"I've never used a professional grade tumbler before"
Well you still haven't because it came from harbor freight.
It's a vibratory tumbler. What do you want, stainless steel outer tub, or a union label? Sure. you can pay $400 for a "professional" tumbler and it will perform exactly like the (admittedly cheap) harbor freight unit. And the HF unit won't last as long, but for the difference in price you could buy ten new HF tumblers. I'm all for well built tools, but I believe the term that applies is "gild the lilly."
You’re both right

I'd say use different media for the tumbling. There is crushed walnut shell and corn cob. Don't overpack it so everything has room to move around.
Having reloaded ammo for over 40 years I have to say that walnut shell media works great for polishing brass, coins ect.
Crushed walnut is also an approved abrasive cleaning method for jet engine internal cleaning.

Hello max subscribers to me and I will subscribe to you
I have several vibratory tumblers I use for cleaning ammunition brass. I used to have issues with the tumblers "walking" across the garage floor while they were running. I tried putting the tumblers on different things to fix the issue with no luck until I tried some pieces of used linoleum flooring. I cut them down so the tumblers would fit on them and put the "slick" side down and the rough side up, which is opposite of what you do when you install the flooring... Worked like a charm! I can leave my tumblers running for hours and they don't budge at all. I got the idea from the flooring guys who installed my laminate flooring. They put linoleum down on the concrete floor first to act as a slip pad and they laid it down on the slick side with the rough side facing up. That way the laminate flooring would "float" over the rough side, so to speak.
Those are typically used to shine and police either brass or rounds of ammunition. I used to reload a lot as a teenager, and the tumblers would run overnight. It's amazing how well they help you sleep.
I'm not sure if someone stated this already but tumblers like that require some detergent and water to work best. I use to work at the local machine shop in that department.
I make copper jewelry. I use a drop of dish soap and water.
Is the water and dish soap something recommended for the media type they're using? I use this machine for dry polishing using a mix of corn cob and walnut shell media. Polishes spent brass well.
I use a lortone tumbler. It is recommended that you put soap and water with you metal shards.
@@craftymiller681 Most vibratory tumblers are meant to be dry, they are literally usually called "dry tumblers".
I’d like to see what this does to a small piece of different types of wood, and then possibly compare it under the microscope to wood that has been sanded at different grains

I almost bought this tumbler. Thanks for this product review.
If i could make a suggestion I feel like cylinder tumblers that are used for polishing stones are the best for being abrasive and really giving results just a thought and as always love the videos.
You probably should've put soap and water in with it, I work at a machine shop, maybe that's why the tumbler got destroyed, or maybe just because you overloaded it 🤷🏻
i was thinking the same thing...i worked at a machine shop for a summer as a side gig and my job was to retrieve the parts from the tumbler...there was a bar with holes in it that i had to lower that fed a constant flow of water into it...virtually no dust

So obviously Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid and feels like a solid when a force is applied against it but does it Act similar to air sand with vibration is applied to it
If I know enough itll probably just firm up and shake cause the vibrations are so fast
Search up Liquefaction of sand.... It is the phenomena at play here.. Basically when a vibration like force is applied to sand it turns into liqud i.e. It loses it shear strength (ability to hold up along a surface). In nature this can be observed when we experience earthquake any structure with a sandy foundation fails easily... Also quick sand pits

9mm casings. This style tumbler is usually used by reloaders cleaning their brass. You may have just had more weight in it then it could handle. Usually used with corn cob media or crushed walnut media to clean and polish brass.
