    Now these filters look really interesting. Certainly better than buying a filter for each lens/thread size, asuming the image quality is good.

    I desperately needed this. I have a Sony Alpha 7S III and the other day I went outside and tried to run some experiments. The ISO was down to 400 with the iris closed down to T22, and everything was practically overblown. I just got my ND64 and ND8 filters from Kase just a few minutes ago, now I can't wait to get some footage at a proper ISO.

    • @walmartpimp2
      @walmartpimp2 Před 2 lety

      @@charruaporelmundo I never got around to using it in the field, but after I saw your question, I did a controlled experiment at home to see if these things are the real deal. Using my Sony Alpha 7S III at ISO 20,000 in picture profile 10, coupled with a 50mm Zeiss CP.3 lens set at T2.1. As a light source I used two Aputure Accent B7C smart light bulbs set at full brightness programmed at 5600K. Without any ND Filter, everything was overblown. With the ND8 filter and all the previous settings, I had a workable picture but the light source was overblown by quite a bit. With the ND64 picture and the same settings the image got quite dark, and the light source was fairly normal. I don't have a light meter, but I'd say that three stops for the ND8 and six stops for the ND64 is accurate. As for ease of placing them in and taking them out, it's fairly simple. You should by them.

    Thanks for raising awareness of these ND filters. Prices are reasonable IMHO and it certainly beats logistically trying to use HSS with a strobe. Question: how much does the filter affect the quality of the image? Color shift? Color uniformity? Detail? Contrast? Thank you.
    ps: I doubt that polarizing filters could be dropped in front of the sensor because you have to rotate the filter when you use it.

      @farreach84 Před 3 lety

      nice idea for the concept, but it doesn't work quite as expected tho. doesn't protect from dust that well. it's much better for the 12-24 lens where it's cumbersome to take front attaching filters.

      @persimoncino Před 2 lety

      @@shaunreich So far loving it. It does the job perfectly and it's also helpful to protect the sensor from dust, but only if you set it up at home. And the last point leads to the only downside I can find to these type of filters. If you intend to take the filter in and out on location according too your needs it can become a little bit finnicky and not so very fast and comfortable.

    Can you do resolution testing with these filters with a wide/long prime lens? and give some DNG raws so true examination is possible would be nice to see how much of a true optical impact this has as this is the 3rd company to make these but no one has made any real test videos its baffling since this is the only way to dust sceal the A7/A9/A1 line simmler to how sonys FX line has a protective glass layer.

    Interessting stuff. Specially as I‘m looking for an ND filter system for my sony A7 - Voigtländer Heliar 15mm combo.
    This beautiful ultrawide lens das not support the normal screw on filters. Any system such as Rollei, Haida or Nisi doesn‘t fit.

      Yeah I can understand that. Probably best to apply it in an environment where it isn't so dusty but at the same time it does give you and other photographers a way to use filters without having to get expensive holders if you need it for simple shots.

    I'm wondering if in shooting and you have to keep changing filters out, you are exposing your camera sensor to all kinds of debris in the shooting enviorment. With a regular filter system you never have to touch the lens when exchanging out different filters. Those Kase filters to me don't make to much sense.
