    Aces! Just Aces! Thx for the video. Worked like a charm! My seal was badly torn at the bottom and all the other "quick" fixes on CZcams failed hard. Great instructional.
    Pro tips:
    -Follow video closely
    -Buy the right size door seal for your machine
    -Don't skimp on the dish soap around the seal when installing
    -It's a bit tricky to get the first, inside lip done. Start at the top and hold it in place while running your thumb or finger around the edge and the seal will slip into place with the help of the soap.
    -Get a second pair of hands to hold the spring loaded wire in place at the end while you work the rest around the seal.

    Phew! Just finished, the tutorial helped, but made it look a lot easier than it is! The washing up liquid tip was really useful.
    Note that on our newer model Samsung machine, you tighten the screw on the inner band to loosen it, rather than loosening the screw as logic would dictate.

    Hi - I'm mid way through and this video is really helpful. My machine is an ecobubble 7kg bought in 2014 (WF70F5E2W4W/EU). Luckily the inner wire screw is in the same place as in the video, but on my model the wire tightens in the opposite direction - so if it doesn't seem to be loosening try turning to the right. They have overlapped the wires so as you tighten the screw you are actually pushing the 2 ends of the wire further apart - once you get it off it will make sense!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 8 lety +1

      +Simon Hill Hi Simon, thanks for your comments. On this one you can see the clamp from around 2:00 and in this case as the screw is tightened it draws the two ends of the clamp together to prevent the seal letting water passed.

    I agree, have fitted to seals last week and one more tomorrow. The inner retainer is extremely tight using screwdrivers to push it back into the grove.
    Then the seal comes back off.
    Even if you undo the spring and try to pull it together that’s not easy either, hence I need a second pair of hands

    Great general tutorial; however, it is much easier to put everything back together if you go through a few extra steps to remove the front door and cover. It only takes an extra five minutes, but it will save the frustration of trying to get the bands back on the bottom if the drum without being able to see anything.

      Hi Alex, if we have more information we may be able to help. Are you saying the front edge of the drum is rubbing on the door seal?. And does this problem happen when the machine is having a 'shaky' spin with heavy washing?. Does the machine spin OK when empty or is it still noisy?. Watch this video first as it may explain how the problem could be due to the wash load:

    I'm running into an issue that I'm not sure if it caused by the door gasket or if I've read correctly elsewhere that it might be the Spider assembly.
    My washer just started making very loud noises during the spin cycle and it kind of shudders a bit.
    I've looked at the springs and the shock absorbers and they both look good. The front gaskets though looks like it is warped a bit on the inside part and after each spin cycle there appears to be grey rubber shavings that come off into the tub.
    The entire thing runs great until the spin cycle at the end.
    So I'm guessing even if it's not just the gasket that I will have to replace that now as well due to the issues it has taken on. What are your thoughts espares?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 7 lety

      Hi Joshua, spiders do not often fail but bearings do wear. Carefully put a slight upward pressure on the rim of the drum and look at the gap between the drum and the seal. If the gap varies as you lift the drum is shows play in the bearings and they are likely to be worn. For more information see our drum diagnosis and bearing videos: czcams.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=wUL5Wb1T71c and czcams.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=XaFF2-Rl8Nc

    • @trailb4u
      @trailb4u Před 6 lety

      Hi Joshua, my spider failed causing drum to rub on rubber seal. The bearings and seal were still good. The cause of my spider breaking was corrosion from a buildup of laundry detergent solids in hollow spaces of die cast spider bracket. This caused spider to crumble into little pieces which collected in rubber hose at bottom of washer tub. If you take back cover off of your machine and remove the bottom rubber hose, you may find it is chock full of aluminum granules. If full of these crumbs, your spider has certainly failed.
      Mine lasted about 6 years before failure. I decided to replace my spider (as well as door seal and bearing seal), but I sand blasted spider and gave it a coating of thick toughened marine epoxy before installing it. It's working again, but I expect to get much more than 6 years of life from spider bracket this time. Samsung needs to put a protective coating on all of their spider brackets at factory.

    Does the instructions are valid for the WD8854RJF model?
    Thanks.

      Hi Alvaro, funny you should ask this now. We are doing a Samsung washer dryer seal this week but it will not be edited and published for several weeks. The process will be very similar but there is a 'duct' at the top that allows the drying heat into the drum that also has to be fitted. Watch this video and another to 'supplement' this:

    I have a Samsung J10451W1 XS A the door latch ZV466L Has burn marks on it so the error code is de. I .ca replace the latch switch but because the plug has also got burn marks and melted on to the latch I'm having to replace the wiring any help would be appreciated

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 6 lety

      Hi Jacqui, it is likely the burning was caused by a connector that was not fitted tightly as this causes heat when current goes through it. While it is possible for an 'amateur' to replace the connectors it has to be done right or it could be a potential fire hazard. We would recommend this is done by someone with experience of fitting these connectors like a mechanic or electrician/ engineer and not one for beginners.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi wjaiv, the hardest part is getting enough access to the screw to be able to release it, try a lubricant to help shift it.

      @eSpares  Před 5 lety

      Hi Darren Pene Junior Pati, it may be the nut is turning so it won't allow you to turn it so try using a pair of pliers to hold the one side and then use your screwdriver to loosen it.

  • @brandywell44
    @brandywell44 Před 8 lety

    I don't ever advise anyone to use washing up liquid to lubricate rubber parts as it never dries out and is potentially corrosive. Liquid soap is better as it dries and is safe

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  Před 8 lety

      +brandywell44 Thanks for your comments, the seal and the machine tub are both synthetic and neither will corrode.

    Completely impossible to remove the inner band on our machine, the one in the video has far more space around it to use, and unscrews, unlike ours which does for a bit and then refuses to move further. Have to call the engineer out, oh well...

  • @markhawthorn7438
    @markhawthorn7438 Před 5 měsíci

    Well, I have spent over an hour and have given up and will have to buy a new machine. My experience was nothing like as smooth as the video. Top of the machine, once removed, revealed a whole load of innards and electrics I had to get through before I could even see the inner ring. No way at all to get a screwdriver to engage with the vital screw on that ring - you could just get the screwdriver in but no room to turn it other than using finger tips which gives no torque. And the screw never budged a fraction of a millimetre - and now the head of the screw is disintegrating. Really disappointing. Not e-spares fault, of course. I'm not saying that. But the optimism inspired by the video was sadly misplaced and what should have been a less than £50 repair is going to be a new machine. And, of course, I have purchased a now-useless replacement seal.
