Dang yal I think we need to start a support group
Ladies!!! đ„ș
I've had it for 30 years đđ
You might be better off with a pancake lens.
I vote you for President / Overlord for the group. đïž
count me in... hours of research, no more space to put things....
I'm an engineer, guitarist/producer, photographer, and PC gamer. Every waking instant of my existence is GAS đ
Endless hobbies endless GAS :,)
HAS
my brother, i am not that into professional photography for now but it has caught my eye now and then but i am just scared that will be the last nail into my coffin and me going broke from the gas of PC and very expensive unnecessary enterprise level hardware servers and my musical gear which 90% i don't use cause i always go back to that one guitar which i can get to do 90% of everything i need with the one plugin i have been using since the beginning of time.
I feel your pain
Whatever you do, don't add cycling/mountain biking to this list of hobbies. Or Lego.
send help pls.
Paying for your stuff by videoing your thought process about whether you need stuff is a great way to get stuff.
GAS is so real. And it gets me into exhausting research rabbit holes. Not just tech or instruments either -- pens and notebooks too!
Me too. Now itâs with calling lol
My friend, that is called rumination. Mindfulness is an effective method, if you are intrigued in altering your behaviour patterns
YESSSS
â@@saradietschyI don't have G.A.S. and you know why: because I don't have the money đđđ I probably will when I do, but right now, I'm in my resourceful phase.
what does GAS mean?
No lie, I was looking at a 7-String guitar and pickups last night for two hours. đ
Letâs not also forget that those of us with ADHD are craving that dopamine hit, and hitting that âpurchaseâ button is our drug. Iâve literally bought gear, gone to put it in the cupboard, and realised I already bought it before.
I used to have the worst GAS. I would often buy camera gear, do an unboxing video, and then not use the new gear for my videos. In fact, I have a DJI Ronin RS 3 gimbal that I only opened to do the unboxing video and have yet to use it in real life. đIt's even worse when we start talking about books. I "acquire" them and don't read them.
I'm sorry to hear that... I will gladly take that Ronin RS 3 off your hands!! I could sure use a gimbal for my GH6. đ
I bought the A7CII, and absolutely love it. Finally have a camera that almost feels as nice to use as my old Nikon D750.
I highly recommend the SmallRig cage, though. It makes the grip so much nicer at least for me.
(I still shoot a lot on APS-C, though... I like the smaller bodies for portability, even if the grip is a little meh.)
Hi , congratulations on new camera, is it better than cr ?
Dang...I just keep looking at the new a 7C models...
@@JessicaNeidingHaverly you mean a7cii?
@@IRFAN-po5sz For me, I like it... I've settled on 20-24 megapixels as my ideal still resolution. Having more is nice, but I don't often crop in much, and am happy saving a bit of disk/transfer space not shooting 50+ MP :)
The 4K video quality of the A7C II is great, more than what I currently need, even in low-ish light. I save a little and invest that in a nicer lens!
You donât need it. At all. Breathe.
You have a portfolio of cameras and your footage in these videos is great.
Borrow or rent when you need it. Move on. TrustâŠ. Donât fall into the temptation based on a feeble thought.
That being said, DO borrow and DO rent them. Your commentary on cameras is pretty amazing.
I have the a7cr and it works very well for walk around use. With the 26mp APS-C mode, you can also make your primes much more versatile. Plus bake in LUTs to benefit from log without much grading
I want. I love my A6400 and have nice glass and vintage lenses...I cannot justify the price for this body yet...
Great vid! Totally relate to GAS as a musician and it is REAL! Thanks for sharing!
A7cr + 24mm g lens? Can crop photos like crazy. And for video can use crop mode + clear image zoom. So basically it's an amazing 24mm, a great 36mm and a good 54mm lens đ
YES!!! I have this setup too and itâs fantastic. I am going to get the 40mm G 2.5 lens too.
Honestly all the Brolls with you guys and the baby looks so cute, I'm loving it. you all are beautiful!
I follow Sara for the baby content now đ
My problem is I thought I'd solved my GAS but now watching your video has given me new GAS
Love lensrentals! I'm lucky enough to have them locally, so yeah, I spend way too much on weekend rentals.
Wow, I did not expect that video to resonate so much with me.
Thank you for sharing your experience with GAS, it definitely helps taking a step back and maybe next weekend I wonât spend a ton of money upgrading my gear again.
Stay peachy !
Literally how did this video find. I just spent the last have a day obsessing over of panel lighting and wide angle lens lenses omg. I do love gear, tools and accessories. Buuuuuut your right - Iâve been spending more time buying and worrying about new gear then actually using it. Ahhhhh!! Thankx for this. Cute couple vid â€
Great Video but even better What a cute Baby !!! congrats to you and John Many Blessings to your little family!!
Iâve been trying to implement need to have vs nice to have and it helps.
Loved this video and that ending is đ€đŸ
Love the Gretsch!
I have an A7IV and recently took the plunge and bought an A7CR for a more compact camera for travel that has higher resolution for still photography. I love it so far, and my A7IV has stayed in a video rig on a tripod ever since. I have paired it with a Sony 40mm f/2.5 and a Samyang 24mm f/1.8. I have a few other lenses but these are great for travel. Just buy it, you know you want to! đ€Ł
GAS is truly an epidemic, I relate to this. Itâs actually been destructive to my creativity. I encourage creators to start pushing more diy content, saving money tips. Better ways to spend your saved cheese. Our viewers will save some cash at least, even it ends up just being a trend.
I love love love how youâre reinventing this channel. đŻ
14:05 I love the Blackmagic app in the 15 Pro Max. Iâve mostly used it to record my live shows from a tripod or clamp mount, and I havenât published any yet. So many details make me love the app, even down to the flash-blink-on-record-start, because Iâm a one man show and crew, and I use a remote to trigger, is so handy in lieu of a tally light.
Haha the end!! âWhat?â Love it!!
Great job on the video Sara! Thanks for making it. I love the fact that the extra megapixels on the A7CR means that I have the option to pop on APS-C lenses and still have 26MP. I'm gonna be doing some testing this week with the 15mm G-Series lens on the A6700 vs the A7RV in crop mode and I can't wait to see the results.
I have a tendency to drift away from, and then back to some CZcams Channels, and yours is one of them. I have missed so much. Congrats on the baby!
I think as the baby gets older and especially running around you will find that you won't have enough time to adjust the settings on your iphone and camera fast enough to capture the moment. I have kids and I started off with the Sony A57 and found it to be too big and by the time I got the settings I wanted the kids were off somewhere else. After that it's been smart phone every time!
I have the Sony A7CR with the sigma 24-70 ART. I love this set up!! And I love this camera. 11/10 def recommend
Congratulations , you have a beautiful baby, and glad to see your videos again.
I love that you posted this and I just looked at your old Fuji XH1 video because I wanna get one. (I also have 3 guitars that I don't play) đđ
I have mental GAS tbh. When the funds are there I cop...after exhausting research that is.
Sara, your grades always hit the spot! Glad you got your issue resolved btw!
My GAS literally led me to buy a Nikon ZF this last week haha. Iâm selling some gear to mostly fund it though so I tell myself that makes it alright.
I feel your pain, I have a camera, music gear and a watch problem. I tend to skip between music and video when I feel the creative urge slip on one, and find combining them a problem đ€·ââïž
X100iv.
Smaller than the Q2, 40mp sensor, 35mm eq lens.
And you have F-log2 for video, and with IBIS.
Also has built in flash and the film sims mean you don't end up editing all the photos
Oh! That sweet montage †Love you guys
I still use a Panasonic DMC-FZ70 16mp camera. It works great for most situations.
Late to the vid, but I just traded the A7IV for an A7R5 and itâs everything I wanted the A74 to be⊠hereâs the coolest thing to me⊠I just bought a mini MF, FF, and APSC all in one⊠same for the A7RC. Being able to snag 26mp in Crop mode has revolutionized my lens collection. My 50-400 can now reach ~600mm in Crop mode, etc. Every lens has a 2nd option for me now. Amazing for travel etc⊠gives my smaller lenses more reach. To my eyes the downsampled 26mp look better than 24-26mp dedicated sensors on other platforms. As a guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, graphic artist, and photographer, I get your GAS (and agree with how it steals time from the craft)⊠thankful we have 6 children to keep it in check :).
Working as a general contractor I bought a lot of tools, now I work in a warehouse. Same problem with clothes
yess!! The video is actually really good on this too, and it doesn't overheat for long-form stuff! Try out the Sony ultra compact G primes (24, 40, 50), they're perfect for the A7c cameras!
Great video! Thank you
Loved this video, keep it up Sara
I too suffer from GAS. I find renting the equipment so useful when making a purchase decision tho. Especially for testing out lenses.
Having gone from m43 to Sony a7iv, getting the a7cr was the best choice Iâve ever made. Super fun, super small, get the 40mm 2.5 and you are doneâŠ.
And then maybe the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 for some vintage inspired manual focus fun.
What eyeglasses are you wearing if I may ask? That green frame is really nice
I love the a7rv and really like the stab on that camera. The a7cr is small but the stab is not the same. Sell the Leica and you can also buy a lens ha.
Once you put on glass it isn't really any smaller.. Might as well go for the A7RV. That would fit your needs much better.. better hybrid.
OMG I definitely have this problem.
well if staying in the sony ecosystem is important, the a7c series make sense. just like what Becki from Becki and Chris did when she chose to get one because it is a much more manageable size and making it feel less of a chore to carry = using it more. But but if you are open to other system, well the x100Vi would be a much greater everyday carry camera although it's APSC and the lens is not wide, it does have IBIS and 40MP though. (and presume if you could still get in the preorder and wait for it to actually arrive). Another great option is the nikon zf with it's 40mm compact lens, but then again 24mp and not a wide lens.
As a fuji user myself, i still feel that the A7C series is rather clunky mainly due to the lenses being big and they felt imbalance to me but then again friend's around me don't really have a lighter compact lens for me to try. lugging around my X-T4 with my 33mm lens does feels clunky to me as well a time but i do not have the funds for X100Vi and my hands are too shaky to use X100v without IBIS. (i am spoilt by ibis)
Me right now as Iâm trying to rework my camera kit so I only have things Iâll actually use. But alsoâŠ.new lenses are so pretty to look at đ
I have 2 cameras--basically all I need: ZVE-10 and DJI Osmo Action 4 and my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Iâve just purchased my first APSC camera. Iâm excited to go down the rabbit hole
congrats on the kid sara!
You are looking more beautiful by the day âš
I've also been struggling with deciding on buying the Sony Rx100 for on the go. BUT my main camera is Canon EOS R. And i could use that money to buy a way better lens for my professional setup
As someone with a 6Dii and an iPhone 15 Pro, I sure know that 90% of my photos and videos are taken with my iPhone. Family photos and videos are about the moment captured, and my phone is always in my pocket. I have to be intentional to get the nice glass out to take photos, which is rare these days. But I still love the quality I get out of a full frame sensor with some fast glass, canât be beat.
Yo, nice Gretsch Sara... I wanted to get one of those
I bought an A7CII to be my main camera (minus important events where I need two cards) and it just didn't fit the bill for portability. I don't have tiny sony lenses I have large primes, and i'm not willing to spend more money on lenses that I don't actually like that much. Plus I needed a camera that would give me great JPEGs, and the files that come SOC just aren't good enough, and don't transfer easily to my phone.
So I got an X100V, and that fits the bill as my every day/walk around camera.
I gave into the gas. Twice.
I grabbed an a7c for basically the same reasons as an all the time purse camera and I absolutely love it. Once I can get an a7cr used for a reasonable price Iâll Absolutely upgrade to it. I think the 24-50 is an amazing lens combo on my a7c, it should be even better on the cr.
I kind of wish you had also put the lens and focal length corresponding to the shots in the bottom right like you did with the camera name in the bottom left.
Purchase the black A7CR gray market w/ no tax and it can reduce some of the guilt, haha. The silver one has a markup. I'm thinking about doing it đŻ
Markus of Markuspix primarily uses the RX100 for video (he has three of them). He is a visual artist by trade so he is very sensitive to color imbalances in the sensor. He bought and returned the A7 IV because of this and sticks with his several A7 IIIs (he bought and returned the original A7 R5 but then rebought it when they fixed the color science).
I've been using my iPhone more and more for vlogs, just because it's easier to carry around and most of all, people don't give me weird looks when I vlog with it. I do still use my full frame from time to time, but I don't rely on it to be my only way to capture footage for my travels.
Yep. Bought a Nikon S2 Rangefinder recently. Will I shoot with it? Probably not. But it looks cool. GAS is a serious issue.
Nice Gretch though. Definitely in my to buy list one day.
If youâre struggling with whether or not you need it. Because price should not be the factor whether you decide to buy something or not. It should be are you really gonna get you sound a bit. Because That will determine whether you should buy or not. Having the latest and greatest isnât always the best thing.
I have the a7RV and love the 61MP. Honestly I'd sell the Q2 and buy the a7CR. Maybe buy one of the compact pancake lenses for it for a candid shots but throw a 24MM F1.4 on it for something fun and bulkier.
1 way I deal with GAS is just put the item nto the shopping cart, and kinda forget it. After 1 week, I will re-check the shopping cart and re-estimate if I need it at all. If I still want it after 1 week, I will buy it and usually the item is useful and will not be thrown away after a couple times of use.
What camera did you use to record this video?
Yeah, I feel you on this whole gas situation. I keep buying Peteâs pirate life stuff and I donât know why. At least itâs really high-quality stuff
I got the Blackmagic Cam too. Itâs the only movie camera app I use on my iPhone 15 Max Pro.
As for the Sony purchaseâŠthe more pixels the betterâŠnuf said!
i have GAS too lolz , every year when i look at the new APPLE ad (i stopped myselg from buying a new one since iphone 12) but as a gamer it is so hard to deal with it
go up to the A7 RV as its not much bigger and its a beast!
I own so many microphones that I definitely don't need... Although I will say, it makes things a little bit more exciting when I sit down to record a video because I get to switch things up every time haha
I mean the a7s3 didn't look that much bigger... I feel like the bigger question is what lens to take on those easy going trips.
(Also the Iphone looked good in all scenarios except with the harsh backlight. Not enough dynamic range for Iphone or h.265?)
Is square space a one-time payment or it's a monthly subscription thing?
I keep my gas somewhat in check by playing with older high end camera bodies and vintage lenses. It helps if you don't have much disposable income, but mainly some of the older cameras are still absolutely amazing machines (I got my A7r2 for 900 bucks and it was barely used). Of course if money was no issue, I would probably also get that A7CR... I'd love a more compact body with all the latest features (one thing that sold me on the high resolution bodies is that you can use APSC mode with a decent megapixel count or even use APSC lenses for the lightest travel setups). But yeah, 3k is a substantial chunk... ;)
The more important question would be, could you part with the Q2 and the dreadful ZV... you could probably get more than you'd need for the A7CR... ;)
I know I'm just a random viewer but watching Sarah come this far feels me with pride you know the kind you'd have watching your daughter succeed
My wife just bought me the a7cii for my birthday. Iâm new to Sony, so Iâm starting with the kit lens, but I have two thoughts. The small size is the draw for me. Iâm ogling compact lenses to pair with it now. Can I live with a prime lens (sigma f2 iseries)? I donât think the body is worth it if you chunk it up with huge lenses. I also donât know that Iâll ever need more megapixels. My other camera is an R6 (less mega pixels) and I have never had an issue with those images. Ask yourself if youâve ever done something with your images that properly needed that image size. Answer is likely no.
Just sold my FF Nikon kit for an a6700 kit and the RX100 VA and RX100 VII !! Love those little RX's! Made soooo solid (as you say) and the dynamic range and IQ is so good from that little 1" sensor! (I'm mainly a stills shooter but starting to do more video) đâ„
I have bad GAS right now, I want the Sigmonster 800mm but luckily I can't find it anywhere.
love 80s like movie ending
You should get the A7CII. Itâs the same but âjustâ 33MP. But itâs better for video (because less MP) and itâs 1000$ less
I'm having GAS too. i have been wanting to buy A7C (original one) for nearly 4 years but never made the call. I am sure i am not gonna be able to use it's full potential but i really want a true camera option with me. i never liked APS-C sensor so FF is my option. I am hopefully gonna buy this year in couple of months
Where did you rent it from?
incredible ending đ đ đ
Iâve been very gassy lately⊠but for old film cameras LoL. Whatâs weird is I normally talk myself out of it but eventually give in. I know have 3 film cameras and Iâm considering one more đ.
A7CR is terrific...but IMO you really gotta roll with the compact primes to get the most out of that form factor. The Sony 40mm f/2.5 on that body will change your life, lol.
This guitat is in standard tuning, but this one is a half step up while this other one is half step down. now i need this one in drop d tuning. now what if i want to play some clapton well i need a fender. but now i want to play guns and roses well les paul. i could go on and at one point i had 9 guitars. now i have 9 cameras.
Funny. An iPhone 15 Pro Max in a rig with Blackmagic or Apple ProRes does a heck of a lot. Doesnât even need external mics for most uses as the stereo mics zoom with the lens.
My new Fuji X100VI is also a great âkeeperâ.
Never understood the Sony thing amongst younger users.
Canon is the top pro camera gear of choice for a reason, DSLR or mirrorless.
The L glass is stunning and has been for decades.
On a recent trip to China I was with a pro photographer. He only had an R5, a 50mm 1.2 L and a 16-35mm 2.8L. His images were superb quality. He thought my X100VI was about 85% of the quality and great for travel work.
He had tried Sony but junked it. Build quality, reliability, lens resolutionâŠâŠall worse than Canon pro.
Maybe a Q3 would be a pro alternative but far less versatility than his minimalist travel kit.
bicycles and motorbikes are also the same. the GAS is severe. started from replacing small parts, then turns to modding small parts, then larger and larger parts, then you change frame, then you MAKE frame, after few years you have a full fledged bike repair facility
Umm Fuji x100vi? Sounds like thatâs exactly what youâre looking for. Iâm a dad and I captured my daughters first 5 years of life on the x100v and now have recently upgraded to the 6. The megapixel bump is absolutely perfect. Also captures 6.2k video with flog 2 and has ibis and Internal nd filter with a flick of a switch. Legit canât go wrong for a EDC. Loved the video lol. We all have GAS. I say embrace it yolo. đȘđŒ
Best ending to a video ever!
I mean cameras are cool, but I came for the baby pics.
I just bought a second ZV-1 and A Blackmagic G2 mini. Never going back to full sized cameras again! :)
What lut did you use on the apple log?
we defiantly need to be talking about GAS more, its been a real problem for me in my creative journey over the years, getting in the way of actually doing the thing its great for the fearful avoidance in me. iv been working for the last 10 years or so now on what I'm calling Essentialism in my setup where I have my core stuff but my general rule is now. use it or lose it. iv sold a lot of stuff over the last 2 years and it has made life much easer. do I need 20 pedals when 5 pedals and a laptop can do everything creatively that I want? at what point does having more things to learn to use become a distraction from creating and productivity rather than an aid to it. Working in audio, music, video and photography my wishlist for stuff will always be a thing but these days I'm limiting my self to maybe one or two purchases a year and generally also getting rid of a few things as my setup evolves to suit me needs. best lesson iv learned is that productivity and creativity are often enhanced by subracting and limiting options rather than adding. my moto is Simplify to find the sweet spot where work can flow. Getting in the weeds with tech or thinking about how much better this could be with this new tech, can all really divert me anyway from my original creative intent.. anyway. i really want that gretch guitar you have there.. beautiful! oh and a new Camera so I can crop more.. that can do the thing ,, that thing that I need to do now.
to Sara recamera: I mean I'm sure you should get it if. you sell some other stuff that you don't use, the other camera you talked about never using in the video. that's what 1/3rd of the cost right there? i don't know but I'm sure you could find most of the cost in things to sell that you don't use. :) and then I think loving the stuff we are actually using is important so balance GAS with essentailism what we don't use we sell so we can play with the cool stuff we will use. that's my solution anyway.
I bought the a7CR recently at a discount. Mainly because of the sensor which I think will be awesome for a long time. Thought of it more of a budget a7RV. Though without the hefty discount, would probably have reconsidered. It has been awesome. Also, I wanted it as more of a photo-first camera. So chose it over the A7CII.
Nice decision, so a7Cii is a video-first camera ?
@@IRFAN-po5sz I think it is posed more as a perfect hybrid. Like the a7IV.
