  • This video shows you how to change the door seal on a Bosch washing machine. Step by step instructions and tool list are written below. Some models may have a water hose at the top of the door seal and you will need a pair of pliers to release the clip holding the seal to the pipe or dispenser housing. Gloves are advised but it’s difficult to feel what you’re doing through them and limit dexterity. Sometimes it can be easier to fit seals with the machine tilted back against a wall or the worktop. This might not always be possible but as I show you it is do able in a normal position.
Tools and materials required for this task...
    1. T20 Torx screwdriver
    2. Flat head screwdriver
    3. Kitchen towel
    4. Washing up liquid
    5. Pliers (for some models)
A second pair of hands can be useful for the spring band
Instructions for this task, step by step...
    1. Unplug appliance from power supply
    2. Remove the filter cover, undo the screw hidden behind it
    3. Pull the plinth forward and slide to the left to remove
    4. Undo the screws on the front panel hidden by the plinth
    5. Release the door seal band on the front metal panel
    6. Unscrew door interlock
    7. Remove the soap tray and remove single screw for front panel
    8. Release the front panel, pull forward then downwards
    9. Unclip the interlock writing holder from the front panel and lift clear
    10. Remove the old seal by forcing it out of the groove from the inside.
    11. Clean the tub front
    12. Lubricate the door seal with washing up liquid and fit, as per video
    13. Refit the spring retainer band, as per video
    14. Follow these steps in reverse to put pack together!
    15. Run an empty rinse cycle to check for leaks and rinse out any trace of washing up liquid in the machine

I couldn't figure out how to put the seal back after changing the interlock. It leaked for awhile until I watched your video and saw that you hooked the seal over the outer edge. Great video.

Thank you for posting this. Others have shown removing the concrete for my model (Bosch Vario Perfect Serie 4) but I followed your method and it worked a treat with the washing up liquid idea. To stretch the front retaining spring instead of using my thumb I carefully used a pair of long nose pliers . Two pairs of nitrile gloves protect your hands whilst allowing fiddly work to be done. Thanks again ⭐

Thanks heaps for this video. After my serie 2 seal broke i ordered a new one but other videos were not very clear at all. I had to remove a chunk more to get the front plate off: first the top plate with two screws at the back, then the button section, then the front plate screws were available. Absolutely essential that i got the front plate off though because there's no way i would've been able to see what i was doing nor fit the inner spring on the new seal. Great advice, thorough but simple and straightforward. Great work mate and thanks heaps, genuinely saved me and the Mrs a hundred quid or more in technician fees.

Thanks for the clear video. I was able to fit a new seal without issue today. My Bosch front plate had two additional fixings at the bottom and a white tube at 11 o'clock that went into a blind hole in the rubber seal (maybe for location?). I also had more clips fixing the door wiring in place so just swung the face plate 90 degrees out of the way rather than risk busting the wiring but otherwise all as your video. A very happy wife doesn't have to try to tape up the old split seal every wash and mop up when it didn't work! Many thanks.

Very good instruction overall. The devil is in the detail. The final step of putting the outer spring took myself and my son half an hour. Spring was tough as hell, no way to pull it like the guy on the video. May be that's because my North American Bosch was bigger than European versions (now in America Bosch also sells only small ones)

Very useful video thanks. My machine is a Siemens WM14S 496 GB so a number of differences to the video but the principle is the same. The plinth is held in by 1 screw and just pulls straight out. The the water fill pipe is a part of the door seal seal so needs to be unclipped. The control panel at the top needs to be unclipped to obtain access to 2 more screws in order to remove the front panel. A connecting plug needs to be removed from the door lock mechanism. Refitting the spring bands is A COMPLETE PIG!!

Hi, lid off, soap tray out, screws around drawer housing out, swing fascia out from the left then release tab on the right of the fascia inside the machine. Remove the screws along the top edge of the metal white panel, release the door seal band and seal, undo the filter flap at the bottom and undo screws there and tilt back to get to the two or three underneath on the front panel.

I have a Siemens IQ300 and I can't complete the step at ~ 3:11 - if I peer inside, the front looks like it's held on by another screw pointing downwards directly in the middle at the top. Do I need to take the whole top off to remove the front and replace the door seal?

it is a good vid, but i could not get the outer ring on at the end. i thought it was me, but it seems to be a problem with a lot of people. the answer is to use 2 pairs of grips and stretch the spring a little to give you more play, then it went on fine.

Hi, no not at all, the hose just pushes into the spout. A tiny bit of dairy liquid on the hose will help it in and I often put a cable tie round it for good measure.

Hi again, so i haven’t been able to take the front panel off, it’s different than your video (no plint), however i managed to do the replacement up until the hose. It is on the spout but I can’t slide the metal cable tie that was on the previous one on the right place as there’s not enough room to move my hands and everytime I try to put it in place, the hose slides of the spout again (and over and over again 😂) can i put a plastic cable tie on it? Or how do i open the front panel? Thank you

    • @TheLaundryCentre
      @TheLaundryCentre  Před 10 měsíci +1

Ah ok, it’s a newer one. Should be as follows
Two screws at the back of the lid, slide lid back and away
Remove dispenser. Three screws and panel pulls foward on this side. On the other side right at the end there is some tabs to release the control panel.
Panel removed, this reveals two screws either side at the top of the front metal panel, take those out
Undo the filter flap, remove the filter flap and undo the screws behind that. You’ll also need to tilt the machine back to get to some upward facing screws at the bottom of the front panel. Door interlock can stay clipped in, just re route the pull cord when refitting
