I LOST a FISH OF A LIFETIME first cast (salmon fishing in Scotland 🏴)

- Whilst pike fishing in the highlands of Scotland i see a fish rise in the distance first far out and then closer so i tie on a Toby and first cast i hook a salmon well over 10lbs which proceeds to strip line of what is my perch set up. After a fight of a couple of minutes it pops of leaving me distraught on the bank. The next day i lose another fish this time out on the boat.
Just when you thought that pike fought hard... bad luck but it won’t be the last time you hook into one. I’m sure of that!

i lost a big double figure salmon on the fly yesterday on the findhorn, i lost one last saturday aswel around 12-14lb but yestredays one was bigger! it is going to haunt me for years now 🙈 i can still remember losing a 10lb salmon on the small river lossie on a 9ft trout rod in august 1987, i remember it like it was last week 😂 you never fully get over it! so i can feel the young lads pain!!
How did it come off? Did your knot fail, line break or did it shake the hook? Very unlucky regardless, I’d of been heartbroken in that scenario.

Just shows you the difference between pike and salmon. There’s no comparison, that was definitely a double figured fish. That wee rod stood no chance. Unlucky

@@thescottishpiker2010 I’ve just started taking fishing seriously this year just played at it when I was younger, pike fishing seems to be the way to go for me watched a few of your vids mate keep it up!
@@thescottishpiker2010 Ahhh us pike anglers are a secretive buch eh? lol I think I recognise the water... Unlucky there bud it's amazing how moving salmon can be easy to take some days but mostly they have you pulling your hair out ha...
@@StevieH-1872 yes we are!! And rightly so with the types that you see on the bank. That’s the problem with CZcams, you want to share your experiences and knowledge but also don’t want to have the waters you and others enjoy ruined by the inexperienced and uneducated. I just hope I get another chance at a salmon. Might have to put the effort in over the summer, now I’ve got the bug.
@@thescottishpiker2010 Indeed, a lot of people don't realise the pike is one of the most delicate fish in our waters despite their appearance... Tight lines bud =)
