    Carlos now probably has the most money he's ever invested in his live equipment , and his tone in this video and other recent videos I've seen, iMHO, is the worst I've ever heard it.
    Listen to his tone back from say, 1973, playing Samba Pa Ti, in any venue , indoors or live to compare this to, and you'll hear him playing a Gibson Les Paul through a Mesa Boogie Mk 1, for soloing switched with a couple Twins for rhythm and a few basic pedals......a wah, Roland Space Echo, used sparingly, and a Mutron Phase shifter, used very sparingly. Now his sound , from a mulit thousand dollar PRS guitar and all those out outrageously expensive amps he uses has squelched his sound, sounding thin and lifeless. What happened to his sustain ?
    Go back before that with the original Santana lineup and he's playing a Gibson SG through a couple cranked up Fender Twin Reverbs.......I'll take that tone any day over what he sounds like now.

    Santana played with some fine drummers in his career, cindy blackman not one of them.

    Is it just me Santana hasn’t been playing same like in the 90s Love his music but doesn’t play like he use to

    • @57Jimmy
      @57Jimmy Před rokem +2

      Man if I could still walk at that age it would be a miracle!
      The sound quality probably has something to do with it though.
      All the legends are not the same as they used to be. Except Ringo Starr! Paul McCartney just doesn’t have the voice anymore but still plays.
      That is what makes them legends. One day soon enough, each legend will pass as George Harrison sang ‘All things must pass away’ and leave us with their masterpieces for as long as we live.💕

    Даже если ты устал от лопаты переходи на отбойный молоток или кувалду !!
    Зачем ??
    Чтобы не потерять сиысл всей жизни .
    Дан тенденции произошли в Карлосе .
    Сильное усложнение и фрактализация его муз
    Что привело к потери первобытного строя и наивности
    И классическая усталость от жизни с потерей щенячих радостей ..
    Отпадают желания деньги бабы член мозги инстинкты самосохранения ....
    В чем спасение ??
    В новом цикле повторов но мудрых повторов
    Уже без ошибок молодости...

    He is killing this fantastic composition with a lousy sound and even more out of tune than ever before. At a jazz festival...good grief.☹

  • @hazor777
    @hazor777 Před rokem +3

    He’s losing that spontaneous blazing fire style he used to have - still good , still “Carlos” , but his best live performances were in the early /mid 90’s
    Check out LIVE in South America - you’ll see what I mean

    • @dfab512
      @dfab512 Před rokem +1

      I think his best performances were during the Caravanserai era up to Moonflower. I recommend the Lotus live album to everyone, they were absolutely on fire!

    • @hazor777
      @hazor777 Před rokem

      @@dfab512 yea - I can understand that as well , I guess I really enjoy the dynamics he had with Chester Thompson : they were so cerebrally “in sync” with each other , and Thompson’s sense of melody I think pushed Carlos , a lot, to take more chances etc.
      It’s ALL good ,regardless!
      Cheers!
      Viva Santana!!!
