Picked up someone else’s destroyer grey 2021 Durango tow-n-go back in September, even had the guys name on the window sticker. Black top, red SRT calipers and second row full console. They said it wasn’t even on the lot for a full 24 hrs when I took it. His loss my gain! I just couldn’t see forking out another $12k for an SRT…. Better yet, dealers were asking for $15-$20k more because of the lack of availability. Oh well, I’m totally satisfied!
Has it been reliable? Excessive tire wear? brakes holding up? Thanks!
As always great video Ben but one thing you forgot to mention. The tow n go has a top speed of 145 MPH where as the RT is 118 mph. Dodge tuned the tow n go different from the RT to set them apart.
all good and all but when would anyone need to go either speed... these aren't track vehicles and most people don't use them for that either..

It sounds inconsistent because the durango rt weighs over 5300 lbs and the tow and go has the same power rating as the regular rt at 360 ho and 390 tq. This tells me that the regular durango rt probably had a speed limiter to 118 mph and they just removed it for the tow and go to the point where it will go as fast as it can top out (145 mph) while the 392 hemi version tops out at 155 mph. It's the same with the charger rt thats limited to 135 mph but with the speed limiter removed, it can top out over 170 mph while the scatpack can go over 180 mph

I LOVE your title!!! I tell people this ALL the time! I just ordered and took delivery of my 2021 Durango Tow N Go - all it's missing from the SRT model is the 6.4 V8. But this Durango RT with the 5.7 just needs a Whipple supercharger and it'll be better than the stock SRT! I opted for the $395 Red Brake Calipers and mine actually say SRT on them - LOL!
EDIT: 12:00 - the outside appearance sets this one apart from other RT's by the large Brembo brakes, the 4" exhaust tips, and the 20x10 wheels.
11:17 - so much for the very important "Break-in Period!" OUCH! Feel sorry for the person that ends up buying this particular vehicle!
On the Dodge website I built this 2022 with the tow n go package for $59,920, which I showed the dealer but he was pushing a 2023 with everything that I had already chosen for the 22 his price was $64,650. He refused to budge so I walked out.
I had a tow n' go on order and ended up going with the SRT. The extra power for 12K more is worth it to me. Plus.... it's a SRT.
The only difference is that the SRT with the 6.2L engine has 100 HP more than the 6.4L HEMI Tow N Go. Is 100 HP worth $12K more out of your pocket? I personally don't think so.
I fel t the same way. The dealer was pissed when I canceled my t n g order.

Wow this helped me so much, I was between the chevy tahoe rst and the regular durango rt . I didn't know about this option, and yeah that exhaust sound 😱😱😱😱
Same here! What are you going to pick? I’m seriously having trouble deciding between the two. Tahoe seems like the obvious choice for size, but Chevy doesn’t give you the big boy engine on anything outside of the High Country Trim. The Durango is just...so aggressive and sexy sounding.

Interesting overview Ben, we bought a 19 SRT Durango from new and at the time the R/T was just a little too far away from the looks/extra options we wanted ( performance vehicle family )....this is much closer now in the newer models - and it even sounds so more more like the SRT. Big Gap between the R/T, the SRT and the SRT Hellcat Durango ! :) - I like how Dodge do listen !!
Absolutely love my Destroyer Grey 21 RT Rango. Didn’t get a tow n go cause dealers didn’t want to play ball since there were not many in the region when I was looking. No regrets.
Wife and I just got a 2021 in-violet R/T TOW n Go and absolutely love it. I think it's as fun to drive as my 2019 Daytona 392 and looks killer to with the black top package

I just introduced my Hellcat Durango to my channel and I love it. If I didn't have the Hellcat one, I would very much be interested in the RT or SRT model.

I just saw one of these on the street and had to jump on the net to find out what it was. I knew it wasn't a normal R/T. It looked and sounded too aggressive. A little disappointing that there isn't more of a difference in performance (compared to the regular R/T) but still a nice factory upgrade.
I love that these have the chrome deleted interior!

When I'm done with my GT I'm probably doing the R/T with tow and go (or RAM 1500 crew not sure yet). Thank you for actually getting into the 3rd row seats lol.. it's easier to get back there by flipping the lever on side (normal way when having bench versus capt chairs).

@@TheWatcher1182 Well a lot can change in 9 months.. actually got a F150 Tremor end of September. It was a combination of availability and sheer luck with the market the way it is.

@@TheWatcher1182 Thanks, well If you compare it to the Ram Rebel it's slightly cheaper. I reconsidered after learning about the 2021 F150 refresh, then while investigating came across the Tremor and lucked out was able to reserve one. Mid range 401a package with decent options around $60K
Thanks for the review. You mentioned the performance steering and the ride quality with the adaptive dampers, but you didn't comment on the handling. Does it actually carve corners a lot better than an R/T??
I think it does compare to something that is front wheel drive that is nose heavy and sucks on corners I think this would be better cutting corners due to the drivetrain
I bought a red one like this and I love it still may get a delete on it for a louder sound but I love it
I have a 21 RT with TnG and it’s an SRT without the SRT engine....so....not an SRT for $12,000 less.

Except for the extra 115 hp 80 in torque, the paddle shifters, the launch control, the adaptive suspension, captains chairs, the srt modes and page, the 0-60 in 4.4. The 6 piston brembo brakes (edit I forgot the do have the 6 piston) Then yeah
Actually, has identical 6 piston Brembo brakes (in black or same red as SRT), same suspension, SRT modes calibrations (Track, Sport, Tow, Snow) although yes limited in configurability compared to SRT, very similar SRT/ performance pages. The differences are mainly engine, seats, gearing, steering wheel (including paddle shifters) and launch control. That’s really not a huge difference for well over $10,000, but It all depends on your budget and what’s worth it to you.

Loses nearly 2 seconds on the 0-60 compared to SRT but it looks like one.

@@Saxman0155 Relativity. 2 seconds wouldn't be a lot over say... a minute. But in a race that's over in 3.5 seconds, that makes the SRT 75% faster. That may not mean anything to you, but they certainly aren't the same.
@@LordCyler Since I live in the practical world where the vast majority of Durango drivers get into their vehicle and commute to work, go shopping, visit their family and loves......the drag racing advantages the SRT has is utilized at a minimum to a select number of owners.

If you get the V6, with tow n go, tows 6200 lbs, has trailer brk controller and all the coolers.
24 in city, 32 or more on highway, depending on how you drive.

So they increased the towing capacity but not the payload? That’s a dirty trick. If you towed anything close to that max towing capacity, you’d only have enough payload left over for the driver and one passenger, and that’s it. So what’s the logic in increasing towing capacity 1000 lbs above that of the regular old R/T, in a car that has 3 row seating? I guess that demographic of people who want to tow an 8000lb trailer in a car with 2 empty rows of seats? Creepy.
