  • The Atlanta Falcons shocked the world and their starting QB Kirk Cousins by drafting Michael Penix Jr. 8th overall. Colin Cowherd says it’s better to be QB-heavy than QB-light, and believes that J.J. McCarthy will be a perfect fit for the Minnesota Vikings, and Drake Maye will struggle with the New England Patriots.

Second, absent a Cousins injury, Pennix will be 27-28 BEFORE he sees the field....and Pennix has an injury history. Third, the Rogers/Love situation is instructive, but not for the reasons Colin thinks. The Packers kept pissing away SUPER BOWL chances when they had a HOF/MVP type QB. It is criminal Rodgers has only been to one Super Bowl. But, that's what happens when they only use 2 out of 14 first round picks on offense (2 tackles)...and only one pans out (Bulaga). When you have a good-great QB you give him all the weapons and protections you can. Finally, the OWNER is turning 82 this season....does he want some happiness and glory of a Super Bowl before he dies? Or does he just want his team to have a CHANCE to be good when he's dead?
