Scotty I drive a 2003 camry xle with 129k miles. And it makes a ticking noise on the front driver side. It speeds up as I gain speed and slows when i decrease.
@Scotty Kilmer That is the only time I like a automatic tranny, you can take while setting still and go from reserve to drive and if CVT or UNIVERSAL JOINTS are bad, they will clunk in same matter, harder to do that with manual though, but can use hands to check for slack.
@@isaiah3127 Cvj/axle, turn the wheel and pull forward or backward with wheel turned, if popping is included, it's the axle itself. Hope that helps.
Hi Mr Scotty I have 00 Toyota camry tell me this what could the problem say you full of tank on Tuesday morning and then next morning it's half way next half of tank what could be problem 🤔
Easy fix...just turn up the radio.
😂

I prefer this type of videos, simple, straight to the point, no music, no intros.
I feel the same way.
God, Scottys son really won the lottery didnt he...
Even his grandson did.
Literally they're going to inherit Millions
The bible compares our life to a vapor that quickly disappears, or a plant that is here today and gone tomorrow. Do you think about what happens after you are gone? Where is your soul going? Have you heard of a place called heaven and a place called hell? Today I want to urge you to surrender your life to God. Salvation is gifted to us from God out of pure love. All we need to do is believe and follow Jesus Christ. This scripture sums it up.
For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Turn your life over to Christ today, tomorrow may be too late. If you have any comments or questions feel free to ask me.

I ALWAYS hear a loud clunk when I let off the gas pedal... Unfortunately it's my knee making the noise. 😆
Sounds like it's time to get your knee replaced😃
Sounds like a worn knee joint making noise when relieving pressure. Time to inspect it. Best case scenario, replace the joint, worst case scenario, replace the whole knee. 😉
💀🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Dana Danarosana Rofl glad I ain't the only one.
@Dana U hilarious!!!
Ive never prayed so much since I started watching Scotty 😂🙏
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My truck is DOOMED....
😭😭😭😭💔 🚚💨
I always check in to make sure I'm not stupid.
Literally my wifes car just started making noise on the right side cv-joint, last year I replaced her cv-joint on the left side. Kinda sus you posted this today as im doing an inspection on the vehicle. Keep up the great work Scotty!
My old truck i had 1985 GMC. U joint wore out and the clunking drove me nuts. Easy fix DIY. Best truck I ever had. I bought it I was 17 and second owner. It finally broke down on me when I was 31 or 32. By this point I was wasting money to keep it running. Anything needed fixed. I could do it myself. I learned how to fix whatever needed. Long before CZcams and internet was around.
If your car has a steering wheel and four wheels and tires, get rid of it! Get your self a 94 celica and you dont have to worry about it! 🤣
Mine cluncks when i get off the gas but i think it's motor mounts. I'll defintely check my CV joints too though, good tip Scotty
My bicycle has bad cv joints
My push mower has a bad DCT, can you help me?
My jeep is slowly getting fixed because of you.
Now I must pray until the morning.
It could be a ball joint or a tie rod I have had this happen due to this in a hoda according
My old suburban began to clunk when I was on a trip from Little Rock to Tucson AZ. I drove it home later in the week and took it to my independent mechanic. He listened to it and said, a bad U-joint. After he replaced it with a new one, he said, How long did you drive it with this noise...I said around 2000 miles at Highway speeds. He was shocked! Because when he dropped the drive shaft the U-joint fell out in 6 pieces! HA HA HA...Guess I got the goodie outta that part!
You got lucky
@Mike Amazing!
I’m from Tucson!
Yup…my transmission does this on my 00’ GMC Sierra. When I let off the gas I hear the gears chattering.🤷🏻♂️
Chattering like a room full of women. 🤣
Ppl be thinking that transmission oil never wears out, at least all my coworkers, cause the dealer/mechanic told them to never change it🤦🏻♂️. It’s true if it has over 150K miles and never done it before.
ive drove a clunking transmission vehicle for 2 years before before i got rid of it and it kept driving but was annoying
Haha “ if your car turns into a “clunker” now you know what to do with it”
I was on a forum for Jeeps and I read that the clunk sound that owners of certain older Grand Cherokee models hear is actually suppose to happen when the transmission is "learning" how to change gears according to how you have been driving. It didn't sound right and I don't think they were joking. I thought it had to be an inside joke or something.
Heard that in the transmission of my Dodge Neon when I had it years ago...well...yep...
Yeah, I have the exact same problem with my FWD car. I also have a bad left outer CV joint, that makes noise when turning sharp left unde throttle, so I think that is what is making clunking noise when deccelerating aswell.
In my case a mechanic didnt reinstall the exhaust right when he did my catalytic converter, i need to buy one of your shirts that say "if you want something done right, do it yourself" overcharged and underwealemed, he was also supposed to change the o2 sensors and oil neither got done but he did find my radar detector and "borrowed" it
buddy of mine's ol' Civic does that in overdrive. Still rolls down the road. 😊
is his car still goin?
I had the same noise but it was a loss wheel nuts. Tire shop did not put the wheel nuts on tight.
Scotty Kilmer Saint of all used car owners, we pray to you 🙏.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 lololol!!!! 💀💀💀💀
These are golden nuggets every video
Mine does it after I decelerate and then immediately start to accelerate, pretty hard.
same. And it feels like something will snap if I do it in 1st
Mine did the exact same, was rear u-joint. Really cheap part.
That sounds more like the tranny if it’s really hard unfortunately I should check mine because it doesn’t do it a lot mainly from stop hard flooring it
Same here
This was right on time for me
Me too
It depends on the vehicle though. Usually you'll get a clunk noise when you go to put it in to gear if it's a motor mount on a 79 Buick Electra. If it's a 2006 to 2011 Honda Civic usually you don't get a clock noise when the motor mounts are acting up it's usually a top motor mountain so you get a rattling sound between 20 miles an hour to 45 miles an hour in the front end. If but a grass of shifting usually indicate slipping gears
I pay more attention to Scotty than my professors.
Scotty is your professor.
how are your grades
I came here to find out what’s going on with my car making a sound and got entertained instead lol. This is a great commerical😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Best "clunker" definition ever!
Thanks friend love ❤️ the video stay strong 💪
I just want to bring my car to this guy. I own the one car he said not to buy, the 335i 😂
Beamer fever....
Scotty been saving me for years
Faint knocking when coming to a stop and idling. It does not sound like rod knock, doesnt get loud either higher rpms. Fwd lexus es300, it also doesn’t always make noise, its on and off
I’m having the same issue
You are a breath of fresh air
my lexus rx 350 started doing this. it was a transmission sensor.
Scotty is not appriciated in society enough. If all the bug auto manufactures listened to Scotty for once I think he could actually convince them to develop modern glass headlights that are built to last instead of being built to be replaced .if the headlights aren't built to least, that tells you a lot about the vehicle itself as a whole imo. I have an old 2000 Toyota solara and it has plastic headlights and taillights, and the taillights still look new, the headlights are getting a little yellow but they're still in amazing shape considering the age. The blinker housings however, work still, but might not be a bad idea to replace some day. So at least my old Toyota was built with quality that even the plastic is lasting. But man, who wants to spend 40k on a truck just to have a faded clunker in 15-20 years? I want something built to be abused and in 15-20 years is just getting broken in. Something I can abuse and then give to my future kids when I someday have them for them to abuse too and then do the same.
Another great video, keep em coming
I have replaced my rack and pinion, my tie rods inner and outer, my ball joints and my cv axels, still clunking. Its the strut lol
What about after you’ve stopped and your foot is still on the brake? I have ‘07 Sierra 2WD 1500 5.3L V8 with 147,000 miles. The transmission fluid & filter were changed along with the rear axle grease/fluid.
With me it was caused by the bolts in one of the wheels being worn down and loose.
That clonking is very daily for me😂😂😂 My moms car is such an luxury pooper😂😂😂
Dear scotty I have a toyota tundra and my wife a sequoia both do this...I have been told it's normal but it definitely scares me is this normal for a 2007 toyota tundra/sequoia??? Thank you God bless!!
Why does my miata want to stall after start up please and thank you your the best ever
How about when you accelerate
Make green platain pure( it'll turn into starch) and drop some sawdust and stuff it inside the transmission... For your own use of course ... you'll forget about it...
I appreciate the energy you put in your voice. It makes paying attention easier, ahaha. Keep up the great content
I have a question , I have a Chrysler town and country 2001 . I was having a few issues with my car so I took it to get scanned the scanner said I have a bad ecm so I replaced it and got it reprogrammed . My car however decides to jerk when I’m coming to a complete stop or it will turn completely off , what could this problem be ? I replaced the computer , spark plugs and wire , coil pack , alignment, brakes and rotors I just can’t figure out what is causing my car to do this ! I even took it to professionals they said I need a new coil pack cause my spark plugs aren’t get the right amount of energy. Please help me please !
You seem to suggest every problem on a car means stop your car is dead! Hardly helpful and untrue
Thats not what he is saying. If you keep driving it there is a large chance it could ruin more expensive parts of the car though. Better to get the noises addressed rather than ruining your transmission which could cost more than the car is worth to fix.
I wish I could HEAR the noise you're describing. I describe the noise my 2015 Accord V6 as tapping noise 🤔😳
I had a bad motor mount once. I squirted some silicone in there and never had a problem after that
My gmc clunked: bad u-joint
Yeah I'm replacing my motor mounts for my 64 when I go into drive or park it clunks a little so I think it could be bad motor mounts.
thank you, you are our obd :)
Hey Scotty! Long time viewer. You’ve fixed so many of my issues over the years. I recently bought a 97 Dodge Ram for $1100 with 160k on it. Drove it 200 miles back to my house. Theres a puddle of ATF in my driveway. Is this something worth fixing? Or just trying to cut my losses and sell it.
I have the same issue with a 95 Chrysler Lebaron, I'm sure there is moderate damage on the gears. Did it struggle at intersections to go, or at any time when you went up a gear? I noticed this on the Chrysler because the low ATF from the leak was causing it to go to one side every time I made a right on red or any other sharp turn so the fluid wasn't lubricating enough. I just keep a jug of high mileage ATF and put 6oz of Lucas oil stop slip/stop leak in it and refilled it with ATF, the leak is slow and I top it off but the seals are definitely blown. See if you have any shavings or burnt fluid on the ATF dipstick.
Any leak is usually a simple fix, can you exactly pinpoint the leak? Find the source first and then make sure it’s not leaking into anything else that’s important.
Have an old truck that leaked. Found all the transmission pan bolts loose. Try tightening them and see. Hope it's that simple for you.
@@johnchandler1687 I hope it's that easy for me
you should diagnose it. might just be a leaking pan gasket thats easy to get to.
Can it be the axels?
I have one question Scotty if the clunk comes from the rear and you have a front-wheel drive vehicle what could it be then 🤔
To be honest I am not sure how will the clunk really sound like?
Dodge caravan 2001 it clunks when I go over bumps or if you turn the steering wheel back and forth fast
I never knew that was why an old car was called a clunker. Nice.
I replaced the trani mount now going after the motor mounts."rattle at idle...
One thing after another
Did it resolve?
the muffler was riding on the support for the lower strut.
If you ever start to feel a vibration that goes away when you apply the brakes, you are about to lose a wheel! This has happened to me three times! and the wheels were put on by three different shops. The first time that happened I lost the wheel, the other two times, I didn't.
I know one thing ain’t clunking, that Toyota in the back
Thanks dad
I thought the mechanics messed up my shift linkage when they re did it. Turns out the noise was my cv axle
What if it clunks when you press the gas pedal only while in drive not idling, but comes from the back and isn’t the engine knocking or the driveshaft/center support
I thoughtvthe same thing but ended up being my rear uper control arms
There are no bad joints, only bad weed. 😂
😂😂😂
Can you do a video on water alternatives with water tec besides gas ?
I got a very annoying noise that is similar to a clunk but I think it might be coming from the timing chain tensioner. Any opinions on this 2009 honda pilot ex
Mine vibrates in the cv shaft area. Front wheel drive Audi a4.
CV joint on front wheel drive cars only? I’m scowling in aircooled beetle.
Radio tells you an F5 tornado has touched down on the stretch of highway your heading toward?
Does the same go for a shutter when moving forward from a stop???
What’s the clunk noise when I press the clutch and when changing gears, is it drive shaft?
Greatest mechanic ever, I bet this guy is never out of work.
Got a 94 f250 just had the transmission rebuilt and I put it back in myself now sometimes when I let off the gas it clunks like he's talking about and it hits hard lol
Yikes, pull that trans and take it back to whoever did the rebuild
Or in my case the other day rear caliper bracket bolts came loose
I purchased a 2012 Chevy Silverado with 150K miles. I notice there is an occasional thump feeling from trying to accelerate after being off the pedal and coasting with the vehicle in motion. I also noticed the thump when shifting into reverse, (not all the time & just after slowly moving forward, in a parking lot) from a dead stop. Any idea of what is going on? Should I be concerned?
I have some milk and cookies for you. Or if your prefer, a Case of Heineken.
Research AFM, apologies in advance. Also have your engine mounts checked, they are fluid filled mounts in those GMs if iirc.
What is it when you hear a loud noise like the front passenger tire is rubbing against the car when you turn right? It's not the tire or alignment coz replaced the tires with brand new ones and had the alignment and still makes the noise.
Dont forget about GMs AFM system...
Damn manual 3rd gen Tacomas always clunk.
what if i have a clicking noise in a 2020 Aviator when i take off and slow down?
More than likely axle
If you hear this: “hey, my shirt is stuck in your door!!” Stop the car immediately
You need to get recordings of actual vehicles with this problem
I hear a whining, high pitch scream and cluck when driving. No noise when I stop.
Or it's a bad wheel bearing lmfaoooo
I got all the above just from changing my drivers cv axel😢
Hey Scotty,
Thank you all the advice.
I have a 2005 toyota avensis, I was away for a year, so the car just sat, last week I started driving again and within a few days the battery died, I found out it was the altenator, I changed it and all is good, but for some reason there is a white powder substance all over my engine and also on the new altonator, do you have any idea what could be causing this.?
does it look corrosion ?
Aluminum Oxide sounds like. But where from is the question.
@@johnchandler1687 you'll have to look around best bet is to clean the whole engine bay with a solvent based engine cleaner
@@justindaniels17 Only on a cold engine. Saw one go up in flames when a guy sprayed diesel on a hot motor to clean the dirt & grease buildup off.
Everytime you hear a noise stop driving and pray lol squeaky brakes? Stop driving
What is the cause when you experience a clunk from starting out into merge lane on highway?
Kluncker : time to ring that bell 🔔 and request the car be squashed.
Squash the car squash the car yay!!!
I had this happen before...
...turns out I left a can of tire shine underneath my seat and it made clunking then I turn
I've never had a car thar didn't clunk, one area or another! Fords, they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'
POLYURETHANE BUSHINGZ FOR ME SCOTTY....RIGHT AROUND❗️😉👍🏾
Scotty, just as a gag, could you mix red food coloring in some Karo syrup and put it under yer son's car........or dump some really exotic looking parts under there. How 'bout taping a harmonica under the front end to make a nice sound when going fast enough.......just for fun......
When my car is driving slow it makes a crackling, like it’s pebbles falling out or something by my tires. Does anybody know what that is?
My moms car had a rythmitic clunking when decelerating on her 2013 infiniti Jx35. The ring gear was obliterated in the transfer case.
Mine clunks only on acceleration and only when the engine is cold.
I remember my trans breaking on 2 vehicles 😭 wasn’t fun
Guys I have a question , I'm currently majoring in automotive technology but should I pursue a diploma or degree? I need opinions
