The hate has been definitely somewhat obvious. But these nods I’ve seen hold up with some of the most popular ones. Against my L3’s the held there own in certain conditions. Keep up good work brother. Your channel will build up!
Obviously tubes 2-3x the cost will perform better. But shit... 4k for the same capability definitely has people defending their investment. Even seen a bit of gatekeeping going around. Everyone just needs to get along. Same team
Nice to see someone else from Iowa doing some NVG stuff. I've been trying to decide if I should grab these or another Gen 3 PVS-14 for 3k. Or skipping that altogether and get one the Infraray thermal ECOTI knockoffs.
@iowaguy215 funny enought just got it about 30 mins ago its my first time ever using nvgs but from what I've seen with a lot of research these are very cool I picked up the UI instantly I think personally these are amazing devices obviously not top of the line but very good quality
Really torn, I would love to get the Jerry-31 and get their C5 clip on for them as well. Shockingly enough that would get me duals and thermal integration for about $8,000. But at the same time some videos and reviews I'm seeing really seem to drive home the fact Gen2+ really under-performs in low light conditions and lacks the clarity you get with even low FOM Generation 3 tubes. The cheapest Gen 3 binos seem to be around $7,000 - $8,000, I'm hoping with doing some more homework I can determine whether or not the Gen 2 will be sufficient or maybe I should worry about thermal overlaying later and just focus on sinking my money into good , modern tubes.
I feel your pain!… I could have waited and got a (better set of duels),… for an additional 3k they would’ve been heavier larger, but like you said, even at 7K the specs are not going to be great good spec duels I think start about 9. That’s too much for the wallet to handle. My personal opinion is an extreme low light we all use ir lights anyway so I’ll save the 5k and get a couple rifles set up for nods and a suppressor…or save a little and get the c5 and be that much more capable…also I’m out every night now… not 2 years from now,.. due to my own budget constraints.
4k nods +3k clip on is wayyyyyyy more useful than 7k nods. Nods is mainly for orientation and walking, if you cannot see a hidden threat, you just can’t, even in broad day light. On the other hand, thermal can detect heat sources and hiding coyote thru tall grass.
Debating on selling my gen 3 white phosphorus pvs 14 and adding a bit and getting these. Just to have binos with caddy functionality at this price point.....I'm gonna wait just a little longer to hear more end user reviews
Someone told me if you buy it through Steele industries their warranty covers the J-31’s as well and I heard it’s 10 years which is crazy. I see you have the Steele patch so just wondering if that’s true.
@@IowaNVGuy yea if they offer the same warranty with J-31s thats a big game changer because I don’t want to have to deal with a Chinese company like Infiray directly if something goes wrong. I’ll definitely be curious if they have the same warranty so keep us posted.
I'm still trying to figure if I want a set of these or a high spec 14 I have a few 7's and 14's all gp though I keep seeing these and it's hard to pass for the price compared to a single high spec tube
Well nearly all the video I’ve posted of the tubes so far has been in extreme low light.. a little noisy but very usable still.. the moon has been out lately I might get some more footage up… 25-30 percent moon.
I have no experience with night vision but I've heard some say that, for $4k, it's better to get a gen3 monocular rather than a gen2+ binocular like the jerry-31? That seems way wrong to me since I can't imagine how the extra clarity could outweigh having depth perception; you can't run or drive without depth perception.
A lot of people chase specs, and FOM. Realistically anyone without real time behind NVGS would never even be able to even tell the difference. I have already shown the Jerry 31s to multiple people that I’ve never used night vision, and they are blown away! I’ve used high-end GEN3 units and for what I need, I’d rather have the dual tubes.
Appreciate the videos brother. Definitely looks hard to beat for the price

Yes, with NVT-5 tubes definitely. But NVT-4 is outdated since 2002.

Just rcvd mine this past Friday. This is a great unit. Works great with ir illum and ir laser.
For what it is,… its pretty impressive. It hasn’t let me down yet.

I’m going to have to check with them… I got my pvs14 through Steele … and the J31s also… they did come with the same warranty card🤔

I asked before I ordered mine and they said yes.

10yr warranty through Steele
It is true. I emailed them about this last week and they confirmed their warranty policy applies to these units as well

Tough choice…. I think you’d be happy either way.. flip a coin leave it up to FATE!
to be honest - i have high spec 14’s and now? I feel like i selling 14 and getting jerrys..
Umm nice

So where's the footage sir?
Check my channel.. lots of shorts and other footage of the jerry31 … getting more cameras and editing software.. then I will do a proper review.
