      The 20s really weren't that wild in terms of clothing. Yes, the hemlines rose, but not even past the knees unless you were a dancer or prostitute. There is a lot of misinformation of what 1920s fashion was.

    The thing with Dior is actually the other way around. After the war the factories that where producing fabrics for the war effort now where facing diminished demand. So Dior as a good business man saw the opportunity to put wearing more fabric into fashion. Did some people see it as wasteful, probably, but it was a great way to save the textile industry
