Agree with all the comments here. Skipped over the most difficult part, putting the new seal on and putting the tightening band back on. You need to prize, pull the seal edge apart/open and that then clasps around the inner rim of the machine. I couldn't get the tightening bands back on unless I unclipped them, prized the hook open a little bit and then fed the band around the rim and hooked it together again. Took me 15minutes to take the old seal off and 2hrs to get the new one on (due to the above)!! But I did it and the machine is working fine now and the horrendously mouldy old seal is replaced:))

This is how i use to do them when i worked for Hotpoint.
    1) Power Off and remove top cover
    2) Release seal from front panel and push it back into tub.
    3) Remove Soap Tray and bottom cover and remove front Panel, not forgetting to remove the interlock screws
    4) Drop front Panel away
    5) Remove retaining band and discard old seal
    6) Align new seal and fit at the Tab first
    7) Replace retaining springs which may be a little easier with washing up liquid.
    8) Replace front panel making sure all connections etc are made
    9) Fit seal to front cover with the aid of detergent, which assists the spring seating into the seal.
    10) Check all connections before fitting top cove back

It's a shame you missed out the hardest part of this process, I managed to figure it out eventually. It would have been really useful to mention that when inserting the new seal into the washing machine you need to identify the triangular section that sticks out. There is a correspondingly triangular sharp on the inner edge which fits inside it. Fitting that in first makes fitting the seal back much easier. The spring wire then should be fitted back on from the front by slowing prying it on bit by bit. Worked for me any way after a sat and figured it out.

It took me an entire day to feed the inner part of the seal to the rim of the tub. If you think the rubber boot just goes on there and the rim of the tub just fits inside the groove of the boot, you will find out.
One thing is for certain is that you start not with the outside of rubber but from the inside, pressing the groove into the rim and then the outer lip of the boot goes over the rim. Pushing the boot groove into the rim of the tub is a finger pain to say the least.
The outside neck of the boot that goes on the front door end is not much work.
Also take off the entire front of the machine and then lay the machine down on the ground on its back. Trust me.
Now there are two kinds of clamps. One type has the screw end that you adjust and the other is one ring spring that snaps in place.
The ring spring is the most difficult to install. It needs 6 hands, 3 people or you better make a special tool to keep the spring expanded in a circle just the right diameter to drop the sping right it is supposed to go, on the outside edge of course.

Got all excited when I saw this is the same machine that I have. I notice in the video when removing the inside retainer the spring has been stretched (tried to cover it up with fingers and thumbs). Would have been better if some more time could have been spent on putting the bands back on. The outside one was clearly not fitted when he said “all done” as if by magic! I certainly would not want that machine, as I bet it leeks like a sieve!

I tried for an hour to attach the seal to the inner of the machine with the cover on (you know the part they don't show in video). It's important the seal is on right so take your time with the job. Remember which spring clips come off as when you spend a while trying to get all the covers off and the seal on, it can be easy to forget! Good luck, try to do without swearing

Watch carefully viewers, note how he's putting the seal in backwards, then the scene conveniently cuts to the seal being on and the cable fed. Spoke to an actually engineer who said that doing this without removing the front is the stupidest idea on this machine. I guarantee that guy didn't attach the seal so conveniently. Best lesson I've learned is to read the comment section on DIY videos before watching.

  • @swfcnumber1wawaw69

Love these videos, they are not helpful. I am an independent domestic appliance engineer and I get several calls a month from customers who think they can fit a door seal because they look at these videos. I get the call because they have totally made a mess.
The inner band on these hot points are a nightmare to stretch the spring enough to get it all on. The best way I have found is to get a few tie wraps and put one each side through the eye hole at the end of the spring then you can stretch it enough to to get the band on.
The guy on the video started putting the seal on the wrong way round to start with as well. The inner part of the seal was facing the outside of the machine. The video then moved to him getting the band on 😂😂😂

He puts the new seal in the wrong way around and the video then conveniently and unhelpfully skips the fitting of the seal to the inside. I've just struggled for an hour before deciding to remove the front panel. It's the only way, unless you have 3 pairs of hands and can hold the inside of the seal on in several places and feed the rest of it on at the same time!! Trust me, it's so much easier and won't take 5 years off your lifespan!!!

So I saw this and thought great - that is my washing machine - perfect! And for all those saying you have to take the front off. Thats actually quite a challenge on this machine and not necessary. But, this video is not a great help beyond telling you to take the top off an be careful. Do take care getting the old spring loaded outer and inner wires off - you might need them! There is a locating tab on the seal and surprise surprise it fits on a locating tab inside the washing machine so you get it aligned correctly. I have big hands but still managed to get my hands inside the loading bay enough to locate the inner rubber seal. START FROM THE BOTTOM. gently locate working a bit in both directions so the last bit is at the top - thats where you can get your hands in if it gets fiddly. Do the same with the wire (spring at the top please). Same strategy for the outer. Took me about 30 mins on my own despite this poor video.
