    Respect to his Mum and Dad for remortgaging their home to make his dream come true. I wonder if they ever knew how long his songs would carry on making people dance and smile. Saw him at Farmer Phil's Festival this year....mad ( in a good way).

    Gosh - I just watched this - I was in the audience - fantastic day in Aylesbury - brought back many memories. I remember as a teenager I went backstage to meet him after seeing play with Wild Willy Barrett at the Hemel Hempstead Pavilion - he was really sweet but I was a little dumbstruck (I was about 17) and didn't know what to say. Saw him so many times locally at the time. He ended up living round the corner from me in Wandsworth back in the 80's and we used to talk to him in the pub.

      Hobble on the cobbles - it was a brilliant day!! I'm from Aylesbury, seen him several times at Friars. He even supported Paul Weller at the last gig at the civic center!! Always entertaining, we need a statue of Otway in the town centre.....

    the greatest rock n roll failure ever

      He's certainly a great entertainer. I loved seeing him in the young ones, performing Body Talk. Been obsessed with that song for 40 years since I was a small child. Yes I watched the young ones when I was 6

    John Otway graced us in Canada a few 6-7 ? years ago at a little bar in Hamilton Ontario bringing his vacationing touring fans with him ... What a fantastic show . For me he was like an Ian Dury Alex Harvey hugeness , can’t say enough how incredible they were A Massive 10/10

    His enthusiasm knows no bounds, a genuine star who knows he's not great but doesn't care because he enjoys himself which is what matters. He's not in it for money or fame, just for fun and making people smile which he does in spades.

    Thank you so much for putting this up. John himself gave me a copy on VHS many years ago, and I lent it to someone who accidentally recorded over it! So pleased to see it again. Otway & Barrett are still touring and they really are a MUST SEE!

      I have only just discovered them by chance. I was watching some gigs from a club in NYC called Max's kansas city. And john was on one of them with a band. And they were on fire. Who ever he had with him they were great. Drummer was fantastic and the second guitar. And john was amazing. So good. Cant remember the bass player but they were a tight band.

    • @mikaellarsson7932
      @mikaellarsson7932 Před 6 lety +1

      it exists, most of the Aylesbury concert was captured live and it was shown on Swedish TV. It is in their archives, but it is not public.

    • @mikaellarsson7932
      @mikaellarsson7932 Před 6 lety +5

      in their archives there is also an audio recording of about one hour from the radio show Tonkraft. I attended this gig at the radio studios in Stockholm and it was hilarious, no one expected the fans to show up. John got mental at some point, getting under a large 20 meter carpet, with his guitar! It was a blast, such a *cking happening. I think both John and us got kind of kicked out of there, great times.
