    This one was maddening. But the secret to the trick is revealed in the name itself, magic drop. It's all about the "drop" the yoyo makes on the string to get the rejection. Newtonian physics at work here. Let the force of gravity do the rejection for you. Best chance to do that is get a straight drop on the string.Took me maybe 14 hours of practice to eventually land it 90% and repeating.The NTH initiates the swing to give more momentum and force necessary for the yoyo "drop" on string. TH "gun" stays still and pretty much lifeless and heavy. Making a narrow arch on the upswing is important to allow the yoyo to "drop' straight down nearly 90 degrees on the nearest string. I have my NTH about 4-6 inches lower than TH when I start. This allows the yoyo to pick up speed on the upswing to get just over my NTH index and just drop straight down nearly 90degrees like a stone on the string. My most common errors were unsteady TH, bad swing over, too much control over TH, thinking too much, playing to strong and intense, weak landing on string at acute angle with not enough force to cause the rejection. Keeping hands a little closer together with looser back string on the landing seems to get better results. The less you concentrate doing it or the more you drink, the better your results. Different yoyos give different outcomes. You just have to make unique adjustments to feel the zen of the magic drop. So far, I can land it better with a YYT Sage and YYF Replay. That string has a hard time coming off the Shutter. But, if you play with heavy and relaxed movement, you will get the magic drop time after time.

    Guys keep in mind depending on the shape and size of your yoyo you need to tilt your right hand in different angles.

    Is it "cheating" if you stick your thumb or a couple extra fingers in the loop around your non throw hand to separate the strings from each other more? I noticed you stuck your middle and ring finger in and it helped to land the drop on the back string. It's almost impossible for me to land it if I only have my non throw hand index finger in the loop when doing the rejection/drop cuz the strings can barely be separated.

    • @yoyoexpert
      @yoyoexpert  Před 7 lety +2

      Not cheating at all! It does help to separate the strings a little more in this one.

    Usually when I manage to hit a trick for the first time I can reproduce it. But with this one sometimes I hit it and sometimes I don't and I have no idea what causes it.

    • @yoyoexpert
      @yoyoexpert  Před 7 lety

      Try recording yourself doing the trick, it can help you look back and see what you are doing right/wrong. You might find you move one hand slightly differently or angle your fingers a little differently when you hit it properly.
