  • No complicated technologies this week (again). Just files, patience and creativity- all I had with me. (Of course, there were some other minor equipment, but most of work is done by file). It’s my another balcony project. Brutal men’s ring. I know you like my jewelry.

I left the threads in mine so the ring will stay on my finger more securely. I twist the ring onto my finger and then torque it to 30 inch-pounds.

This man is definitely a tool and die maker, my father also made beautiful pieces of jewelry for us and my Mom, he was also created our front door out of metalwork flowers everyone that sees it loves it, plus he was a painter, he was so multi-talented it was amazing! He created a huge swing set and slide for us outside...he did so.much for us...downstairs he made us an amazing playroom. We had a magical life thanks to my Dad and my Mom was the chef of the house. Dad was the creator and Mom was the nurturer. I would gladly live this life over with them again!.

The drill at 5:14 and the torch at 9:47 definitely were detractions from an otherwise remarkably impressive feat. Yep that’s the way of steel! There is stuff you can do to help it not rust though ! There’s waxes and some polishes will help prevent rust, there’s also this stuff called penetrating oil that works really well for steel tools though I’m not sure how it well it would work for jewelry. I made some forged chasing tools and it put it on them after having them rust every time I set them down at night and came back to work the next day, and after that I didn’t have a single problem with them until they had to sit for a few months in a humid studio !

For future reference, files only cut material on the push stroke. By going back and forth with equal pressure, you're only dulling your files. Only apply pressure on the push stroke, let up, then push and repeat. It will keep your files sharper in the long run and reduce scratches on the material caused by metal chips getting dragged across the face of your material on the pull stroke.
