I will also go over some owner information and recommendations for Toyota hybrid owners. I will also answer Toyota Hybrid fan filter frequently asked questions at the end of the video.
This video applies to 2021 Toyota Venza 2019 RAV4 Hybrid 2020 RAV4 hybrid 2021 RAV4 hybrid and 2021 RAV4 Prime

You give more infos than my Toyota dealer!
Man I can’t tell you how much you saved my money Toyota was asking me almost $1000 dollars for filters cleaning and for Oder fluid thank you so much
Outstanding guidance, thanks. You are one of the reasons we bought our 2021 RAV4 hybrid and we absolutely LOVE it. Best car we've ever had. 46 mpg. Thanks.
Yes, I do have a 2020 rav4 hybrid, 46 mpg in the summer, in the winter im avg 40-42.
Still good.
Nice exaggeration on the mpg there. You must drive down hill both ways. No stop lights or traffic
I get that 46 mpg mileage when driving around town in the spring or fall at about 40-45 mph on level ground. Otherwise mileage varies from 36 - 42 depending on speed, terrain and whether the AC is going.@@higherlifts420
@@higherlifts420A constant 85 degrees, no AC and always has a 30mph tailwind
@@higherlifts420 nah i see plenty of rav4's come into the shop with the 40's mpg range
Thank You! I had no idea this filter even existed, will check and clean it ASAP. You're the best!
I am so glad I discovered your channel. I just bought a RAV4 Prime and have so much to learn! Thank you.
Just cleaned the Hybrid Battery Fan Filter on my 2021 Venza. It was as easy as you demonstrated. Thank you!
Because of your videos I show everyone of my customers when i deliver their car where the vents are and to make sure they are not covered
Thank you SO MUCH for the video. I've added "check the fan filter" to my calendar, monthly, until I see I can extend that time. I truly appreciate the time you've taken to explain this stuff to us new hybrid owners!
You are the best. Thank you for all this knowledge that we can learn in years yet here you are summarizing it to us
I have learned so much from hearing you. Direct, to the point with viable information. You are the first that I've not only subscribed, but set the Notification to "all". Thank you - don't change the recipe!
Absolutely love your videos. Owner of a Rav 4 Prime (wildlander in China) and I didn't even know about this. Pretty sure the dealers here definitely have no idea about this. Your videos have really helped me debunk all of the nonsense I have heard here. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your videos.
I feel extremely proud at your direct students who learned from you on your job, you are a fantastic trainer, absolutely high quality 👌
Hi, thank you for the info. I got 2022 Toyota highlander hybrid xle. Before I watched your video, I didn't know I also had those filter. Now I know that thing needs to be clean and done. Thanks.
I love this guy. I've learned so much from his videos!!!
I didn’t know that there was a filter. I will check it on my 18 Camry XLE. Thank you. Great videos
Thank you for the information. I'll replace my 2021 RAV4 Prime XSE Filter. I'm approaching 20,000 miles and now is the time for me.
Thank you. I am in the market for a new or newer car. I was wondering how the heck you keep the battery cool. I saw what one had to do with earlier models, and I'm glad I kept looking and found your explination and demonstration. I really like the Rav4 Prime but I'm afraid I don't drive a lot while we are home. Lots to consider for us. Thanks again.
Great video! Never even realized that there would be a filter behind that grid
Thank you for getting back to me so promptly.
Appreciate the link you sent me.
Replacement part numbers and tutorial !
Love your professionalism and depth of knowledge.
Glad you could share with us troglodytes.
Best wishes.

Very helpful video, I have a 2019 rav hybrid, and never knew about this!!
CCN you are among the best when it comes to be informative, thanks dude I’m a hybrid junkie. Much blessings much love
Yes
Excellent demonstration. This is how all tutorials should be done.
You are the BEST!! I asked my Toyota dealership where this filter was located a month ago, and they didn't know. We did find it eventually - once a mechanic came out and looked with me. But still ... these videos are life savers. Have you considered making a Patron or other account where people can support you more directly?
Thank you for watching my video! I have a Patreon account here www.Patreon.com/thecarcarenut
Thank you so much. Nice to know these things to check on before they become a big problem.
this guy is doing god's work, has helped me take care of the easy-to-repair car maintenance.

Another excellent video! Thanks!
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!!
Very helpful info. Thank you!
Fantastic video, again. Thank you.
Dealership wants to charge 275 for this cleaning!! Do it yourself! Great video!
Thanks once again for the useful info. Funnily enough I was trying to access the hybrid battery filter in my Toyota Auris 2016 (I live in the UK) but couldn't figure out how to lift the rear seat. I checked online and in the manual but struggling to find instructions on how to do this.
Thank you AMD. When I get my new 2023 Prius, I will check that!
Always with the great info. Anyone with a Toyota should be a subscriber.
Applies to Lexus hybrids as well. They use Toyota Technology. That's why they are renowned for reliability also. This filter check can be done in less than 5 minutes. So easy. Thanks Car Care Nut ❤ 😊
@@smaxwell4062 I know, I have 2 Lexus hybrids👍
Thank you and appreciate it. Wished i live near you for you to be my mechanic for life!
I checked my filter on 2019 Camry Hybrid. 2 years later......it's still clean. My backseat rarely gets used.
WoW! Great information to have
Thank you very infomative.
nice demonstrations. I'm sure that process is much easier without having to hold it so a camera can catch the process. This will help many hybrid owners for years to come as they find this video
Hi Shane! Thank you watching my brother! Yeah filming and working is interesting but I’m starting to get the hang of it as I want to start filming a bit more complicated DIY videos.
@@TheCarCareNut AMD. Did Toyota make the filter maintenance on the 2019+ rav4s a 100 times easier? There’s a guy that takes out the whole back seat to maintenance the filter in what I believe is a 2018 rav4. Right here on this CZcams video. czcams.com/video/3btoKQUvX4c/video.html. Your thoughts?
Great video. Good education. Gracias!
Thanks for sharing the information about hybrid filter take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

just saved me money, was going to buy a new one ty!
Thank you!
I’m new in your channel👍🏻thanks for all you information 👏🏼👌🏼 new subscriber here !
Very clear instructions! Have you ever encountered the following problem: my Rav4 Prime releases a smell while the battery is charging? There is no smell in the car prior to the charging session, but during and after, there is a smell in the car that is hard to describe: it's a little bit like an intense "new car" smell or as if something has been heated but not a burning smell. I've had the car since March 2021 and the smell started recently after the car was plugged into a defective stage 2 charger that turns off when plugged into the car. The charger is new and stopped working after a week and I'm waiting for a technician to verify the charger. Toyota verified the car and says there is no problem with the battery.
Thank you! And God Bless!
Thank you sooo much
Great video
Fav part is where you say "May the Lord bless you and keep you" 🙏😇 May the Lord bless and keep you as well!

Thank you .
Awesome videos!!! Do you have a video specific to 2017 avalon hybrid to clean the fan itself?
We got our 2023 Rav4 Hybrid Limited on March 10th 2023. Another story but we ordered a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid Limited on the first day that 2022s could be ordered back in the first couple days of November 2021.This one isn't even the one we ordered but is exactly th same except for the colour. Another customer who had ordered this one on the same day as we ordered ours, and they backed out in October just 2 weeks before the dealership received the build number and we got the first shot at taking this one. On the 12th of May I was in our dealership and the salesman told me that just that day he had received the build number for the one we had ordered. Anyways, I was taking your advice and decided to check the filter today a little over 2 months into our ownership. I could not get the screw on the cover to pop out! I literally turned that screw about 30-40 times ( yes counter clock wise ) and it didn't budge. How the screw would have been damaged somehow is puzzling. During the pre delivery inspection is there some reason that the dealership's prep guy would have removed the jilter cover ( is it delivered with a plastic wrap seal inside the cover that would have to be removed? I'm at a loss as to how I'm going to get this thing out and not sure if there's a "trick" to remove a damaged screw without damaging the cover etc.. Help!
I have this same problem right now! How did you get it off?
Thank you for sharing the video. Could you please show me how to change the Courtesy Light for 2021 Venza.
You rock!
Watching from germany
The best.
I just had my 45K service done yesterday, an intermediate service costing $200. I was then asked to spend another $200 servicing this filter which I did not accept to do at that time, thankfully I didn't get it done. Your video confirmed in my mind I could handle this simple job myself, thank you.
The dealer also suggested a "All Wheel Service" for an additional $300, any comment?
Some things are cheaper and easy enough to do yourself - engine air filter takes literally one minute, cabin filter is a little trickier but still only takes less than 5 minutes if you go real slow. This hybrid filter was the most difficult because the cover didn’t want to budge…but still only took several minutes. Those 3 are important and will save you lots if self maintained.
Thank you ...
Thanks AMD
Hey AMD!
Would love a video on Lexus Rx400h or the equivalent in USA! Cheers from Bulgaria!
Another video to say thank you for.
Information is power.
Thanks for your help! There is another filter inside! Do we need to change that too?
Thank you so much for this and all other video's.
I have a 2020 rav4 hybrid se. Now its winter here in nj, im hearing more noice in the engine compartment kind of light visil, is it normal or belt , fan or something else? Im a rideshare driver i have 67000 miles in it.
Is this the same process for a 2017 Lexus RX450h? I just subscribed because I appreciate the knowledge you are sharing!
Hi! No your Lexus will have 3 vents underneath the back seat with a built in Mesh filter
It is a really nice video, thanks for the information. I just got my RAV4 2023 Plug-in hybrid model but it does not have any filter on the back seat. Could you verify that the latest model is changed and the cooling is solved differently? Thank you!
God bless you
Fantastic advice. Thank you so much! Is it the same procedure and/or the same part number for Lexus NX 350h? If the part is different, could you please provide the part number for it?
I just bought a 2015 Lexus Es300 h. Can you make a video on how to change the battery filter
sir will you please make a review on how to clean the filter of 2022 sienna xse awd. thank you in advance
Hi AMD. Thanks for the vid. Is it the same filter, whether you have a Rav hybrid or Rav4 Prime? Same part number?
Any chance you can provide a "How To" on getting to and replacing a 2024 hybrid battery filter on a ES300h ?
Nice video boss, how about a video of 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?
I bet it’s practically the same. Maybe design change a little bit.
Thank you so much for this critical information! I just purchased a 2021 hybrid RAV4 a few weeks ago and this information was not mentioned at all. If I may ask a question - will it be an issue for battery heat to drive longer distances (5+ hours) with both of the back seats pulled down in top of the back seat? In my amazing 2015 standard RAV I transported my bike on the back with seats down and was planning to do this with the hybrid as well. Thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Hi! It shouldn’t be an issue
Speaking of filters. We bought a 2015 Sienna used a few years ago. It had been serviced multiple times and supposedly inspected. We noticed the AC was struggling to cool the van so I checked the cabin filter and it was awful. It had all sorts of debris in there. I doubt it had ever been changed. I’m dumbfounded how this filter was in this bad of shape. It’s easy to get to if you know where to look and cheap to replace. No excuse for this filter to get that bad. Even valvoline checks the cabin filter and will gladly charge you $30 for it!
Hello!
Thank you for the very informative videos. Is there only the one filter for the ‘21 RAV4 hybrid or is there a second one as well?
Thank you!
Hi! There’s only the one
Did you ever do a video of how to clean the 2012 Camry hybrid battery filter ? If so I can’t find it anywhere
Hello. Can you please do this tutorial for lexus NX300H?. Thank you
hello... Can you show how to remove the cover for the 2021 Lexus ES 300h fan filter? I can remove the screw, but am unable to remove the plastic cover to clean the filter behind it. it's different than the ones shown. I don't want to break it. We asked the dealership and they said they never remove it.
Thank you for all your excellent tips for proper maintenance.
Hello Car Care Nut, great help for those of us that can take care of the battery air filters. I just picked up a used 2019 NX300H, would you know where that air filter might be? I love the car and it only had 19,000 miles on it. Thanks so much and keep up the good work! God Bless.
Hi! Should be just under the back seat. Hoping to get one soon to make a video for it
at 6:30 "Lint from clothes"... I wonder if this is why Toyota is using more and more vinyl seats (SotfTex) to help with inside dust...
I’m wondering about vaping or smoking in the car with the windows down or cracked? That would probably up the time needed for replacement. Have you ever seen filters from vaping/smokers in your work?
Awesome video! I have been watching a ton of your videos. Is idling in park for extended periods with air running bad for the system? I am using my vehicle as a mobile office.
Hi! It shouldn’t be an issue. It does put a stress on everything so keep up the maintenance especially oil changes early to compensate for the idling time
@@TheCarCareNut wow! Thank you for the quick response! Much appreciated!
Very informative! Where would the filter be for a hybrid corolla cross?
Hi! Underneath the back seat
Happy new year’s AMD 🥳
Happy new year Michelle!

Sorry! My bad
No worries 😉 it just looks so weird to me
Hi, important question. Where is the exhaust for the air coming out?
I use a rear seat cover and want to make sure I don’t block the exhaust as well. Cause it can then pressurize the system.
I now make sure I keep the air intake unblocked.
Whats your opinion on the durability of the 2022 Ford hybrid escape ?
