You are so right about this sub, I have had mine a year before the pandemic started and I love it and couldn’t imagine life without it. The ability to control the parameters from your phone and hear instant results is fantastic. I wanted xlr, actually it was a requirement. There is something else not mentioned here is that SVS has an actual speaker matching guide that covers a ton of speakers. You go to it select your brand and model and make the suggested adjustments for your speakers and you could be done and yes Magnepan speakers are in there. I took their suggestions and tweak them some more. If you have something not in their guide, you call SVS, tell them what you have and they will give you suggestions for the best blend match. Their support is second to none. I eventually want another one for two channel. When you think SVS you think hometheater, but never in a million years would you have thought this sub could be this good in a two channel setup and for those of you at the highend of audio that might normally look down your noses on an SVS sealed sub like this, please don’t, it is more than capable of keeping up with your mains, electrostatic, planets or etc. The prices went up since my was purchased at least 400.00 and yes it is extremely heavy, I bought the upgraded feet.
I have the SB16-Ultra so I can attest to the sub bass prowess of their upper tier. I've had measurements down to around 9hz in my room, so not far off. Excellent video, keep up the good work! 👍🏻
Large, sealed subs are my jam. I won't deny ported subs bring the displacement to another level, but there's just something about a large driver in a relatively compact enclosure that really appeals to me. And with DSP and good amplification, I'd argue that they bring more bass per footprint than most people will ever need.
I have one and it’s great! But I listen really really loud at times and a single sb4000 isn’t enough. Don’t really have the option for two. So I bought the sb16 and have yet to demo it against the 4000 to see what the hype is about. The 4000 definitely delivers, in my room I got down to 11hz.
I have an older SVS sub as part of my 5.1 setup and I love it. The hardest parts are proper placement & blending it with your system. I got it primarily for audio surround mixes but obviously awesome on movies as well. The newer ones, with a remote, are nice because sometimes you will need to adjust it on the fly. All surround mixes are not created equal ;)
I recently added the Sb4000 to my home theater system, I found it curious that I needed to throw more signal into the pre out of the subwoofer for it to play nice!
@@felixlaboy1453 i would go with the PB-3000, it will provide you with an excellent experience for home theater as well as maintain musicality for your everday tunes. If you do decide on buying one I humbly ask that you use my link, it helps the channel. Thank you and enjoy the weekend and your bew subwoofer!
How does this compare to the Starke SW15? Starke has a BOGO at the moment 2 for 1000, would that he a better deal for a desktop setup for games, music, and movies?
Have you heard the SB3000 it would be an interesting comparison to this SB4000 as I think the SB3000 is easier to accommodate for most people due to the size and price difference
I have the SB-16 Ultra and it's an awesome sub. But pay attention to your room. In my case, in my living room, where the roof has a 45 degree incline, the sound is sooooo much more powerful than in my man cave room. The cave is smaller, so I think in such a room the 16 Ultra does not have enough room to properly breathe, but in my living it does. And when it does it, it shaaaaaakes the room beyond belief. And it is not even struggling to do so. 16 Ultra in mind blowing. So this 4000 is from the same breed and the 16 Ultra, just a bit smaller. Expect powerful base from it.
Questions - there's 1 on the market place for $100 "brand new" BUT... It looks like it's just the subwoofer and nothing else. How do I tell if it's the actual one vs knock off? Would these boom in a SUV?
bass measurement is one thing, nut in the end to get good results you ned to listen for yourself. a tone generator from a google search will do that for you. a mic measured flat response to 8 hz dont matter if it do not sound like that to your ears in listening position. i found that 10db gain is needed at a upwards slope towards lowest bass. for anyone else room gain and subwoofer size change this, and how you perceive bass and at what volume you did the test. i am pretty sure people doing that sweep and listing for themselves would find out that mic sayes flat to 20hz and you wont hear a damn thing at 20hz.
It's tough to make an exciting review on a subwoofer, so nicely done. I do wonder how much you pay for the app and display vs just having knobs for adjustments, but hey, you pays your money and takes your choice.
Home theater bass is bad and weak if it can handle 2 channel stereo sound surround is a no brainer because all these new surround modes suck 5.1 was the last impressive improvement nothing since has done nothing more at all and I know you know this
I think you may be a bit confused. Perhaps you should try one before assuming it's capabilities. I assure you it's size, the PEQ and other amazing features make this sub an amazing experience. If you feel 5.1 is the last impressive advent in home theater evolution then you're about 20 years behind the times.
I don't like that displays at all it isn't that hard to tune your sub if you can hear it it's too loud it should be low enough to blend in with your mains you should not technically hear a sub as far as directionally that is way too low and redicoulous for music listening there is nothing in real bass that goes that low
Look up one of Paul McGowan videos on CZcams where he explains the necessity of a subwoofer for a convincing soundstage. A good sub is supposed to go as low and as loud as possible in order to reproduce the realistic force of a live concert or pipe organ, for instance, while still blending in well with the main speakers. Unless there is some miscommunication on your part, there is no such thing as too low bass. Hans Zimmer concerts can dig well below audible frequencies.

Damn that’s impressive 9hz

So...
any updates?

Me as well Onkyo RZ 50
Thanks for all the good advice
No problem, thank you for watching!
So I was thinking of getting the PB 3000 but now after this review I’m so confused on what to get. What would you guys recommend.
Please help
Will you be using it for Home Theater and Music?

Very different subwoofers, but for the value YES right now, the Starke deal is unbeatable!

Not a good idea to mix sealed and Ported subs

I wonder why not manny people really reviewed the sb 4000

I've never in my life heard someone complain about a subwoofer going too low. It's like saying a car goes too fast 😕
The display can be turned off via the app if you dislike it so much.
