Bought a $250 rough opal parcel from Roy Stevenwald off of facebook to see how he stacks up to other sellers. Turns out... he is pretty good. I got much better quality than I thought I would and I will 100% be buying off him in the future.

Hi. Yeah this has been one of the better parcels I have bought offline. Not a single piece without potential. The postal system here is getting hit hard at the moment. I takes ages but my parcels have been getting here slowly. Maybe a month or two to get to Norway =) Good luck!

Yeah i think in just 3-4 stones it's paid for itself. Guessing prices have gone up like the rest of the market so I should do a few new rough parcel reviews.

I think he is on a hiatus, unfortunately he had a bit of a rough time and was on a bit of a roller coaster mentally. He may be back at some stage though, I am hopeful anyway.

Yeah that was a good batch. Still have a few to do from that one. Made back the $250 in just a few of the stones.
And their nice size
One is perfect for lighting and camera testing and I've been using it ever since I cut and polished it.

I need to dig that parcel back out was some great stones I cut out of them but then moved on and forgot about them!
Bought some off ebay from a deseased estate, got a piece thats 80 carats thats full rainbow colours just like the one you have with a straight colour bar, but mine has about 6 colour bars stacked ontop of each other like 60% colour, getting it cut soon fingers crossed it has a nice pattern or something to go with it
Sounds like a great stone and with a few skilled slices on the saw, might become multiple great finished gems.

I got 2 parcels from the same guy, They sure didn't look anything like this, They were cutoffs and chips mostly, Unfortunate, Not thru ebay, but on fb,
That is quite disappointing to hear. I haven't cut many of these pieces of rough yet but the ones I have turned out amazing so far.
Some people are pretty thick at time's. To quick to blame seller's without really looking into what's going on first. There's even people twice as thick who blame the seller after they have allready posted what their selling and it's out of their hands after that.😕
It is really tough for opal sellers out there. Expectations are in the clouds and I've seen perfectly good materials get sent back to sellers for refunds (which I have been lucky to snag a few times).
@@RoysRocks I think some expect to much from seller's and forget that buying rough opals is like a lucky dip.Your guaranteed to get something but how good will that something be ?
@@neilhamill318 I think you are 100% on the money. Especially with the cheaper material like under $1000 parcels.
