      I'm pretty sure its just a vulcanizing solution, or rubber glue. If you've ever patched a bicycle inner tube its the same. This looks like a fancy tire patch

      @Chris-yy7qc Před 6 lety +1

    • @simonj48
      @simonj48 Před 8 lety +22

      +Kevin Minato It's just rubber with rubber contact cement. Like a patch that you use to fix a bicycle tire, except it's been cut to the letters/design you want.
      I'm sure if you're creative, you could print and glue out your own design onto some rubber, cut it out carefully and then stick it to your tire in the same manner.
      The lardest part will be sourcing the the correct color rubber, but it's probably going to be far cheaper than 240 bucks.

    That stuff is exactly the same material used to make rubber inflatable boats and their brand logo's, then laser cut to suit. It's uv treated and the glue is the same as on RIB boat's, it's a flexible pvc cement.

    Just came back to this video out of nostalgia. I wanted to say this product is pretty good for what I was looking for. It really stands out, makes it look like my tires came like that rather than the DIY paint. I'd get lots of questions and compliments when I first did it years ago. A couple tips, make sure you get the correct size letters and I honestly think it looks the best with bigger tires not so much the thin sport ones. Saw a guy get it on his charger with letters waaay too small and it didn't look right. Take your time with cleaning and sanding, it really makes it last because my first time around I rushed it and the letter E's had the middle bits rip off often. Take time with placement because it will really be noticeable if something is crooked, bubbled under, or not equal spacing. My review on the glue, you sure its not just super glue? Haha Thanks for the video either way, couldn't have done it without you.

  • @AmirAbdullah

    We did it the old fashioned way , sat in front of the tire used the paint pen and went to town. Took forever , however if you got nice tires it looks better if you ask me. Sure it when yucky we need to do it over, but it’s cool when it’s finished. But the feeling you get when your out with your son or wife and ppl are checking you out is timeless. They did it when my dad did the lettering on his tires in the 80’s and now my son gets to enjoy that. Cool stuff these stickers are , even tho I’m gonna go with the pen I’m still gonna buy some to support the culture.

    Sanding down the rubber to have an even finish, then cleaning the surface will help a lot. But we need to keep in mind how strong the sidewall of the tires are. For example I have both Federal 595 Super Steel Tires and Pirelli P Zero Run Flat. On the Federal 595 the letters came off after a few months. And on the Pirelli P Zero Run Flats they holding on just minor discoloration due to tire shiners but u can revive it with the tire markers. Also i have tried many adhesives. Such as rubber cement crazy glue gel, rubber adhesives, gorila glue gel, locktite super weld gel, and I will try contact cement now. Too see wich one holds the most. But in emphasis the stronger the your tire sidewall the more they will last.

    I've been using yellow Neoprene apron material. It has a mesh backing. I've had letters last about 1 year on my DD.
    I use the Aron Alpha glue from TW, but I cut the neoprene myself. I make a template on my computer with black outlines. Then double sided tape the neoprene to the paper, and in a well lit area, cut each letter. The best glue is Aron Alpha; I've tried contact cement (so-so), loctite glue (some turns yellow in UV sunlight).
    Prep is key. I've also carefully trimmed raised letters off my tires to get a smoother surface to glue onto. I would not try to glue onto the ridge sidewall on most tires.
    Given that sidewalls flex, no glue will last forever. I'm hoping to find a real vulcanizing rubber glue that might be better and flex more. More aggressive cornering means less life of the letters as it flexes, or you get actual contact with the road if you put the letters too close to the tread.

    If you're driving in a hospital or laboratory it's all good. But if you're driving on the road especially in countries that get a lot of rain and sunshine, you'd be lucky if they stick for 3 months. The heat and rain will loosen the glue and the alphabets will fall off or if you scrape against the curb, it damages the alphabets. Secondly, the rain will turn your white alphabets yellow unless you wash your car and detail the tyres everyday

    Wow, I would not have even let him bring a power sander anywhere near my ride. That said, for the purpose of people at home, I might suggest a manual palm sanding, especially if you are not experienced with one. The same objective can be met, remove the top layer of rubber to expose a surface free of lubricants that are in tire dressings.
    The tire lettering thing has caught my eye lately and I've mostly only seen it on the more otherwise ridiculous looking cars out here. Yours is one of the first I have seen on a more tasteful design build. I like the way it pops on the murdered out color scheme. I think I might have to pick some up.

    Okay, maybee a little ocd here from my part. But i would either take the wheels off or spin each rim (drive forward/back) so that the centerloggo on the rim would be level, then apply all the lettering in the exact same spot on all the wheels. ^^,

    I would say for custom lettering and designs then yeah why not but if you just want your tire's brand to pop your better off using paint markers.

    Hey im not sure if theres a follow up video or comment on this. Did you keep the letters on ? If so how long, did they fall off or become loose. Ive havent had any luck with tire paints so im looking for an alternative for a custom name placement.

    This special tire glue is hard to find in my country.
