    I have designed, from the ground up, a replacement fan shroud for all "3 fan style" strix cards from the GTX 10 series, 16 series, RTX 20 series, and even some AMD cards like the 5700 XT, Rx 480, Rx 580, 590.
    This shroud came from the request of a customer through our online Etsy store (see link below).

    direct die thermal paste is not applied in any pattern but with full spread. You risk the GPU if you apply some of the standard IHS patterns, like the X you used here. A small portion of the silicon might not be covered when you press the cooler, and that portion might not be covered by a sensor. That means you might be running part of the silicon at 120+C while the GPU thinks its hotspot well below 100C and doesn't throttle, since you created a new unknown hotspot. This is not a problem for application on an IHS since the IHS itself covers the whole die and the silicon will not be in danger. Just use a spatula and spread the whole die, it is not hard to do, less risky, just a bit messy.

    Years ago I strapped two Noctuas, a 92mm and a 120mm. with zip ties to a Sapphire R9 Fury, which is a pretty hot running card. Result was temps dropped a bit under full load and inside the case the fans were basically inaudible. I also put two Noctua 120mm on a Morpheus II heatsink to cool a reference design Sapphire Vega64. That worked even better.
    Stock cooling on GPUs is just different shades of terrible. Compared to what is easily possible they all suck. ... or blow. ... you know what I mean.

    Its always awesome to cool GPU with 12cm/14cm fans, been doing this for a long time, larger fans with lower RPM means less noise and better performance. Also the easier way to do this is to take off the plastic case of the card and attach 2 or 3 fans on a PCI cooler panel(very cheap) next to the GPU, there would be a slightly longer distance between the fans and the heat sink but no such a big deal cause it performs almost the same. In addition, an PWM adapter cable is required to transfer the fan to the smaller 4pin slot on the card.

      We are glad it did make it to you eventually. Shipping internationally (outside of US and Canada) comes with its challenges for sure, and we have debated not offering international shipping because it’s expensive and takes a long time, and comes with the risks of the package getting lost the longer it is in the mail. Ultimately, we leave it up to the purchaser to decide if they should purchase and item based off the information available to them.
      As time goes on, we would like to explore better options for international shipping as well as a better selling platform that offers lower fees to us so we can pass those savings along to the customer.

    Hello. I have 2x Artic 120 mm standard 1500 rpm PWM fans connected to my fan header of my graphics card Msi AMD Radeon Rx 480. And exactly the way the original fans were connected, i.e. 4 pins and 3 pins. Only one of the two fans gives the RPM level signal. Both have same colors and I thnink wire colors is standard for these 4 colors. But now the automatic fan control no longer works. By default the fans run at 100% all the time even though they are silent fans and should not run without load. In Afterburner I can switch from automatic to manual and control it between 25% and 100% and manual control works! And the measurement diagram also shows me 900 - 1500 RPM. It looks like the card can carry the load of the bigger fans running them at 100%, no problem. But somehow the automatic mode fan control no longer works and I can't understand why ?
    I see 2 options:
    1) During the driver installation you will notice that the fans are being tested. It could possibly be that the installation detects an error because the fans do not spin up to 2000 or 3000 rpm like the original fans. And the installation then sets the automatic mode to permanent 100% fan speed.
    2) You have to crack the firmware of the card and readjust the fan control of the firmware?
    I guess it can only be the first though. That means there's nothing you can do except use fans with the same RPM. That no error and bad setting occurs ?
    It's not a problem in itself. Since you can start Msi with Startup with 25% fan. And the fans aren't loud at 900 RPM. And before you start a game, set the fans to 100% with Afterburner. and after playing again to 25% manually. However, an automatic is better.

      No it would not. The screw mounting locations for each GPU model's shrouds specifically are different. This shroud only fits the gpu discussed in the video. Sorry!

    would this fit a asus 3080 tuf?

    • @ultraprecisiontechnologies
      @ultraprecisiontechnologies  Před 2 lety +1

      Short answer: no. Longer answer: All model gpus have different mounting locations and mechanisms for how they secure the fan/plastic shroud to the heatsink. If you wanted a shroud for a 3080 TUF it would have to be custom made, which is entirely possible. I saw you message on my store, ill chat with you through there. Thanks for the question!

    • @ultraprecisiontechnologies
      @ultraprecisiontechnologies  Před rokem +1

      No, this shroud is only for the older generation strix shrouds like what’s shown in the video. Sorry. The Mon thing locations for the shroud screws are different on 30 series and up gpus

      @@ultraprecisiontechnologies if I wanted to pay you to design a mounting shroud for the 3080 12tb strix OC (assume it would work on any 30 series strix heartsink), how much would you charge? I would want to mount standard 120mm PWN fans like the noctua a12x25. As many as can fit (2 prob, maybe 3?). Ty for any feedback.

      It’s unlikely because the cooler looks different on the 980ti compared to the 10 series strix coolers

      there's a couple vids on here of people doing dissasembly of them if you ever get around to checking them out, but it does look a lot more complicated than the 10 series so i'm not getting my hopes up.

    bad fan choice, these are not the best for static pressure, these a re airflow fans, with that much gap between the blades and the resistance from the heat sink you are going to get a good bit of splash back resulting less performance and more noise than an ideal, would still be an improvement over stock fans for most coolers though. the black noctuas used are a much better choice

      3080 would require a new design from scratch. Time is something that is very limited for me, and I don't currently have plans to do another GPU shroud design at this time due to other projects I want to get to. Thank you for your interest!
