As someone with advanced psoriatic arthritis in my early 40's, this is a gamechanger, knowing this exists. My finger joints have been deteriorating since my late 20's, and knowing this is possible changes my outlook on life. Thank you for this.
Curious, how are things going for you so far? Any plans on going with the procedure?

I gotta give the patient some respects for being the first in falling asleep on the sleepover and not even feeling pain from his sin.
jokes apart though, they gave that patient anesthesia
Thanks for the clip, time to do surgery on my patient. Always nice to have a little refresh on what to do!
Surgery on ur patient …? And before surgery u watching youtube video 😂😂
Preparing to do a little trolling on your friend who fell asleep first
This is amazing!!
I never thought of it before. If we can replace hips, knees and shoulders why not smaller joints?!
Probably not as much cases that needed to do such operations. Fingers don't get burdened as much as those bigger joints
@@yunan9610 so many people develope debilitating deforming arthritis!!! Many would regain use of their hands to massively improve the quality of life.
Typically these kinds of replacements benefit people with an inflammatory arthropy. These joint replacements are not as durable as major joints. Also it is for pain relief not strength. In fact you will probably lose strength, but maintain a better range of motion. If you want to not lose as much strength then a fusion is typical for these joints; however, then you will lose more range of motion.
Disclaimer: not a doctor, i just work closely with one that specializes in hand orthopaedics. I just think they're really cool. Please correct me if I misspoke. Always love to learn.
Cuz there smaller.
@@yunan9610 I have a finger like this one in the video, where can I do this surgery?
What an amazing way to fix the phalangeal joints! The healing time will also be less. Thank you for the simulation!
Very nice. I like how they are making different sizes of prosthetics "out of the box" now days... It's like the surgeon gets to select the size of a patient's shoe that best fits him/her while the operation is happening.

Thank you for this amazing video, now I can't sleep while thinking about my fingers.
ripbozo
Thank you
Actually very slick procedure minimal cutting required definitely helps healing time
I have such phalanges. Both hands due to rheumatoid arthritis. In total 8 finger joints with this deformities. I'm 33 y/o and have been suffering from JIA almost 30 years. Lost my walking abilities after damaging hips and knees joints. I was wheelchair ridden about 12 years. After went through multiple major surgeries I regained my walking abilities.
Hope one day after managing a smart amount I'll try this surgery at least on one finger.
I'm from Bangladesh.

The bracket between the two pieces of metal just seems to be some kind of magnet. Is it really strong enough to hold a finger together I may wonder?
The patient is probably advised to not pull the fingers or exert too much pressure on them, I guess.

What about replacement on the dorsal aspect?
The incision would be more likely to dehisce if done from that side with how often you use your hands and the constant pulling on the incision.
