Can I beat a randomized version of Pokémon Platinum using Hardcore Nuzlocke rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode
Randomizer Settings
Pokémon Traits:
Change Impossible Evolutions
Starters, Statics, & Trades:
Starter Pokémon - Random (basic Pokémon with 2 evolutions)
Static Pokémon - Random (Legendary -- Legendary & Normal -- Normal)
In-Game Trades - Randomize both Requested & Given Pokémon
Trainer Pokémon:
Random
Rival carries starter through game
Try to use Pokémon with similar strength
Don't use legendaries
No Early Wonder Guard
Force Fully Evolved at Level 36
Wild Pokémon:
Area 1-to-1 Mapping

When cynthia had her Garchomp randomize into a Garchomp it was hilarious.

Im pretty sure it was either going to randomize into a garchomp, salamance, or legendary so I'd say it had a pretty good chance of being a garchomp lol.

fair enough though. larvitar is pretty weak, has many weaknesses and evolves super late. spheal is more useful

When you imagine pokemon dying instead of fainting in nuzlockes, watching Cleffa forcibly coerce Banette into literally killing itself right there on the battlefield is the most metal thing I’ve ever seen in Pokémon

Cynthia's Garchomp so powerful it randomized into a Garchomp
I once did a HGSS randomized run with the setting that every major trainer (gym leaders, Elite 4 and Champion) would have a monotype team of a randomized type, plus the "same strength mons" option.
Lance's team was Ghost type and his Dragonites randomized into freaking Giratinas.

Original idea for you - Hardcore Nuzlocke (choose your game, although I’d suggest Emerald or Platinum) and use only “Cool Moves” (you can also do a challenge with Clever, Tough, Cute, etc.)
That's a pretty *cool* idea haha. I'm actually pretty tempted to do that myself.

Walrein is literally one of my fav Pokémon and gets so little love due to coming in so late in the game. I strongly approve that starter choice

i recently did a randomlocke in FR, and can confirm, Zangoose is a BEAST and mine didn't even have SD
I’ve played sapphire so many times, and one gym trainer in the normal gym has a a zangoose and it’s always scary

This has probably already been mentioned at some point here, but on the chance it hasn't: from all the randomizers I have seen of Platinum, whether it be of my own, or someone else's, I've come to the conclusion that Giratina in the Distortion World is absolutely hard-coded to be Giratina, as I have never once seen it be randomized. At least, via the Universal Randomizer that the majority of people do use. It's possible that some other randomizers can change it, but I do not know if they can; this is just me covering bases in case they can.
I remember the triolocke of MandJTV Pokemen7 and Purplecliffe in which Gira changed to be azelf. Why do I remember this? Coz azelf changed to giratina...so that was fun
Yeah, it's possible that they used a different randomizer for their run than the standard Universal Randomizer, as all five playthroughs (three of which being my own playthroughs, and one being Flygon's here) I've seen that used the standard UPR, all had Giratina, despite all of them having randomized legendaries . Did either of the three of them say which randomizer they used for their Triolocke?
I've only used Universal Randomizer ZX in recent memory so don't know if it applies to the OG, but in that one there's a box to check that lets it randomize static Pokemon with high BSTs (aka randomize legendaries) and either it's not in the OG Universal Randomizer or people forget to check it/don't notice it
I use Ajarmars version of the universal randomizer as the regular one is hot garbage. It'll rando everything, giratina included. It's a better tuned version overall.
I figured that any randomization that changed Giratina would be the Ajarmar one. I've only used that for the 3DS games (since the universal one doesn't work for it), but if I do other randomizers in the future, I'll probably use that one for it.
I don't think I've seen someone do a randomizer in this style of video, personally randomizers are my favorite style of play, so this is gonna be good!

So glad to see the ‘similar strengths’ rule in use. As great as route one dialgas are for the memes, reasonable replacements work better for a strategic playthrough.
I always put that option too; it leaves the immersion a bit more intact imo
I remember a randomizer Nuzlocke where the Zubats in Mt. Moon were all Regirock with Explosion.

This was the only randomiser I’ve ever seen that was enjoyable to watch. I usually despise randomisers because of how half of the elite four Pokemon are horrible first stage Pokemon. But with your changes the game became really competitive and fun to watch. Thanks for blessing us with another episode of why you’re the best tuber

I love how around ten minutes into the video (spoilers ahead) he calls Chikorita/Bayleef “Lemon” even though Pikachu was named that, and it died. But he keeps switching between calling Chikorita/Bayleef “Lemon” and “Pear”.
Yo Flygon a monotype nuzlocke you should try is mono flying on X and Y with the added rule of having to do every sky battle. You can make some extra rule to limit the encounters since there are like 50 which makes it super easy.
That why i never count a city as a route

i never know the randomizer had an option to match strengths! that was the main thing that’s always put me off randomizers, as you have legendaries and fully evolved forms left and right. maybe i’ll do one of my own.
Yeah, honestly it put me off for a long time as well, but I went ahead and tried it and it's very customizable. You can even set random starters that have 2 evos instead of possibly getting something that doesn't have a EVO at all.
Love that you've randomised it to a degree that still makes it fun and not entirely random! Love the concepts of randomisers but they often become extremely easy late game
yeah, depends en your radomizations and ruleset, for example, you can randomize the moveset so pokemon can learn a lot of random moves, or random moves mostly their type/s getting a chandelurewith fiery dance at level 30, with water absord as ability :T

The only difference I'd make on the randomizer settings would be to make gym leader's pokemon the all the same random type. At least that way you could battle one trainer in the gym and get an idea of what their team might be and build a strategy around that.

It's so nice to see trade only evolutions in being used. I remember discovering the hard way back in gen 1 that my Machoke and Hunter wouldn't reach their 3rd form because of that. Same with one Graveler I had in another playthrough.
I guess that being able to get the evolution at that time by playing the right way (with a gameboy + gameboy trade) must have been wonderful. But for those like who only had the emulator, it was frustrating.
After playing Pokemon games for many, many years - randomizer is definitely my favorite thing these days! Fun and unpredictable for nuzlockes, or even casual runs. Gives you a nice new touch to something you've played to death.

@@bingboy6711 Well at least not in a nuzlocke. I usually don't FULLY randomize trainer Pokemon. I keep the trainer theme so I don't get soft locked because they have wonder guard at the first gym or end up with fighting a pure ghost type with Pokemon with only Normal type moves sheerly because of bad luck.
But it does give you a small chance to at least plan around their main typing.
It’s amazing how well you use the silence and buildup to create tension about crits or burns I love it!

I'm going to be honest with you. You bring a very different air to the pokemon nuzlocking style and I simply love it. A lot of people that do this kind of stuff to me just feel like they are goofing off more than they are taking it seriously and for me its very hard to watch.
So, You have definitely earned my subscription and you deserve many more.

A nuzlock of hacks like renegade platinum or sacred gold is HELL
you should do a nuzlocke while only using mons that are pre fairy like ralts or clefable
