    He is an expert in algorithmic game theory - I think he knows how to negotiate debt repayment. I praise his efforts in leaving it till late to strike a deal, in order to create urgency in German creditors and member states of Eurozone. Very, very intelligent man and a progressive government.

    2:13 "Save us no more." - that's a great one. "Saving", in this sense, has become a complete contradiction, just like "bringing freedom and democracy" to the Middle East. As far as Yanis Varoufakis goes, I've never heard more logic and common sense from any politician or economist. I sincerely hope he manages to beat some sense into stubborn and/or corrupt politicians in other EU countries, including my own.

    The Legends Of Greece Are Real
    Go, Greece, go…
    Don’t look back, go…
    You just left behind Medusa’s head.
    Now hurry up reach Prometheus’ fire,
    He is still chained on Caucasus Mountains.
    If you need wise words, go see Socrates,
    You may find him on top of seven mountains in the island of Cyprus,
    Out of where he still teaches the nations.
    From there you are half way to meet Alexander,
    He suggested - you should meet with Zeus, later.
    Wait, I hear Aphrodite’s laughter,
    She sings, “My Love for you Greece is on real fire”.
    Whom are you kidding - Oracles of Apollo?
    Look, they are melting down from the sky,
    One after another finishing the dance of divine,
    Whispering in a barely audible voice -
    “From Greece will be seen the paradise”.

    The three steps of Europe's reformation:
    1. Unify Eurpe's banking sector and recapitilize banks forcefully
    2. Centralize large part of euro zone's public data via the European Central Bank
    3. Use the European Investment Bank to shift idle savings in protected investments in the counties that need it the most.

  • @alfredoldr1731
    @alfredoldr1731 Před 9 lety

    There are only three agents who can foot the bill of Greek debt: strained Greek taxpayers, European and German taxpayers, and creditors insofar as they don’t get paid.
    1. If the Greek people are already strained, by definition they cannot foot the entire bill. Debt restructuring rather than a write-off simply means mortgaging the future and shifting the burden to the young and unborn.
    2. Any European and German contributions must go to either the Greek people or to creditors. i) If they go to the Greek people, they are a form of simple and direct income redistribution. ii) If they go to creditors they are a form of negative social redistribution -from the haves to the have nots.
    3. To say that no part of the debt can be written off is to say that i) creditors will not contribute to the solution, ii) creditors must enjoy risk-free investments …even if they demand hefty interest rates. Excluding debt write-offs thus presumes privatizing the benefits while socializing the cost. The moral as well as economic basis for this remains to be shown.
    Sharing the problem three ways by definition implies writing off part of the debt, whether European and German taxpayers send their money either to Greeks or to the creditors.

      ...and that means reform [cause we can't borrow and spend beyond our means forever]

    • @ergwer45624
      @ergwer45624 Před 9 lety

      Thou Art That nah, viable can mean many things. A Greece condemned to have eternal 100%+ GDP debt and high corporate taxes to make it uncompetitive for industry, it's fine for Germany.
      This way they get the high value-added economy and Greece stays focused in tourism and hospitality, specialized agriculture and so on, with just about enough to consume their products, and cheap enough for Germans to get their asses wiped in Greece when they are old. Oh, and the brilliant young P.I.G.S. can work in the Blue Banana, contributing to this statu quo.

    • @leo333333able
      @leo333333able Před 9 lety

      why does greece have to stay focused on a low value-added economy? that's up to the greeks to change, it will take decades and first they have to reform.

    This so-called economist may be part of the problem. Fundamentally, europeans have failed to create wealth by not producing the goods, providing the services and starting the businesses the world demands and thus fail to employ people at a reasonable wage. Politicians have over-regulated and can never inspire wealth-creation only stymie it.
