Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life. - Jak na to + styl
Manes by Mell made a really good video on different diffusing techniques for different results: definition, volume and elongation. Brad only really showed one here. From what she has said, blowing upward CAN work but only when done strategically: a gel cast has to have formed over the curls so they don’t frizz, and you have to cup the curls very carefully. Her videos on curls are really useful, would love to see a collab
She should do a review of this video from the point of view of someone who specializes in curly hair. Up until very recently cosmetology schools focused primarily on styling hair from a straight texture rather than curly.
@@aniE1869 that’s a great idea!
Yes
Yeah it bothered me when he rating a curly girls hair down for brushing wet on his last video. Curly/kinky hair is supposed to be detangled when wet or soaked with product.
Yes, Mell is the best
Manes by Mell has demonstrated how to blow dry upwards. Shes a curly girl and a curly/textured hair specialist. And I'd like to add that curly hair does NOT dry fast. If i air dry, it takes HOURS to dry. It takes 30 minutes with the diffuser and i have shoulder length hair.
Maybe it’s like that for you but generally the averages curls dry quiet fast
I’ve never met anyone with curly hair who’s hair dries fast. Mine takes forever to air dry.
I agree completely it takes hours to dry always and I love manesbymel, she's so sweet
@@my3moodsinmyprofilpicture374 Tell that to my wavy/curly hair. 5H air drying and then I can get away with diffusing it for 5 minutes, when it's virtually dry by then. LOL.
@@amixeblu yes and that happends because our hair is so dry. So it holds on to that little moisturizer it gets.
brad: "curly girls your hair is dry so itll already dry really fast"
me: *laughs in low porosity, high density, thick hair*
In winter, it can take more than a day to air dry...
Shaving my head was such an eye opener to how fast hair COULD dry.
@@amandariviera I always had a buzz cut or a really short hair, and when I started growing out my hair it was a shock how long it takes to dry xd
Same man and I got an undercut to help with the thickness of my hair and it’s still so so thick
@@amandariviera omg mine to and mine don’t even look thick and I have wavy hair
@@Scipio0404 it’s horrendous hours and hours I went to bed once got up and it was still wet I’m like omg takes ages to blow try to that’s why the dyson hairdryer is better because drops ur arms aching because it’s so damn light
Honestly, Brad lost me when he said diffusing downward creates frizz. Using the hands while diffusing creates frizz, not the direction of the diffuser. Using a bit of gel would solve the frizz issue, as long as you don't touch the hair while drying, and break the gel cast once you are done.
I really would love to see Brad doing a collab with curly hair CZcamsrs. This a whole new world.
Yes. We really need it because every curl and wave are different 🙂
Idk I think it depends. I tried this technique and have 3c to 4a hair and it turned out less frizzy. 🤷🏽♀️
It's been suggested before; I honestly think we're gonna have to spam all of his videos about curly hair to get it to happen
Off topic, but kind of on topic: *We NEED Brad to get a Manny Quinn with any sort of type 4 hair and try to style it!* That would be such great video, and a perfect way to test out all of the skills he has learned from reacting to curly/coily har care videos on his channel. Maybe a little twist out action, or a wash n' go, or maybe even try to do some knotless briaids? I don't anticipate him blowing us away, but Brad is always so respectful and humble so I just know it'll be a good video regardless of the actual outcome of the hair.
And also one with type 3b or c hair
Gurl he said he doesn’t know how to work with black hair. He works with white hair 👩🦳
That would be an absolute disaster, this man shouldn’t be allowed within 10 ft of curly hair
@@Iv3y_Lamar he works with straight hair, not necessarily white hair
I've seen him react to those curly hair videos and say there taking care of it wrong 💀
This diffusing technique changed my life! I used to have such flat roots and didn’t know how to lift them without overworking the hair and causing crazy frizz. Thanks Brad!
"curly girls your hair is dry so itll already dry really fast" what world is brad living in. even with a diffuser on high. my hair takes 30 mins diffusing plus an extra hour at Least to get totally dry LMAOO
Amen!!!
I second this, I don't even have long hair and it takes SO LONG TO DRY even with a hairdryer!
I was thinking the same thing. If I air dry it take the entire day
in a world where ppl dont know about hair care and dont use hydrating and oily products... i guess thats still a lot of ppl
Yesss. If I air dry my hair it takes over 8 hours. I never blow dried because it took foreverrrr until I got my Dyson and now it takes like 30 minutes and my hair is shoulder length!!
I have to say this technique worked really well on my wavy hair! I'd been doing it the "wrong" way for the last 2 years. No wonder my hair was not consistent in waviness. I agree with some of the comments that this isn't for everyone. I watch a variety of videos pertaining to wavy hair and take from each what works for me. Some influencers insist their way is the only way that works and that's bullshit. If it works for them awesome and if it works for other people, that's awesome too. But to insist their way is the only way is very narrowminded....
Try this technique
I dont trust Brad with curls he is speeking a lot of bs.
czcams.com/video/4nk5p4OWIIs/video.html
Hmmm I think it really depends on your hair. I don’t have time so I use high heat high speed & don’t really have frizzy hair because of the cast from products. And if you’re gentle when drying upwards, it’s a great way to get the volume you may want instead of definition because curly girls may want different things!
My hair lived through the 80's 😂 it has learned how to deal with me doing everything wrong and it turning out good.. 😂
Can we just admit Brad knows NOTHING about curly hair? All his curly hair videos annoy me. 90% of what he says is WRONG
@@wendylinder4747 Yeah, I often still wonder how that happens. LOL!
@@desiraetira1980 Totally agree with you on this one, unfortunately.
I coil my hair right into the diffuser. It works really well actually. I will say that I do get some frizz, but after a couple of hours it’s gone. I tried your technique this morning and I do think it eliminated the frizz, but it took FOREVER!!! If I don’t have anywhere to be for a awhile I’m sticking with my technique- but if I am headed out soon I’m going to use your technique since I wouldn’t have time to wait for my hair to de-frizz.
This is the best curly product I have used. I thought my curls were to damaged to come back to life, but this product revitalized them. Thank you. Love both the products in this video
I wonder if he'd ever make unscented products? Every thing he listed for the scents, I'm allergic to. I'd really like to try his products. Great video :)
If you are looking for curly hair products Jessicul has an unscented line. They work really well.
Xmondo Unscented sounds like a great product name *cough* *cough*, a whole new like of everything but it's unscented so it wouldn't be xmondo wave tech unscented 👍 I'd definitely try jt
Curlsmith created an unscented line and I like it!!!!!
I'm literally in love with you! I've been experimenting with diffuser & this could not have come at a more perfect time!
Brad : "this is the number one waving product in the world"
Me : "yes could you ship it to us, the rest of the world ?"
😂
This. I've been commenting on every video where her plugs his colour that he needs to bring it to Australia
Brad: No.
My thoughts exactly
Yes, he imports it from France, but he doesn't ship to France?!? So weird... Only to England? Why not the rest of Europe? :(
Started wearing my natural hair recently and literally just bought myself a blow dryer and matching diffuser specifically for curly wavy hair for the first time to try. I refuse to use it till Christmas but this is super handy. Thank you!
If your new to your curly hair journey, I recommend watching manes by mell’s videos, she elaborates on more techniques for drying curly hair and styling products
It’s funny because as someone with curly hair a lot of these techniques I learned instinctively through trial and error. But some people, my mom for example, really need videos like this. Even though we have the same hair she’s never learned how to manage her curls
Omg I NEEDED THIS SOOOO BAD!
Thank u Brad, you're the best ❤️
Something about hearing " hey beautiful" just makes me smile. 😊😊
I can not wait to try this technique. To me, it makes more sense to dry my curly hair the way you demonstrated. No wonder why I am never satisfied with diffusing my hair. Thank you so much. 😁
I have straight hair and using a bit of wave tech without even any styling has been amazing. The only downside is I think I might be slightly allergic to one of the ingredients because my skin gets incredibly itchy. :( So, back to square one on finding a good product for me. But I still highly highly recommend this product to anyone else!
Not saying that it is this ingredients but it might be the Bergamont that’s in that product
@@jeffdiggs7030 is that a common allergen?
@@TawnyEnglish yes and no, it could just be the fragrance you're sensitive to. it could be anything but im personally extra sensitive to certain fragrances!
I use briogeo and despite it being everything free, I still can get sores on my scalp. So I don't touch my scalp with it and wash my scalp with another shampoo. I'm super sensitive to any fragrance
My scalp gets soooo itchy and and greasy it’s embarrassing and I don’t even use that much
The timing is perfect for this video... I just got a diffuser for myself to try and tame my curly hair!
I think the hair world needs to realize that curly hair is not all the same. I'm so tired of curly hair advice that doesn't apply to all curly hair.
Brad needs to realize this especially.
Same with straight, fine hair... I have a very oily scalp and have been told that I just need to train my hair... That hasn't worked in four years... I'm sticking to washing it daily.
Right? Like he keeps showing waves at best (if you can even call these waves, this is more messy straight hair)...style some 3 and 4 curlies and maybe I'll watch all the way through.
Yes! Thank you!
@@megankennett9169 I mean it still is waves. Mel even did a video with someone who has wavy hair and how they diffuse it and it looked very similar to this. Yet she still called it wavy? So yes, these are still waves....waves come in different lengths, tightness, direction, etc. Tis not a 1 size fits all.
Brad, just tried all this tricks on my hair today and let me just say....GAME. CHANGER! I concluded months ago that even Wave Tech did not give any curl to my straight hair. Low and behold I was not using enough, even though I felt weird on my hair initially. Thanks for the video, always love your tips!!!
This video could not have come at much much perfect time. Yesterday I started to diffuse my curly hair and it was all frizzy. This will definitely help me.
3 Tbsp of epsom salt dissolved in distilled water is also a great wave spray and won't dry out your hair like regular salt. Better yet, dissolve it in aloe vera juice or rose water and you'll have an awesome leave-in conditioner.
Good idea! I've been cheap and always just add distilled water to the last bit of leave-in conditioner and use that as a spray for between wash day... ahum... days.
does it have to be distilled water, will regular filtered water not work?
I absolutely love this video thank you so much Brad for all these tips. I rarely ever blow dry my hair or use my diffuser anymore, but through trial and error when I do use my diffuser I can confirm that all of these tips, are helpful and do work!
Also can confirm I have made some of the mistakes mentioned as I didn’t really know what I was doing at the time and realized that it made my hair look like shit so let me be the first to tell you that Brad is right and follow these steps for sure because I can tell when I do it just like this and follow it correctly like Brad explained - the hair does look way nicer and wayyy way less frizz versus when I have made those mistakes it doesn’t look as nice or neat- like a messy bed head wave - and that just ain’t the look. 😳😅😌
Great insight Brad 💟‼️
Perfect timing for this video - I got a hair dryer for Christmas after always air drying. Now I know how to use the diffuser!
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. My attempts to diffuse haven’t worked out so well so I’m going to try again with these tips.
As a wavy, my ends are dry and my roots to mids are oily. Air drying takes at least an hour, and I have a lot of very fine hair. I've found over the years that I can get more curl out of my hair than my stylists.
I have wavy hair as well (thick/frizzy/kinda course) & I used to have this issue as well, my ends used to split around mid/longish length. Nowww, my hair is finally long!!!
I took Brad’s shampoo techniques (he has a video on this) & I swear, it changed my hair forever! Lol I’ve been shampooing how he says for many many months now. I brush my hair in the shower to spread the shampoo when rinsing (his video doesn’t say this, this is just my technique lol). His video says to only put shampoo on the scalp. Scrub side to side (NOT in a circle motion). Then while rinsing, spread the shampoo towards the ends.
Shampoo & scrub on ur scalp and not on ur mid to ends will help ur hair not get stripped of the oils it needs. On the days when u don’t wash ur hair, brush your hair from scalp to ends to spread out the oils.
This really changed my hair health. I am so glad something finally worked for my wavy/frizzy/course hair… to have less breakage overall, healthier/better looking hair that can finally grow long, I had to share with you!! I hope this helps 🙂🙂😊😊💖
How about a video on using diffusers on people with truly curly hair? I suspect most regular diffuser users tend to have curly hair, rather than wavy. So many hair styling videos are very straight-hair-centric.
In what world is wavy hair straight?
Yes like a course, thick, curly, frizz prone model would make this video much better
Then go watch videos with curly haired people there are lots of them. And I wouldn't be so sure about your suspicions. Wavy hair is incredibly hard to style, and diffusing helps a lot. If you do one slight thing wrong on wavy hair, you kill the wave completely. Waves are temperamental I find. I'd much rather have curly hair.
@@CallMeGameGirl 😂 come get you some curly hair then. We can switch. No take backs tho 🙅🏽♀️. If you think waves are temperamental, you gonna love these curls
Right??? I guarantee none of his advice would actually work on curly hair...like every stylist I have been to makes my hair look like ramen noodles because they don't know how to do it
Follow up: I’ve been using your tips for a month. Three strangers told me my hair looks beautiful! I’m shook rn. The lifting the top from root w finger technique is so freaking pro. I flipped my head upside down my whole life and had no idea it was wrong. I can’t believe the difference! I have actual curls around my face now coming at it from the side and not up.
This video changed my hair life forever. ❤
Besides really knowing your stuff, you make me smile and that's a good thing especially in this day and age. Thank you for that and for all of your tips for curly hair. 👍🤗
This video couldn’t have come at a better time!! I literally bought a diffuser yesterday
Love the new video brad!✨💗🥰 thanks for the tips!

Honestly I have 3a hair and 95% of what he says is the exact opposite of what every curly hair expert has ever said...it takes a lot of trial and error but just do what works for your hair whether it's "right" or "wrong"
@@user-zh2cx9vv2s was about to comment about my mane girl mell lol
Before I watch, I just bought one. Was so excited to use it & I 🥴 did not pay attention to a single vid I watched. Just fast forwarded to see the results. Bc u know? It's the internet. Instant gratification. I really thought it was self explanatory but I guess it really is in the technique. Prob finding what's more suitable to ur hair texture. For ppl who lack patience& not even know what they're doing 🙋🏻♀️, I was like wth. I was better off just spraying junk in my hair & just manually scrunching. Now my hair feels sticky, crunchy, nappy & it's like thicc, lol. Idk I don't actually want That much volume.
I seriously love wave tech. It's the perfect product for light waves like I have and it literally comes out perfectly. As you said mousses and creams weigh my hair down. And it's literally perfect for me
I bought the "hydrate my hair" bundle and absolutely love it. My hair feels so soft and un damaged
As a natural wavy girl, if I touched my hair as much as he is touching Ms. Mannie Quinn while diffusing, I’d be a frizz ball from hell. I appreciate your attempt. Please do a review of some curly hair specialists… such as Manes by Mell, Swavy Curly Courtney, Gena Marie, etc.
I SO NEEDED THIS VIDEO!! THANKS BRAD!!!!
MY LIFE IS CHANGED!!!, MY CURLS HAVE NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD!!! THANK YOUUUU!!!!
Holy beautiful defuse!!! I have been on the fence about buying your products for months now. I am so glad that you showed that and that I actually came across it by accident. Now I know why my hair gets so frizzy. I tip my whole head upside down and do it. So with that being said, I am headed to your product merch page. Going to buy your shampoo conditioner and foam and possibly the sea salt. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video! I had no clue what I was doing with my diffuser was defiantly doing it wrong lol 😂 so I really appreciate this! 🤩 can’t wait to try this next time I do my hair
i have mostly straight hair, but when i do that scrunching it gets like those beach waves which i love, but trying these methods is going to be so fun 😍
Thank you so much!! I just two days ago cut my waist length hair into a collar bone length shag and everything is Mars.
This is maybe the most informative video yet - I have big, loose curls, and I have never been able to get my diffuser to bring out the best in them (because I was doing it wrong, duh!!). Thank you, star! 🌟 (Also going to get a hold of that Wavetech!)
Me coincidentally waiting for my hair to process and watching Brad makes me feel like the Hair Gods blessed me!
I just bought my first diffuser for my daughters hair two days ago!! Thank you
So glad I stumbled onto your video. I have wavy and fine hair and diffusing it WAS making it frizzy. Now I understand why. Great video💜
What perfect timing for this video, I’m looking for a diffuser now because I’m starting to love my curly hair for the first time in 26years. Hard to make it look good
I have always diffused up without any frizz but I don’t dry it completely dry. I leave it just a tad bit dry and I end up with beautiful curls.
Literally have been going back and forth on whether I wanted to try a diffuser for my waves and this just convinced me to buy one 😂 thanks Brad!
Wow. I'm blown away. I never thought that would work. You truly are an artist.
You don't understand how bad I needed this video!!! I own many xmondo products and I use salty after I curl my hair and it makes it so beachy. I just didn't know that I was using my diffuser all wrong. So excited to try this!!!!
Opened an early Xmas present earlier today and it was a new hair dryer with a diffuser lol don’t worry Brad, only used it wrong once!
THANK YOU! I’ve had curly my whole life and use a diffuser but hated how it always made my hair so frizzy and if I let it air dry the curls would drop and still go frizzy. I just tried this method today and my hair looks amazing !! I feel so stupid I’ve never properly known how to use a diffuser 😂
Don't bother with following the techniques in this video, check out manes by Mel diffusing video instead
I had no idea I was using the diffuser wrong until now either. My hair is pretty curly naturally and I usually just air dry it but it's good to know for winter when I occasionally want to just speed up the drying time.
I learn so much from you. Thank you for your tips truly the best Brad ❤️
Can't wait to try this tomorrow because this is instinctively what I want to do but have been told by everyone else to microplop and load up with leave in and mousse and gel and God knows what else, and then not to wash my hair too often and it feels gross and curls aren't consistent or even nice. Thanks Brad.
Brad: Do. Not. Blow. Upwards
Me: 😬 in my defense, I'm the only one with curly hair in my family that let's their hair curl. I've never had anyone to teach me about curly hair care 😭
Same here lol I have made all the mistakes
Blowing upwards is okay Brad is being dramatic. It helps a lot with volume, and all depends on what your goal is with your curls. As long as you are gentle there are so many more ways to diffuse your hair that give so many different results. As a curly girl I experiment all the time with new methods I come up with for fun and get great results. Frizz will mostly happen if there isn’t enough product in your hair to start and it isn’t moisturized.
Yes ikr my parents were not accepting me at first
He’s wrong so do what you want.
Check out manes by Mel and swavycurlyCourtney!
Honestly as a natural wavy, I feel like this tutorial is more aimed at straight haired folks who want to create waves and not so much at wavies who want more defined waves. Also... curls are not the same as waves. If it doesn't curl from the root, it's wavy. Overtyping is a huge problem in the hair care community, especially with the prevalence of CGM despite it not being a good routine for most people and certainly not for wavies.
I used to have super curly hair but it didn't always necessarily 'curl from the root'. A curl is a type of spiral. Wave is just a zigzag. But I had long thick very curly hair so the weight can pull down from the root making it less curly at the root sometimes. Just because it doesn't appear curly out of the head doesn't necessarily mean it isn't curly hair though.
@@cicilg Yes it does
@xMJJMoonwalker Replacing a White American standard with a Black American standard isn't an improvement.
The original curl typing system labelled all Afro hair as type 4, while 3A & 3B hair were non-kinky loose curly hair types. The expansion has actually been in the other direction, which is understandable but not really 'better'.
Just got my hair permed (3 days ago) and washed it for the first time today, got a hair dryer with a diffuser (never had to use one before) and immediately went to Brad's channel to know how to use one. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My hair is naturally curly, and I cannot live without my diffuser, and I use a Denman brush and a really good gel. If I do to much scrunching I’ll be one big frizz head. I do not fuzz with my hair to much with running my hands and fingers throughout my hair as well. I flip my head upside down and diffuse it.
Thank you for this!! My hair is super wavy/kinky on just the underneath area and on top it’s straight! It’s such a pain. I’m excited to try your wave tech!
O m g I just learned that I have been using my diffuser all wrong all these years!! I love this video. I have 3C curly hair and I normally just let it air-dry because it gets so frizzy when I blow dry or diffuse it. Thank you Brad!!
Watch manes by mell. Brad has no clue what he’s talking about. Mell has curly hair and is a curly hair specialist stylist. She has multiple videos on how to diffuse (as well as style).
I mean..okay, doing it upwards with the warmest setting might make my hair more frizzy but for someone who has a few and thin hair it also adds volume, what i love. Or what should i do to avoid the flat look? Also, why is my hair curly but straight only at the back of my head? 😭
The back of my head is straight too!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. My curls are so uneven.

i dont watch a ton of youtube but your videos always pull me in!! thanks so much for this!
Hey, could you please considering making fragrance free versions of some of your products? I have wavy to curly hair, and since figuring out that I'm sensitive to fragrance, I have noticed that there are very few products out there that are truly fragrance free, and even fewer developed for different hair types. I even went looking in a Sally's, and the person working there literally had no clue what I meant by fragrance free. She picked up a bottle and was like, "This one doesn't have a very strong scent." And I was like, 🤔 "Okay, but that's not going stop it from irritating my scalp to where I want to rip my hair out" 👀 I also got my hair cut, and the salon had exactly 0 products that were safe to use on my hair. I'm in a Facebook support group with almost 800 members, helping each other figure out which brands are actually safe, and which brands are just arbitrarily slapping "free & clear" on their packaging just to make money. I can count on one hand how many fragrance free hair care products are available. It would just be nice to have more options.
Wavy girls unite 💖💖💖
Omg I was about to comment on a new video to ask about the diffuser on the laifen, and you already did this! Now I can use my christmas present!!! Thank you, Brad!!!
