of the patch.
Elf's Head - Slightly over-ripened, troll delicacy.
"Like ripened TO-MAAT-OH."
That's the funniest thing I've ever seen in the Witcher 3! 🤣
i quite enjoy this series of going back to patched games!
At this point I might buy no mans sky just because of the Team constantly making the port better and better, even though I am not a big Fan of sanbox games.
I own Witcher 3 on too many platforms now its becoming silly now.
Red Dead well that blew me away on PS3 so I can assume its just as good now.
But No Mans Sky amazes me, it just keeps aging like fine wine. I am so close to just getting it and satisfying my curiosity.
It might be that next game that makes me sit in my couch for hours playing, sitting like a monkey with bad posture while I lose feeling in my hands after holding my switch for 5 hours straight.
🤓🤓
Rewatching some of your videos and made me think do you have any dream patches? For switch games that never got one or you felt needed more for certain things?
No mans sky is something truly special, have it on my ps4 and switch
One of my favorite series. Given up on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. :(
Don’t know how I missed die after sunset. Looks like it’d be fun if they sort that camera out Mark. 😵💫😵💫😵💫
The new 4.4.0 update on NNS also seem to break something with the graphics for me that gives me a big colored glitched box when using beams and such for a hot second before it goes back to normal
Please tell me where the background music in the first half of this video comes from. It sounds so familiar and it's driving me crazy that I can't pinpoint what it comes from.
I haven't had any crashes playing the new No Man's Sky update on Switch, but the image froze for about two seconds and when it started moving again the framerate dropped to about 10 fps. I had to save the game and reload it again. That happened three times in about 10 hours of gameplay. The game does look better, though.
The best channel on yt? YOU!
The NMS update is amazing, but I feel like the terrain manipulator lag (time between firing the manipulator and the terrain changing) has gotten worse. That's really been my only gripe with the port, which is still a miracle in many ways, and it's a relatively minor issue that doesn't spoil the game at all. Even prior to the update I was content with the appearance, but obviously this is a huge and unexpected improvement. I'm curious why ToTK didn't use FSR2, since they were implementing FSR anyway, but I'm sure they had a good reason.
Have there been any updates to Tunic and its performance issues?
Moonlighter music? I have to like the video.
I’ve only had one Infinite Loading screen with RDR. Otherwise it’s great.
Lmao the bee joke xD
There are not enough reviews for games that have gone through several patches. Most reviews are for launch day. Sometimes I’ll be picking up a game a year or two after release and the game is entirely different. Definitely like patch / update content. Perhaps “One year later” reviews (for games with a few logged patches).
