I definitely need more of those classical inspired exercises! Great video btw, always cool to see advanced people speak about how they practise (or don't lol)

    Astute observations.
The anchored thumb stretch for muting a 5/6 string definitely affects the mechanics of faster picking - especially when coming from a 4 string.
Side note - @ 8:02 your chair makes it look like you have grey horns, or pointy elf ears 😜

I play 7-10 Broadway musicals a year in my town, on double bass and bass guitar, and just about the only practicing I do is prepping the really hard parts that are in those types of shows. Once you get to the point of playing theatre shows on a regular basis, pretty much everything else is really simple. Except Jeff Berlin. Learning his solos still take a lot of practice.

If it’s about who can practice the least, I think I can win this one.

The right hand forearm sounds like the same problem that hadrien had which made him switch his strap

Yeah, he told me about that too. I might just do that 😅 It’s such an annoying thing to deal with

Hi Anthony, talking about practicing when you are already very advanced... Have you ever thought about learning Upright Bass? It would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on learning Upright Bass as an electric Bass Player in Jazz. Thanks for all your amazing content !

Dear Anthony, nice video as always !
Question on the "floating thumb" technique, usually when you are playing:
A string, thumb rest in B
D string, thumb rest in E/B
G string, thumb rest in A/E/B
I´ve noticed that when you play in G string, your thumb rests on E string, any particular reason ?
Cheers from Argentina ! Love your channel !

i actually laughed at the end when you said bottom line everyone needs to practice… even you!

Sure. It depends on what you want to play. If you want to play punk rock bass it's even frowned upon to study too much for example
