I don't think the studio can do any better than this. That gating going on in the rhythm during the middle of the song was super tight, to the point that it can't be any tighter. I think we're witnessing the climax of this genre. Either it will evolve into something else or begin to wither. Time will tell.

It was just as tight almost 15 years ago when Meshuggah re-released the Nothing album. Tons of bands in this field use software to make the timings perfect. Measuring how far a genre has gone judging by how tight the songs sound is worthless
I can definitely enjoy a clean, crisp mix. But if the sound gets too clean, it easily becomes lifeless. Give me some dirty, grimy, disgusting grooves any day. That's why I appreciate the live albums and The Violent Sleep of Reason by Meshuggah, both of which are played live with incredible skill, with few edits.

This solo feels like someone reveals to you a truth that is so undeniably beautiful, yet horrifying and unbeleaveable that nobody would ever believe you, they would have to experimence it themselves.
