Mohun Bagan Athletic Club (India) never signed a foreign player till the late 80's Or early 90's. That makes almost 100 years playing with only home grown talent(the club was formed in 1889). The club competed with huge physicality and power of foreign players of other clubs with all home-grown talent only, most of them were from Bengal.
This club has huge history. They played against British club East Yorkshire and defeated them to clinch the IFA Shield in 1911 when the country was under British rule.
Chuni Goswami, one of the best ever talents the country has ever produced, denied offers from Spurs to play for his beloved Mohun Bagan. Such was the pride, love, dedication. @ohmygoal please make a video on Mohun Bagan Athletic Club. You guys will get the most number of views and the world would get to know about us! ❤
As a black person, I strongly believe Athletic Bilbao should maintain this policy for the next 200 years and beyond. Demographics will change with time and so will the race composition. To maintain identity, they should continue to stress Basque birth right as a must and local Basque upbringing where possible. They are truly the definition of developing home grown talent and that is why they have never been relegated from La Liga. There is no need for them to invest in ridiculous transfer fees for expensive players like Ronaldo, Messi etc. They are maintaining the financial health of the club with the resources they have and they will always have a supply line of Basque talent.
The only way Athletic Club will suffer relegation is if greedy individuals get into positions of power and destroy the club's culture and identity. And yes, as a black person, I don't think this policy is racist. Its probably one of the best policies ever crafted in football.
it's a regionalist policy at best, limited to some areas in Northern Spain.
Very well said.
The presenter is definitely Bruno's brother, and the irony of mentioning it, that's no coincidence 🤣🤣
Iñaki is a proper legend. And so is Atheltic. Beautiful club. They are a shining light in a dark age of hyper-commercialized football, doing things their own way, cultivating talent from the region. Love it.
For those of you that don’t know Iñaki is basque. It’s not a racial policy.. some clubs around the world have similar policies. Just Brazil or Argentina will never be coached by a foreigner..

I want Arsenal to do this, at least the passion would be there
@Ihaab ooh, someone's got a chip on their shoulder. Let me put it this way. Arsenal have 3 potentially world class players; Saka, Smith-Rowe and Martinelli. 2 of them grew up knowing how prestigious Arsenal are and grew an affinity as they grew up with Arsenal. If Martinelli reaches his full potential at a time when Arsenal are hopefully a major player in Europe again but Madrid come calling he'll be off straight away just like Ronaldo did at United. Saka and Smith-rowe are more likely to want to fight to make Arsenal great. Your ignorant retort didn't deserve a response but there you go, hopefully you understand.
@Ihaab well then that's on you, but you bringing skin colour into it is stupid. Which is probably why you can't see the correlation. I'll try this, who do you think cares more about Arsenal or feels more honoured to play for Arsenal, someone from Britain and Ireland or someone from other European countries or Africa/Asia/America(s)?

There's a club in Premier League called Burnley. I don't recall seeing a black player since they been in Premier League. Funny thing is nobody seems to notice or calls them out on it.
Pretty sure they’ve had a black player before. I mean I believe in 2000 was like the first time they had their first non-British player.
@@CalyGamer13 I didn't say non british, I said black players as in non white.
The only one I can think of is Aaron Lennon few years back, who is white skinned mixed race. And apparently I've heard that Dwight McNeil is black but if you see the guy he looks white with really dark hair. That is appalling in this day and age.
Easy to explain if you were not always looking for something to get offended by. Burnley is a very small town/city with a 0.2% population. They very rarely even sign players and as the comment above you mentioned which you failed to understand, they only did sign their first non-English player in the 2000s. Also does Lennon being light skin make him less black? If that isn’t enough, they have a very dark black player named Joel mumbongo. Take a look at their roster alone, they have only 7 non-English players currently and even of those 7, about 3 are Irish. There is your answer
@@aquilabamigbade3473 I don't think you get the point mate. What I'm saying is it doesn't look good. Seeing as every other team has several. And as for Lennon I did not imply he's less black, rather him being the only one had to be a fair skinned. It's Burnley's selection criteria I'm questioning. Mate I don't care what explanation you give it's proper odd.
@@ShahabUddin-ss3bm What I’m trying to tell you is that this is less of a case of a club intentionally excluding black players rather, it is a situation of a small club that rarely even brings in non-local players. Why are you making it a box to be checked? There shouldn’t be a quota for picking players. Like I said the town of burnley has a black population of 0.2% and rarely makes transfers so it’s much more logical than you make it out to be.

Since this video came out, Malcom Adu Ares has debuted for the team, making him the fourth black player to suit up in an official match. Junior Bita and Alemu Plazaola look like they can make the first team in the next 5 years. At the u16 level, theres Abdoulaye Maiga and Ardaitz Villorejo (half Afro-Colombian) and a bunch of other guys. Theres even an afro-basque kid from Bilbao who's now starring for Villarreal's youth team. By 2030, it really won't be rare at all for Athletic to field players of African or other non-Basque heritage. Its just that until 25-30 years ago, most of the immigration to the area came from poorer regions of Spain. Ernesto Valverde was a non-Basque "immigrant", for example, just one from the Extremadura region who arrived with his parents as a small kid.

The only addition I would do to Athletic's philosophy, would be the ability to sign players from all over the world who speak basque. Euskara, the basque language, is an unique language and also is considered for basques as a national identification card. People not born in the basque country who speak the language are treated like basques themselves. That would open a door for a lot of kids (mostly basque descendants) in the world, who play football and also learn the language in the Euskal Etxeak (cultural basque houses) all over the globe. The belonging sense from those kids would be almost the same as players developed in the Basque Country, and would open the scouting borders for countries like Argentina, Chile or Uruguay.
