Also, to grind away a lot of material from the inside before sanding, I would recommend getting a round metal filer used for sharpening chainsaw chains, and chuck it to a drill press, or make a rod that you could attach sand paper sheets, it’s cheaper then the dremil parts
Este Glez Best recommendation ever. I spent literally 3 hours and a lot of dremel parts and I didn't reach the desired width. Then I bought a round metal abrasive thing, and finished got 3 rings in 1 hour.
Could you use a drill bit to round out the middle?
@@markfinster1256no, drill bit too slow and it will tend to wander and drift. Rather use a die grinder as it has a much higher rpm so it won't want to drift and kick back. Pop a carbide up cut bit in the die grinder and you will hog out the hex thread in no time and create a lovely smooth inner diameter.
Dude I’m going to try this and make this for my mum for Christmas because she wears a lot of rings so this would be great thank you for the idea
I love this channel so much! Thanks man!
More easy home stuff! (Keep up the other stuff too though!)
thanks patrick this is very helpfull
I made my own hex ring as i call it. I actually used a hand file for the entire outside and a round hand file on the inside. Both were about 7 or 8 dollars plus my hex nut was a dollar. Also mine was a weird shape and required a lot of filing on something most hexnuts dont have and thats a round second half. It took me 8 hours overall and i suggest using brass as its a bit softer... or zinc. Im working on a zinc ring now.
Oh. My god.
Dude. The inspiration you just gave me is profound.
this is pretty awesome, love the DIY aspect
This is a very helpful video for newbies such as myself, it opens up more possibilities for ring making, as always more quality content from you, thanks again and God bless.
All of the rings you've made are so freaking awesome!
This is helpful cause I’m making this for my mom so thanks so much dude not I can say “I worked hard on it”
That was a sick catch at the start of the video!
This is excellent buddy ! Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you Patrick, I will be doing this shortly. Besides stainless steel, you could use brass or copper hex nuts.
This different kind of video is awesome! More, please!
Great way of making a cool ring that we can all try, thanks man!
I love the look of this one it is great
You make some very informative videos! Easy to follow along!
thank you so much for this DIY
Love these, currently a Jewellery & Silversmithing student in Birmingham, might try this one out when I have some spare hours in the workshop. Be nice to seat a small stone on the bolt face.
I like these talented people that ask for the viewers comments. Nice!
I love what you make I'm kind of obsessed with rings (I wear 7 at all times and plan on completing my set of 10 eventually) so I was wondering if you'd be able to make a glow spin ring to see how it would turn out
Sounds like something a mechanic or metal head would like. Especially because of the ease of creation.,
I think its great! I would love to see a Video of a still very simple to make but proposal worthy ring =D I like the idea of making my wedding rings myself.
An impressive work of ordinary materials. Good idea!
I suggested this a long time ago but I saw you did it with the Superconductor ring. You should leave a Damascus ring in etch for 6-7 hours. Then fill the voids with glow powder. Like red. Use the instacure super thin CA glue to get in all the gaps.
Another super cool ring lol i love this channel so much!!!!! Definitely going to try this when i get the chance
That is a great way to create a good looking ring ,that actually looks very expressive, thank you for the video,I just started watching you, definitely amazing work you do, from one artist to another keep coming back with new ways to create beautiful rings!
You do great work man!
Your videos are honestly the sickest thing I have ever seen. Your rings look amazing.
awesome man Thank you for another easier ring.
Awesome dude! Nice ring! 👌
Congrats on the 200k soon my dude
Wow right on my dude!!!
Patrick Adair Designs very nice craft we had some water work men leave all sorts of shit behind messy buggers but in a,wet cardboard box was some stainless steel nuts bonus you gives me an idea domes rubbish is someone else treasure ?👌💕🐺
Great video, would love some more basic tool videos also love the DeadMau5 poster!
Yeah, I like this. Thanks so much. A person could also stamp the top of it with words or graphic design. Cool!
Love the more basic rings! Could you try making one from micarta? I know that it's possible to make some yourself from paper and resin, so it would be a cool personal material to work with, and it shouldn't be as hard to sand down as metals are.
I love this ring
Looks really good
You Rock & Rule 😊
Patrick I love your channel and I was wondering whether you would be willing to do a video where you make a expanding ring mandrel and a ring blank
Super happy you made something without glow powder.
Loved this video, plz do more
That was incredible and I can't wait to try this although I don't own any of the tools you used. New subscriber.
It looks good! Next time try leaving the top three flat edges for some added geometry. It looks a lot like a Signet ring that rich men wear! Nice job. I'm a lady, wife and Mother yet at five foot 10, I would wear it!
Great build.
Thank you for the vid. I’v wanted to make one and i could figure out how.
what a beautiful ring
I notice a lot of people that comment say the rings don't look good during the whole process but look amazing when its finished. I hate that as an artist, people seeing my work before it's done for that reason. You really do make incredible rings I've been binge watching since last night I'm really glad I found this challenge. Do you take orders as well I'm really interested in having you make a ring for someone that's really special to me.
Love it!
I'd recommend doing this with a mild steel nut and using bluing to put a fine black finish on it.
This is so cool
SOOOOOON THEE 200K
Thank you, I have been trying for 4 days
My grandfather was born in 1918 during our last pandemic, sadly he lost his mother shortly after he was born due to the influenza. Anyways, he made his wedding ring out of a hex but like the one you did. He passed away at the age of 91 and my dad now wears his ring. I have always wanted one like it and plan to finally try to make me one. Thanks for the inspiration.
Please make a different style of ring using hex nut this is awesome!!!
I like it, just a couple days ago I was watching other hex nut ring videos, maybe you can engrave it and fill the engraving with glow powder or other stuff.
Hey Patrick love your vids
so cool!
What would also be cool and something that could probably done with the same tools is to take this ring and mill out a shape (rectangle, circle, a letter, etc) in the flat part. Then inlay some glow powder and other materials just like you do with the other rings.
I made one once but I used no power tools just files and hand sanding. Took me forever but I got a mirror polish and was proud of it
Amazing
Congrats for 200k subs!!! (I was ur 200,001st one) 😉
Can you recommend someplace to pick up SS Hex Nuts larger than 1/2"? Home Depot doesn't ever seem to have larger than that. Also, is there a way to treat hex nuts made of other materials so they will not rust? Thanks! Love your channel, keep up the GREAT work!
Nice im going to try it.
I really love your work and I also have a request for a really cool idea for a ring , you should make more superhero rings and please make a glowstone version of the reverse flash ring that would be great
And btw I love the ring bro and I've been following you on Instagram
Can you make video about writing with dremel or about puting shards/cryatals (maybe glass) in the ring?
that is so cool
You deserve more viewers
Awesome tutorial, Just curious what size is that pinky ring? Thank you
Hey dude, I don't know much about machinery and how to use them and stuff, but I need some help. I tried making one of these rings and I don't have a dremmel thingy (idk what's it called) so I made a makeshift dremmel thingy using a drill and then poked the drill thing into a piece of styrofoam, I cut out into a small circle, then taped and glued it so it doesn't fly off and then I glued sandpaper on the styrofoam. I was "able" to smoothen the inside of the ring. So can I shape the outside of the hexnut just like you did with my makeshift dremmel thing?😂
I just wanted to know how much do you charge for custom ring does it depends on how much work abd supply you have to use
Hey man you know... Christmas is coming soon... And I also have small fingers...
hello a question but the hexagonal nut is stainless steel or a simple hexagonal nut galvanized? thank you
hheyyyy wooooww , well done bro
How do you deal with rings on winter when cold shrinks the fingers? y normally wear 8 rings on one hand and 10 on the other hand and in summer there is no problem with them , but in winter they tend to fall off
Add a jewel to the square face, would look great!
Would annealing the nut before doing anywork on it make it an easier piece lf metal to shape?
love the end result! maybe carve some symbols on it? just an idea
Can you do a tour around all your amazing stuff? PLEASE.....
Can I use a round palm sander instead of a belt sander to sand the corners and to taper the ring? (Going for signet style)
I like it😍
very nice👍
Very helpful for me and probly to everyone else
You deserve 1 mill subs
Finally something I can afford :D
Would it be easier to use an oven at a moderate heat to temper the hardness first?
Glow ring idea the one ring to rule them all and having the letters glow red
You should totally make a The Phantom ring out of that! ;-)
Hi I am interesting to do my own ring by myself :C And you video is my inspiration. But I don't have a lot of money. so it's possible to use only 1 drill to make space in the ring or shape the ring?? all I have it's home stuffs. ;(
This is awesome
Edit: if you need larger bolts you can find the on the backside of guard rails by roads, some of them are likely to be loose and while it might not be entirely legal you can also probably buy them on amazon lol :D
That’s my kind of ring. 😎 how much would you charge for that?
Seth H ya
Probably 7.99
I'm going to make two of these
Cool video
Dude the deadmau5 poster back on the wall!!!!😘🔥😍 (1:14)
DEADMAU5 PAINTING/PICTURE IN BACKGROUND!!!! AWESOME!
Sly Cooper yeah my boi!! Deadmau5 🔥🔥😘😍
im actually making a new Mau5 head 3d Model if you want my sketchfab i will add the link :)
I literally made one of these yesterday 😂😂
That is so beautiful like a shining diamond
What are those compounds
I got the tools but dont know the compounds
EGYPTIAN PHARAOH those are called polishing compounds, and you can usually find them through jewellery supply shops. You might even find them for sale on one of Patrick Adair's websites. I think he has one site for his rings, and one site for his supplies, so be sure to check his bio for links. Good luck
What else can you use to polish the ring with
hey new here came over from TKOR I think it would be cool to see a glass ring or something fully transparent or better inserts so you could change the design
