And each time, some people criticize these earnings which are, it’s fair to say, huge and very impressive! Why are footballers paid so much? Are footballers paid too much? We try to answer these questions in the 6th episode of Money Time! Oh My Goal’s economic show!

Being a doctor or engineer is guaranteed if u study 8 hours a day from your highschool life, but being a soccer player or an pro athlete is hard asf, only 1% make it to the top clubs in the world n their first team n the national team. The amount of work n dedication u have to put for the sport in order to succeed is inhuman, n don’t forget not all pro athletes get paid the same, if u go to USA, Asia, Africa n then even some South American countries, the lower professional league players earn only 50 to 70k a year. Even in Europe the lower division pro players get paid really low, don’t think that just cuz the biggest leagues in the world are on the spotlight so that means all the players make millions, only the players playing on the top leagues n national team gets paid like that, there are about 2000 professional lower league players in a country on average, everyone wants to be in the premier league, la liga, serie - A but only 1% make it.

To put it simply, it’s the amount the employers (clubs) are willing to pay. These footballers then earn that money back for their clubs through sponsorships and viewership etc. and if there was opportunity for another club to buy a player and potentially make more money than they sacrificed from the fee, then it would either get the existing club to increase salary so they stay (up until the point that they’re no longer making profit) or the footballer would leave. If someone argues they should be paid less, than that would work... until other parties immediately bring that price back up by offering their correct (and higher) values. It’s all demand and supply, so the best footballers attract the richest clubs.

Also you have to realize that football is not a job that you can work in 8 hour shifts or "9 to 5". It is 7/24. On a regular job, you just occupy yourself during the work hours, after that, no one can disturb you, ask you something. Your mind is free of work. You can sit on your ass all day be lazy, eat pizza, play video games, go shopping. You can do whatever you want.
As a footballer though, you are responsible for every action you take even when outside the training and the games. What time you go to sleep, what do you eat, drink, what do you do in your free time. A high paid professional footballer cannot sit on coach for 4 hours and watch TV or play video games, he must stretch, take supplements, prepare meals, his gym bag, get massage if necessary, do additional physical work, plan his next day. It is a job that takes all of your time. Your life is your job.
In addition, retirement age is much younger than other professions. This means despite the fact you earn a lot of money (not in case of Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi but for an average good player), even if you earn 5-10.000 USD per month, you cannot just go and spend this money on stuff, since you have to keep collecting for retirement. You will have at least 25-30 years of life when you are still relatively a young person that have children and expenses.
Uncertainty. In a regular 9-5 job, people usually are sick and tired of their jobs. Their employers and managers usually want to keep them as long as it is possible, with some exceptional cases. In football however, you might earn shit tons of money one year and next year you might be without a club and never see that salary again until your retirement. It is high risk, high commitment and painful career. It is physically and emotionally demanding on extreme levels.
You will have to live abroad. You will not have the comfort of living where you were born and raised. You will have to part ways with your family and friends. You will miss birthdays, anniversaries, funerals. You wont be able to see loved ones for many months. And yes, being rich wont save you due to your busy schedule, you wont even have time and energy for a weekend fly. Even if you find, it will be considered irresponsible by the coach and media, they will judge you for such actions.
And after all, it is literally though. The 1.5 hour match is tip of the iceberg. The days spent under heavy rain and wind trying to train, being refused by teams, coaches, agents and trying over and over again is unseen on the TV.
When you consider all these, it is okay if couple of guys make millions of bucks and rest make slightly more than the average 9-5 job.

Stuff like this is the reason why ppl don’t know how business work. Football is more than just entertaining, it’s also business. The players, managers, scouts, trainers, coaches, Janitors, security, the club’s board Members and their wages, the stadium maintenance I don’t know if other countrieshave property tax or land value tax or corporation tax or building tax or whatever,
The cost of living, the economy, etc.
The question is: Where does our taxes go?
So, in America, PART of it goes to unemployment benefits so imagine yourself WORKING 9 to 5, receiving paychecks and paying taxes and YOUR tax dollars goes to a person that has no job and chose not to FIND A JOB and instead receive that money that YOU WORKED FOR.
I’m not saying all homeless ppl and all people that have no job are LAZY BUMS but I can’t assume that it’s 1% of those ppl that are lazy, it’s MORE than that.
I AGREE that health workers and public service workers that saved lives deserved higher wages. I’m not arguing against that. Im not saying millionaire and rich ppl should not pay taxes. I’m saying that you can’t trust the government responsible for your money.
That’s why rich ppl spend their money on BITCOIN, the stock market or CHARITY.
Would you be ok giving your tax dollars to a lazy bum that doesn’t want to work? It shows that what if YOU and other workers should stop working and receive these benefits too? Why bother working?
Let’s make rich ppl pay higher taxes so we shouldn’t work, right? Well, the QUESTION YOU SHOULD ASK YOURSELVES IS THIS: What if these rich ppl have enough and decide to leave the country and want to live in a cheaper country? where is our money now?
You understand why rich ppl are very important? You can’t tax them too much or else they will leave. YOU GUY NEED THEM TO STAY IN YOUR COUNTRY OR ELSE YOUR ECONOMY IS GONE. You ppl need to realize that.

They work most weekends. They miss weddings, parties, and family events. They have to be away from their families often. They borderline abuse their bodies for work. They can be fired for any or no reason at all, and one injury can be the end of it all. Most of them have sacrificed their childhoods to get where they are. Even after they stop playing, most of them can't have a normal life because people recognize them, and "fans" sometimes bully them and their families. If you ask me, they deserve every bit of what they make. I don't make $2,000 an hour, but I get to enjoy every weekend, my job rarely gets in the way of a family event, I never have to stay longer than I agreed to, I will get unemployment if I'm let go, and my job stops impeding on my life the moment I clock out.

More money actually generates desire inside the people to work more if u will pay every body same amount then the desire to work more will be gone

It's fair to said that start-up with one million dollars is much more fancy than at your garage. And even when that they just earn 1/10 compare to their golden time - Well, .....1/10 of 20 millions is much much more better than average person can earn.
