Bonito, tailor, salmon and squid - Kayak Fishing Sydney Harbour

  • This morning I'll be fishing the beautiful Sydney Harbour on the east coast of Australia.
    I start off by collecting some live bait, then begin dropping them instantly. After catching a salmon, bonito and tailor, a curious arrow squid arose from the depths and harassed my live bait. I dropped a jig down and hooked him instantly. He was thrown out and trolled with no luck, unfortunately. I have been eluded by the yellowtail kingfish again but hopefully, we get him next time.
    Check out my Instagram: @hoodlumhunter , where you can follow my fishing adventures.
    "Out of respect and courtesy for others, I refrain from naming spots unless it's a very popular spot. I don't mind others mentioning the spot it in the comments and I often leave enough evidence for those that want to find the spot, to be able to work it out from the video." - Shroom (@nbdshroom).

    Hey bro do you reckon a 150m spool of braid would be enough for this kind of fishing or would I be spooled cuz with 50lb braid I can lock up and pump the fish

    I live across the ditch. Are there any harbours in NZ that recieve similar action to Sydney harbour?

  • @jzfishing103

    Hey bro do you reckon a Daiwa saltist hyper 7 foot 9 PE 4-6 would be a good live bait outfit in Sydney harbour with a saltist MQ 6000 with 50lb j braid?

      Hey man. I'm pretty sure the parking along Lavender Cres (street that loops around watt park) is not metered.

    What length rod daiwa you using?

    • @hoodlumhunter
      @hoodlumhunter  Před 2 lety

      The one I’m using for the livebaits is 6 foot and 4 inches (6”4’). Shorter is more comfortable to use on the kayak.

    What lures you find works well for those salmon, bonito and kings in the harbour?

    • @hoodlumhunter
      @hoodlumhunter  Před 2 lety

      Hi mate for a metal I would use Halco Twisty 10g. For a soft plastic, I would use a Zman 2.5 Slimswim Opening night colour.

    Do you use circle hooks for live bait?If so do you have any tips on using them?

    • @hoodlumhunter
      @hoodlumhunter  Před 2 lety

      Pretty sure I was using normal J hooks in this video. Circle hooks are still good though.
      If you use circle hooks use a slightly lighter drag so the fish can pick the bait up and swim off with it.

    What were you throwing into the water ?

    • @hoodlumhunter
      @hoodlumhunter  Před 4 lety +1

      Burley pellets and bread stirred in boiling water the night before. Buy 1 loaf of white slice bread. Pick it apart and throw the pieces into the boiling water.

    • @hoodlumhunter
      @hoodlumhunter  Před 4 lety

      Hi mate. It's just a running sinker rig with the sinker sitting above the swivel. If you pay close attention to my line you can pause the video and see the entire rig.

    • @alexz4786
      @alexz4786 Před 4 lety

      Moonman Fishing thanks, I saw that u use this rig for ur live yakka, and sinker is pretty heavy, any reason for that?

      Hey mate. Out of respect for others, I refrain from naming spots. However, there is more than enough clues in the video to easily find the spot I am fishing. A simple google map search is not too hard.
