Thank you for the video, just a thought if you wish to drain the oil cooler, could you possibly locate the oil return and feed to the gearbox from the oil cooler and use a Air line and gently blow the oil out. 👍😎🇬🇧.
No oil came out when you started the engine because you left the sump off, no pressure = no pump. Had you replaced the sump and then started the car, went through all the gear changes, turn the car off, Undo the sump plug and then you would have some oil that came from the cooler. When checking transmission oil, car has to be on. Also go through the gear shift from park all the way down holding each gear for 10 seconds. No need to release the handbrake.
not sure how this would help - starting the engine should have pumped through any oil - i had the sump off so not sure there was any oil level to check.
powerfulukltd. Sorry. I meant check the level after refill and engine start. Ideally before selecting D or R and saying there doesn’t appear to be any drive! Once level sensible then run through all gears and get level exact with engine running. Refer to dipstick check procedure in owners manual for exact info.
I agree, run the vehicle for a decent period and just do a automatic gearbox drain and refill. No need to replace the filter again until a further 100,000km . I did this every 20,000kms on my Toyota.
I've just followed this video and serviced my transmission. It didn't engage gears initially like on this video but then it did. But, after going into L, it wouldn't where gears anymore. It did the same after a short wait too. Got my drive and reverse then nothing after trying 2 or L
Ah, it's working now. Just been for a drive. Gear change seems smooth and I think it's all working well now. Will check levels once the car has settled.
correct me if i'm wrong, but in auto trans if you run the car on gears but on hand brake you're restructing the output shaft from going along with the trans power train, it seems so it would slide off on those clutches 🤦♂️
Hi i have a Triton with a 5 speed auto. And some times when im driving uphill fast the transmission get stuck at 2nd gear, but when i put it in neutral and back to drive its good again. What do you think the problem is? Is it a solenoid issue?
I have such a problem: I changed automatic transmission oil, after replacement I have no reverse gear. Engage reverse gear. For some reason the oil does not get into the container.. I disassembled it again, I couldn't find a fault onli if no oil a container. sorry for the bad english..... :( could you help pleaseee ?
Hi - i think you have an air block - drive the car and get the gearbox oil hot - it will get thinner and you should then be OK. Thats the only thing i can think of!

Also if you in limp mode (3rd gear only) and there is no hear indicator on the dash, replace instrument fuse. Its a 7.5 amp.
Nice experiment starting the engine. I think You need to check the level with the engine running before getting carried away.

Shoul we change the filter every time we changed the ATF oil? How to know that the filter need to be replaced?
Muy buen video
What is the capacity of the atf oil?
What kind of ATF and how many litr should be used for this car
so just 4lt auto oil?

These auto boxes are a work of art - hope the gears work now !
How do you re fill on 2020 Triton? I accidentally drained it

I guess the toque converter allows the slip

I have the same issue, did you ever manage to solve it?
I am so confused. Do you guys have two dipsticks under the hood? Like one for motor oil and one for gearbox oil???
Yes.

@@L663 thx
Did you end up resolving the issue? Having the same problem with mine not going into reverse
Hi did you solve it i am suffering from same reverse mistake
Hi did heating oil solved it same problem :(
Please I think youle get more likes on freelander 1 things please
Is that transmisson 4 speed
Yes sir
Mate it’s called a socket not a spanner
Sorry me being a spanner !
