    The trick with using the varnish so you can scrape off the excess on the detail layer is a great idea and will be useful for all types of trim work. I will be leveraging it in the near future, thanks!

    I have been painting minis for 40+ years and love your tip about using the toothpick!

    Love the painting of course but I have to say I could listen to your intro on repeat for hours.
    I can listen to Tex all damn day. If we did an audio book recording for battletech is loose my shit.

    Thanks for making this video B1B. Something else that you can try to use to make a grid on the miniature, when pencil cannot be seen use a technical pen 0.05mm with black, light grey or white ink. Many companies make these. Micron, Steadler, Rapidograph are some brands. You can find these at office supply stores, art & hobby supply stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby or online. You could also make a stencil with the tape and cut out one horizontal line or checks, then move the stencil to make each row.

      Thanks! I have microns in black but didn't know about the grey or white, I'll check those out. Tape stencils I've done before and I recommend against them with the size of these models in most cases. They just get to be too fiddly when they're so small.

    This helped a lot! I never thought of using the gloss varnish before painting but I can see how it makes a big difference in cleaning up the checkers. Thanks for sharing this.

    Fantastic results! Your tutorials always make it look easy - until I try it, and realize that yeah, most of these things aren't as difficult as I feared.

    Thanks for this tutorial! Could you kindly do a tutorial video for the Clan Steel Viper Gamma Galaxy scheme (the one with scales).
    From the Battle of Tukayyid Campaign book, p. 97, there's a Battle Cobra in this scheme that I'd really like to try to duplicate. :) Thanks again!

      I will be getting around to a couple CSV turorials but not Gamma. However, I will have a tutorial for scales for one of their Keshik schemes.

      I'm certain I did as it was convenient to do concurrently with the legs.

      Mechwarrior 2 Mercs soundtrack. Easy to find online with a search.

    What colours did you use for your base green on this mad cat?

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a pretty round about process as I painted the model in two steps to allow for a beginner and advanced method to get similar results. The video will be out in the coming weeks but here's the colors: The base was Army Painter Army Green, washed with GW Contrast Militarum Green, then drybrushed with Vallejo Khaki and finally given a highlight layer with Mig Oilbrusher Olive Green.

    The final paintjob has a bit of a grain to it. What caused that out of curiosity?

    • @CamoSpecsOnline
      @CamoSpecsOnline  Před 2 lety

      That would be from the Army Painter spray paint I used to prime. I would have preferred to use another brand but the colors I wanted weren't available and I had the AP can sitting on my shelf. You'll see it discussed in the Falcon Guards painting tutorials coming up.

      Mostly the sountrack from the Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries game.
