Chris Stuckmann reviews The Devil's Candy, starring Ethan Embry, Shiri Appleby, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Kiara Glasco. Directed by Sean Byrne. - Zábava
I hope he keeps doing more reviews of these smaller films. These are the types of reviews we need
Thank you for saying that! A lot of people want him to review big films just to hear validation of their own opinion. These reviews helps me discover movies that frequently fly under my radar.
but, are those the reviews we deserve?! i only watch movies based on batman lines~~~
Chris Robinson Definitely!
Chris Robinson agree. I love these small and independent films.
Raw was really damn good tbh ... it's a cannibal drama and a little on the artistic side ... but all in all really good
I like Chris Stuckmann
kl
I like turtles.
Who doesn't?
he is just the best!
Epic Music Movie Stop saying you like everything
It Follows, The Babadook, The Witch... indie horrors are great!!
Yeah, they're the only ones that don't use as many cheap jumpscares as possible and can be pretty damn creepy e.g. The Witch (Creepy as fuck, yet barely any jumpscares, actually, don't think it did) there's very few big budget horrors that achieve being scary and using few cheap jumpscares.
Check out Raw
Paesito Paez also great one :)
Dario Lucić 10 cloverfeild lane is really good, but it's not indie. actually the only indie out of all the ones you mentioned is the babadook, and yeah that one is amazing
+T Pitty Is Raw good then? It looked interesting
this is one of the best horror films i've seen. More people need to see this
mazarik Mahuroof Absolutely agree. It was fantastic.
its not scary tho, one major flaw imo
that guitar at the end was so metal lol.
JD! yo yeah it's definitely not scary, but I found it to be a horror movie in the sense that it made me feel true dread and dispair. Especially in the climax scene thats just so brutal and sad. it made me feel a sense OF horror
+JD! yo I don't think it's really a flaw. There's a nearly constant sense of dread and uneasiness throughout the film and the tension really ratchets up over the last 30 minutes. This could have been what the director was trying to accomplish instead having lots of jump scares and gore during the whole movie.
"I like weird shit"
-Chris Stuckmann 2017
Chris you're not fucked up you're just getting tired of the same old movies that when something creative comes along its intriguing.
This movie was a big surprise. And I love how it's literally very "metal."
I read "devil's candy" and my fat brain thought it would be the review of a new chocolate..
Marcelo Souza when I hear devils candy I wouldn't think of chocolate I think of those super hot Mexican ball candy that you give people as a joke just to see their face
The Devils the new age Willy Wonka...Noooiiiccee!!
So true, so true.
I thought "The Devil's Candy" was referring to drugs because people are addicted to drugs like candy and they have a bad effect on you, hence evil effect, hence candy. Thought the movie was great, but the movie was definitely more disturbing than I thought it would be
You should review The Invitation. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it quite a bit. Such an underrated indie horror film
the last 2 minutes of the film floored me with the helicopters....great suspense.
Erik V One of my favorites
One of my favorites is the Invitation. Excellent film!
Just saw this movie, and after 10 years from Sean Byrne first movie (The Love Ones) we can finally see his new work, and holy fuck it was worth the wait, Perri and Clarke on Collider Nightmares were not lying of how great this movie is, because this is what true horror is about, well developed characters we care about, dreadful atmosphere, haunting mythology (it has somr Lynch inspired characters) and surprisingly, heartful themes about family, it evokes some real human fears and it's fucking brutal the way it does it, and of course, it's metal as hell (awesome soundtrack).
FUCK MAN I'VE HEARD NOTHING OF THIS MOVIE BUT YOUR COMMENT HAS ME FOAMING AT THE FUCKING MOUTH WITH HYPE
Your God Wilfred it has not been 10 yrs since The Loved Ones
I loved this movie. Its a bit intense .
I just realized there are titles to Chris's reviews. I always see it in my notifications. But now I'm looking at it while I'm watching this review. Surreal dude.
please review Train to Busan!!!! it's on Netflix it's one of the best Zombie films I seen please Chris
I second this recommendation.
I third (thirdly?) this recommendation.
Say What Again i Dare you i Double Dare you! i grew up with train to busan
It's not that good. it's really just decent.
I wanna see him reviewing The Man fom Nowhere. One of the best action movie from S.Korea...
Can't wait to see this one. Its so hard to find really good horror and thankfully Get Out and Train to Busan were out of this world. I've seen so many and its so hard to find an amazing and original horror film anymore. Just want to thank you for your reviews, can't remember how I found you but I'm a huge fan and started binge watching from the early to now. I watch the movies I couldn't care less to see bc I just love your personality and honesty...sense of humor is a must as well. Thank you again Chris and please keep it up♡
0:33 holy shit it's Rich from ReviewTechUSA!
Skibidi bap mm da da *BOOM!*
Ugh, hate that guy. Review'Tech'USA - where's the tech, all he does is talk about the youtube drama, no reviews, no tech. His channel is pointless. Especially when he's shady as fuck.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it Chris. I was just at Horrorhound Weekend were Ethan Embry was at doing free signings and promoting this film. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the screening of it there but definitely looking forward to checking it out. It's always hit and miss with these IFC titles but this one looks really good.
my Oscar acceptance speech is going to talk about how this man influenced my way of viewing movies
+LilBiT InSaNe I grew up in the disgusting filthy cesspool of dead memes and retarded like whores, so i have tied my noose
Come on dude can you please realize that one simple comment made you write a bible about how "pretentious" and "individualist" I am just because I called you out for the wrong use of a word? nevermind, I honestly couldn't give any fucks.
John Barry a like for effort.
Aaaand this is why I enjoy your reviews - I almost watched this but, although I'm and Ethan Embry fan, the trailer didn't sell me... But other reviews you've done have made me want to see films I otherwise wouldn't have or make me want to go back and rewatch a film I didn't like so much to give it another chance. So thank you for that! Oh and I very much enjoy the videos you make with John Flickster - great chemistry between you two!
These are some of my favorite reviews. While I love hearing your take on movies that are on cinema, I almost never hear about these smaller or international movies that never make it widespread to theaters. Thanks for sharing what you like with us!
This movie surprised me with how good it was. It hit me hard towards the last act. It was so heart wrenchingly intense. I had to clench my teeth. I felt so bad for that little girl. Her acting was so good that I felt the terror she was feeling.
Not even planning on watching this movie, but I'm watching this review for my man Chris.
Varinder Bhandal If you like The Loves Ones you should see this, it's the same director.
I REPEAT, THE DIRECTOR OF THE LOVED ONES
Get with the program this needs to be seen on that merit alone, and I know literally nothing else about this movie I stopped the video in order to come to the comments to now write to you that you need to see this movie because The Loved Ones is good.
Varinder Bhandal watch bee movie
IT'S
That's fucking stupid.
'Having grown up with the Devil, I was very excited for this movie...'
I always smile to a new Chris Stuckmann video! :)
always look forward to the great movies you review that I've never heard of before. thank you!
"What if something was controlling you and it was making you neglect your family." Those are called bosses.
love this sporadic review! you should do them more often :)
Chris, my husband introduced me to your channel and I have to say, I REALLY love your reviews. Before we watch anything now we say: okay, let's see what Stuckmann said about this. And we agree with your opinion every single time. Thanks for the great work DUUUDE :D
In before "I grew up with this" comments
Luke6 - Let's be honest I was dying for him to say it lol...
Why are people making these so much?
Keenan Hope Because he always say that to some movies he reviews and then it became a meme here in this channel.
True he does say it a lot, but its just become annoyingly common all the sudden with the power rangers review.
Stuckmann must have dressed up as a jedi wizard power ranger
Chris has earned my trust over the years, and we have fairly similar tastes in film. Ergo, The Devil's Candy goes on my imdb watchlist. Look forward to checking it out...you ain't the only one who likes a good dose of twisted cinema, man... :)
Dude you inspire. I haven't seen you this optimistic about a movie in a while
Collider Nightmares have been raving about this for ages. Glad Chris is recommending it too
Thank you Mr. Stuckmann.... something to watch tonight on Amazon!!! 👍🏽
I trust your reviews 9/10 times.
Thank you for reviewing lesser known movies! Great review.
Awesome, I never would have heard of this is if it wasn't for this review. Thanks Chris!
Thanks for bringing this one up, I had totally forgotten about it. Absolutely loved The Loved Ones so can't wait to watch it
It would be cool for Chris to do some more reviews of his favorite movies again. And I would also love to see an in depth review of the shining as well from Chris.
Chris, I love that your taste is getting weirder and darker! It's great! Love your stuff man.
Glad to see Ethan Embry in more roles. Can't hardly wait is still my favorite movies of his.
Chris stuckman. I was wondering if you'd ever do a "my life drawing" just curious to see how you got into CZcams and a bit more about your love for movies. Keep up the great work !
I'm excited to see this!! I have such a hard time finding more creepy movies to watch. Thank you for the review!
Chris what kinda lights did you use to light your blu ray shelf’s. It looks cool. I need some
Definitely gonna check this one out!! As always thanks for the review Chris, you're the best!! 🙌🏽
I rented this literally last night after watching your review and also reading all the good reviews on Amazon Video. Thanks!
Yay I'm so happy to see Pruitt Taylor Vince in more stuff! I totally agree with you that he's an amazing and very underrated actor, I was so excited to see him show up in The Walking Dead but unfortunately they didn't keep him around for very long.
Great review. Also your intro always gives me a shock :p
OMG! Chris! You talked me into it. I'm renting this movie tonight. Cannot wait to see this.
Your reviews helped me discover the awesomeness that was the babadook, so on that similar line, I'll give this one a try to.
dude! more reviews like this!
Wow I haven't been this early to a video ever! But seriously though I think you are a great critic keep up the good work!
I am in the middle of this movie right now. Glad I saw your review. Taylor Pruitt Vince is always good. Chris, if you haven't already, can you watch and review The Devil's Backbone and The Orphanage? 2 of my favorite movies that Guillermo Del Toro was involved in. Especially The Orphanage. I thought it was a beautiful, haunting movie that actually made me cry at the end. Thanks!!
your almost at 1 mill chris!
Hey! The Shining is my favorite horror movie of all time as well.
Great video Chris!
I love Pruitt Taylor Vince, very underrated actor. Angel Heart, Jacob's Ladder, Monster but my favorite film with is still Identity: "Whores Don't Get a Second Chance!" crazy movie. this movie looks pretty cool though, great review Chris.
So good! So metal! Ethan Embry blew me away. Kiara Glasco was fantastic. I hope to see more of her. I’m gonna recommend this to all of my friends.
I want to hang out with chris and talk about movies all day!
Gotta see this later next week.
Nice review Chris!
Thanks for the recommendation, Chris. I'll be sure to check this one out!
please review t2 (trainspotting) have been waiting for ages t to hear your opinion on it
FLINT FILMS has he even reviewed the original?
Didn't grow up with it...
Watched it tonight, it was really good and I came back to watch this review a second time from a different perspective. Would highly recommend this.
Yes Chris!! 100% on point review. Bravo.
Chris, if you read this, as a movie lover and fan of your content please for the sake of movies and entertainment pleeease do not quit doing what you do. You far by far the best critic I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
I actually heard about this film last 2016, but there is no torrent file for it yet and I desperately needed to watch it, but having little doubts at the same time. Thanks, Chris for reassuring that this is a lovely horror film, now I crave for it more lol
Thank you Chris I always take your word when it comes to giving movies a chance
THE LOVED ONES?
SOLD FUCKING SOLD, I NEED TO SEE IT.
Stopped the video, don't need to watch it, only need to watch the movie.
Please do a review on The Invitation! It's another small horror film :) I'm really enjoying these reviews of smaller films.
Review Alien and Aliens before Covenant is released. Keep up the great work, Mr. Stuckmann.
I loved everything about this movie. I wish it was a whole hour longer with more about the man's disorder, his victims, and the paintings. Definitely one of the best horror movies to come out in a long time.
Chris. You are the man. There is infinite number of films that I wish you could review and have surely seen them. BUT I am in dire need of knowing what you think about The Sopranos/The Wire
Please let those be your first TV reviews/analysis's!!!!!!!!
Loving the horror reviews!
Saw this film at a festival last year and it was really good and intense. The ending is great
This movie is amazing!
And all that heavy metal soundtrack... PERFECT!
It's crazy that Ethan Embry was that main dude from Can't Hardly Wait. And now look at him, all grown up and doing good movies, nice! :)
the guy who portrayed Jesse Hellman in this movie, somehow really made me think of a real life version of Edward Kenway, the protagonist in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag
I've always loved Pruitt Taylor Vince, and you're right, he is sorely underutilized. He was even in The Walking Dead and they completed wasted him in that. They offed him before he even had a chance to do anything. This guy seriously needs to be in more stuff...he's really good!
The editing was excellent
Chris, check out 'Prevenge' if it comes around your area. I caught it at Boston Underground Film Festival the other night and thought it was pretty refreshing, in terms of storytelling. Also, it was written by, directed, and stars an incredibly talented woman who was seven months pregnant at the time of shooting.
Never heard of this movie and now I'm very interested... Good Job Chris.
The Loved Ones is one of my fave horror films ever. I'm glad the director's still making films, since he went MIA for a while.
Just saw this on netflix, never would have watched if it weren't for the fact i remembered you enjoyed it quite a bit! Thanks for the recommend!
"Guys, I grew up with painting faces in my underwear because I heard voices in my head." -Chris Stuckman
it seems this year is gonna be good guys. things are starting to look up, with samuri jack and other great things to come
I was raised Roman Catholic, and at age 7, had the distinct experience of having my babysitter tell me all about this novel she was reading. William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist was my introduction to, not just Horror novels, but grown up books as a whole. I can remember her reading passages to me and the visceral terror my young mind endured at the thought of the devil and all his powers being as real as any other subject being taught at the Immaculate Conception School.
In 1973 the book was made into a film and Old Scratch turned into a lucrative brand. He ruled the horror genre and put fannies in seats at the theater. There are few films that create the unease of The Exorcist, but The Devil's Candy manages to pull it off in half the time. Clocking in at just 79 minutes, it is a film that does not waste time, and the eerie, biblically dark sequences are one of its 2 high water marks, the other being the on screen presence of Taylor Pruitt Vince's character.
If you are tired of jump scares, and want more from the dark lord than what is offered on the Netflix series, Lucifer, then this movie should help connect you to the devil you grew up with. The devil the nuns warned you about. The devil you know.
I really hope you will review the cornetto trilogy sometime in the future.
speaking of The Shining as you mentioned in this review you should put a review up for The Shining. It's one of my favorite horror movies and my favorite King novel and I'd like to hear your thoughts on that film.
0:50 dat Sunn O))) shirt
Mundo Polaris if I'm not mistaken didn't they write the soundtrack to this film? I haven't seen it yet but I read that somewhere
I love Ethan Embry because of "That Thing You Do!", so I'll definitely have to watch this. I totally didn't recognize him with the beard!
Now that I've been follow your critics from some moths ago, your rating to this picture seems kind of appealing to have a look at, so looking forward to see it, thank you Chris and please be a humble guy, Not today but always
What do you think about LG and SONY dropping 3D TV ,now that 4K sets can show passive 3D correctly ?
Pruitt Taylor-Vince is a fantastic actor. He won an Emmy for playing a serial killer on season 2 of Murder One (remember that 90s Steven Bochco show) and got to play a good guy on the recent Heroes Reborn. Wish he got more opportunities to play more normal guys, but he always nails it.
That's what I like about you Chris totally at random you'll watch something you like and you'll just do a review cause why not? Really cool and authentic
Chris........review Twin Peaks
Please
Das Kinophile ENTP he grew up with twin peaks
David Uzari, "Yeah. Before I became a movie critic, I wanted to grow up to rape and murder my own daughter. I loved this show as a kid".
Das Kinophile ENTP I really want him to review any of Lynch's work, but Twin Peaks would be a dream.
Mason Duke, Since he loved that "Stay", I bet he'll enjoy Mulholland Drive.
Das Kinophile ENTP I re-watched Eraserhead last night, and it still holds up beautifully.
Please review The Wailing! I really enjoy your videos and would like your thoughts on this particular movie!
Most of your opinions and like and dislikes in movies tend to fall in line with my own almost perfectly it's weird haha. But I just watched the movie the other day and it felt almost personal in a way, my parents and sister in the last year just moved to a very similar place in Texas like in the movie haha that's why this had me so creeped out I could totally see this happening out in the area 😮 Keep up the amazing work you do brother! I'm actually in the process of finding my own muse as a fledgling CZcams creator so all of our similarities inspire me 😁
Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to rent it than finish your vid! I Love shit like this!
I love when big review channels do smaller movies, so that they get the attention they deserve for good quality.
HOLY SHIT! the credits to this movie feature Gustav Dore's artwork! I got Death descending tattooed on my arm
Thank you for posting this I'm just waiting and bored so thank you I love you. Good day.
Saw this with the director in the house at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Loved its different, and more grounded, take on the typical haunted house story and found the satanic chant thing that they hauntee hears, very impactful. For some reason the weird tongue chant thing really stuck with me. Oh, and also loved the soundtrack, and use of Metal culture in the film
Respect from Russia.
I remember you mentioned that u like last Dan Stevens`s works. I hope u will make a review of "Legion" TV show that will end soon. Noah Hawley as showrunner again knocked it out of the park. As Dan Stevens and Aubrie Plaza did, they gave their best perfomances so far. Also the camera works, montage and the trippy visuals are very impressive.
I would love to see an analysis of THE SHINING from you Chris
