- This is a popular overview of some of my favorite All Terrain Tires. I'm looking at the BF Goodrich AT KO2, General Grabber ATX, Continental Terrain Contact, Goodyear Duratrac, and the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure. My favorite tire it the BF Goodrich KO2. It makes any truck look good. I like the General Grabber ATX too. If you ever need a set of tire and you aren't sure what you need, give me a call or text. Also you can buy tires from me at this link:

.
Shouldn't puncture resistant and ability to get out of anything off-road be the primary concern? If they are like dozens of miles away from any help, unless they are some super boy/girlscout, you are fucked. Last activity they do in life until they are dead only to be eaten by animals and birds.
Thank you for NO Music, very informative thank you.
Thanks for watching!
This guy know his job and products that he sells. America needs people like him.
Thanks!!!
So wrong. America has TONS of people like this. The problem is you have to get out in your community and support all these knowledgable small businesses. Ive never understood why saving $40 on Amazon and Walmart on $1500 worth of tires is worth seeing these business owners disappear.
@@pappyjohn8142 so true ma and pa business
You're not kidding.
CZcamsrs, pay attention, this is how you do a video. Super informative, not over the top. I hope you get a lot of business bro, if i didn't live downunder i'd come see you because of the effort you put into this brilliant vid!
I appreciate that!
Agree, it's 2021 and if you are still yelling out "whatzz up U tube" at the start of your vid I'm out. I want info not two minutes BS and umm, ahh, and basicly.
Another good review. I like that you give examples of what kinda of driver would use each tire. Helps me a lot.
Thanks!
Man, Jusat a good basic review from a real person in the business. Thank you.
My pleasure.
thank you, excellent information. I just put a set of the grabbers on my 2012 dodge 2500 crew cab long bed..ready for the Maryland snow.
Awesome!
You’ll be lucky to get 30k out of em. Threw a set of 255/80R17 Falken Wild Peak on my 2012 2500 Long bed crew cab and haven’t looked back. Twice the mileage for a little more money. Better performance all around.
Love the setup of the video with the tires side by side and how you kept going back and forth on what each tire was good at👍🏽
The General Grabber ATX is an extremely underrated tire. I love mine. While I really liked the Duratracs, they seemed to have more “side lean to them. The General ATX just seems much more stable.
I agree.
I also agree, I love mine!
General grabber has balance issues lot lot
Duratracs are loud
Straight forward, common man approach to your video. Great job.
The KO2 tire is a tire miracle. Glad to see all the competition it's stirring up.
There are so many great tires on the market today.
In the market for new tires, fellow employees recommended the KO2 and then I found this video. IM SOLD! Big thanks for the details on the differences and comparisons. 👍 If I was in VA you’d have my business.
N W I appreciate that!
Very well explained sir, thank you for providing me the knowledge to make an educated decision on future tire purchases with confidence. I'm happy I've made the correct decision with my second set of Duratrac for my Jeep Cherokee XJ.
You are most welcome
My Continental Terrain Contacts are very sticky on all surfaces without a hit to mpg. I crawled up a gravely 25° incline and with no problem in RWD. They are amazing in the rain too. Puddles don’t pull my truck in nor have I hydroplaned @ 75 mph. 4wd in the snow and ice, driving conservatively, has been great.
That’s exactly the kind of information I was looking for. How is the overall wear?
Had the General Grabber AT2s on my Wrangler for a few years and loved them. Great in the snow, great in the rain, and they still had a ton of tread left after 35k miles when I sold the vehicle. Just got some Grabber ATXs for my old beater Cherokee and I can't wait to see how they hold up
Right on
THANK YOU this was a huge help, just ordered my Wrangler's tonight!
Glad I could help!
Just bought a set of the grabber atx’s. Just had a snowstorm and they were great. Love them so far
I have a set of General Grabbers on my truck and have put a lot of mileage on them, they have held up really well with even tread wear. They are quite, yet very sticky in the snow and ice, and like any good AT tire they do great on gravel roads too. No complaints, will likely buy again.
I think the Grabber ATX is a great tire.
I always bought the Grabbers for my four wheel drive. Great tire for my dirt roads and snow.
Good choice!
Great vid, this is the type of info I needed on tires for my Jeep.
Glad I could help
I love my Grabbers. Had them for 4 years now. Looks aggressive. Excellent in the snow and tread life has been great. Road noise is minimal.
This was a really well detailed and helpful video. I wanted the KO2’s but they’re pricey and I think I’ll look into those generals now. Thanks
Thanks!
I just watched this video like I use to watch Bill Nye the Science Guy, informative yet interesting! Short but to the point with the most important stats! I really appreciate your sharing of useful knowledge! I'm thinking about the continental, since I drive an hour round trip on the freeway daily for work, but occasionally go off road on the weekends.
Good choice. I think you will be happy with the Continental.
They got the same mind just different job.
Great video with a lot of good info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience.
My Pleasure!
I am on my 5th set over 3 different 4x4's, of BFG all terrain. Great tire. I used to sell tires for a large chain, BFG rep visited us and explained the asymetric tread blocks on the BFG cause the tire to be loudest at 15 mph. Tire has many great features.
I think the BFG is a great tire. I have owned several sets too.
Very good review! I personally am a General Tire guy and I've had 4 sets of AT2's over the years and just ordered my first set of ATX's. I've had nothing but good luck with them and they work excellent in the Canadian winters.
Awesome!
are they quiet compared to K02s?
Great video! Enjoyed the break down on tires.
mendezjc77 Thank You!
Best tire comparison I've found on the Tube. Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
I run Duratrac's on both my trucks. They work great in snow, especially plowing. Really good off road during hunting season as well.
Awesome!
your the third Duretrac review I have read, wonder if you think they might be alright for my purpose.
I have a Tahoe I use for hunting/fishing/winter and I'm on my 3rd set (with different vehicles). I blew out a sidewall last week hitting a pothole. The tire was 8 years old and weather checked pretty bad so I went E series this time. I love the traction these tires have. I've previously owned the BFG KO2 KO Mud terrain. I don't think they compare at all.
GREAT JOB EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENTS‼️
Appreciate it!!
@@CampusautoCo Great video 👏 fantastic information all the things I never really knew explained in detail. Thanks to this my son has just purchased a set of K02's for his V6 Nissan navara much appreciated 🤙🇬🇧
I have the Goodyear duratrac best tire I ever owned , install on my GMC truck great in the mud and great in the snow , I live in the country have dirt roads and paved roads and these tires keep my truck on the road ,and also on wet pavement too, some people would say what about the ice on the road , to me for that answer its all about the driver's skill in driving on ice roads....over all in this video I give it 5 stars
Awesome!
be curious to hear your pitch on my post, i don't have a truck, Suv but would like to throw something for what I am doing proper. I hear one bad review on these tires, but it was one and the only one i found, so I would be interested if you think Duretrak would work...among the other choices for I would be using them for.
My 2 favorite AT tire brand/models I had in the past were the General Grabber ATs on my '88 Bronco II and the BFG KO2s, which were the last tires I put on my '98 Ranger. Both rode well on pavement, were good off-road and in the snow. I live in snowy upstate NY and I like to have AT tires that I don't have to swap out for snow tires in the winter. The Bronco Badlands I have on order is supposed to come with 33" KO2s.
This guy is the man - truly, great reviews for tires
Bought my first set of general grabber ATX tires a year and a half ago and love them. Great all around. I've put 80,000 km on them and still have 40 percent tread. Nice and quiet, never get stuck and not even a single puncture and I work at a transfer station so Always have a sprinkling of nails everywhere
are they quiet compared to K02s?
@@Jordan-yg5xb compared to ko2s much quieter and with better tread wear just rotate occasionally
Thanks for the great overview. As a Hokie living in OR now, it was fun finding your video. I've been running the BFG KO2s for 4 years and they did well in the snow but we're very loud when I hit about 30k between 40-60 mph. I'm going to try out the General Grabbers this time. I do a lot of snow and ice driving at high elevations with my family so winter condition performance is top priority. Thanks again and Go Hokies!
Awesome! We have Hokies everywhere. The Grabber ATX will be louder than the K02. Go Hokies!
Great informative comparison, makes it easier in choosing the right tire.
Glad it was helpful!
Love my BFG AT KO2 tires. Amazing performance. Backed into a ditch once to turn around (middle of winter, rear tires in water), fully expecting to get stuck (person stopped to ask if I needed help), but just drove out without any any problems. Wanted to test out my new winch, but not that day. When they delivered my new 28' camper trailer, their 4WD dully F350 got stuck in my soggy backyard. Pulled them out with my truck and then parked the trailer.
Thanks for the real world feedback!
Just got a set of 4 general grabber atx 33 12.50 r15 for 690 :) heard nothing but good things about them. Thanks for your in depth review and explanation of the tires.
You're welcome!
@Aleksfoxtrot Good choice Continental makes them

How are they so far? I plan on getting those exact tires and sizes for my truck
Hey Thanks for the education in tires! It was a good effort, and I wish I lived near you so I could give you some business.
Thanks!
thank you for this helpful video. currently shopping tires for my Tahoe.
My pleasure!
Learnt more than a few things here and I thought I knew it all, thank you for a very informative introduction to light off road tyres, think I’ll get the ko2 bfg’s 245/75/r16 for my VW Crafter camper, just a little concerned over it’s load rating as my van is limited to 3.5t thanks again.
Check the load range on the tire just to be sure.
The K02s are my favorite out of all of these tires, but my overall favorite is the Cooper AT3 4S all terrains. They are the perfect balance between highway and all terrains.
Got it.
Cooper AT3 4S tires are terrible in snow.
I loved my kos, replaced them with ko2s and love then even more!
until they wear out faster than your ko's!
thanks for the video, best explanation of AT I have seen
Thanks for the complement!
I bought general atx right when I got my truck and it was a beast afterwards. 35k miles and tread was still at 11/32 before I sold it.
I learned a lot about tires, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I have the Goodyear Wrangler all terrain adventure on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is a great tire.
Thanks for the feedback. It's very helpful to have real world comments.
This man knows what he's selling to the general public needs, and don't push on the sales for profits. But to the customers best interest road safety and durable performance. Thank you for the upload.
Thanks!
I have the all adventure on my work truck now... company used to run a lot of silent armours. .. not very impressed with them... not even sure they were as good as the old silent armours... Surprised not to see Toyo open country at2. Good video. I'm currently running KO2 on my tundra and am experiencing quicker wear than I would like. On the plus side they are wearing even, are still quiet even though they have 4/32 left after 48,000kms.
I live in northern WI, north of Green Bay, and had both DuraTracs and KO2s. The Duras are better winter tires than the KO2 in my opinion. I had them on a 1500, and the KO2s on the 2500. I've used both trucks to pull out vehicles in the snow. The Duratracs would pull them through unplowed roads about 6"-8" deep with no tire slipping (we've had storms where no snowplow would come for days afterwards). The KO2s, I get a lot of tire spin when I do. They're starting to get a little slicker just on wet roads too. I'm running 37s on it, so I'm thinking the ATx may be the next set of tires.
I got 107k miles on my General Grabber at2. When I first got them I had them high speed balanced and one of them had to be trude. They work great in mud, sand, rain in Florida. Currently looking for another set.
Right on. The Grabber ATX took their place.
I just got my General Grabber APT for my F150 and so far love them, I live in North Dakota and waiting for our deep freeze winter now
Nice, I'm curious how they will do up there in more extreme conditions.
Oh I sure will let you know once we our first snow fall
Very informative thanks! Best recommendation for 2500 gmc truck 2013 for snow plowing. Just purchased truck only has 1600 miles on it.
General Grabber ATX
I have had the Duratracs on 2 of my trucks, best tire ive had yet! no problems in the snow what so ever. they get noisy as they wear but that doesnt bother me. Highly recommend the duratrac. ive seen the grabbers in muddy ruts and they didnt perform well however in snow they were great! no expirience with the others
Thanks for the real world feedback!
I wish your shop was closer. I need new tires for my 4Runner and would buy from you. Excellent video.
I appreciate that !
Thank you much for a very informative and well-spoken video. I greatly appreciated your delivery on the facts and your personal experience. If you were in Northern California, I would drive to your business to buy tires.
Have KO2's on my 4runner but I was thinking of going for the General ATX.
1st of all this is my 1st time writing a comment on any CZcams video. The details you describe on the tires is awesome knowing a little bit more on why the tire is built a certain way will be a great help to a lot of ppl. Keep up the good work.i enjoyed learning about the squiggly lines
Thanks for watching!
Love my General Discoverer A/T for my RAM 1500 Quad Cab. Got a great deal on them at my local Walmart. They ride far better than the Goodyear Eagle tires that came on the truck from the factory because they were Terrible on wet roads and they did not ride well overall. After three sets I changed to something new and I’m so happy I did.I am shocked at the huge difference and they cost much less than the Eagles. Also the Cooper Discoverer A/T is very Quiet on the Highway and they have a very good off road tread. I’m 60 years old and I think they may be the best all around tires I have ever had on any truck & I’ve owned a lot of pickup trucks in my lifetime.
Oh man, Thanks for the feedback!
That was the most informative tire video ever 👍🏼
I appreciate that!
I used to live in Alaska and I had the general grabber at2s and they performed extremely well on my Wrangler. I had some tall narrow ones I think they were 255 85 16s and they did extremely well on my Wrangler. Thanks 👍
Thanks for sharing
I’ve owned trucks for 40 years and have run many brands. BFG are great for the first 10k miles and then they get sloppy. Had to ditch my last set for bad vibration while towing. Best overall tire for me is Goodyear Wranglers. Quiet and last 25-30k miles no issues. I might try Generals next time.
Try the General Grabber ATX
Just bought my 4th set of KO tires. The KO2 from the originals grew on me. I didnt love the look and really wanted RWL but BFG doesnt make them in my size anymore but the BFG KO2 is a great tire and still the best pound for pound. There are other great tires out there but the KO2 in my opinion is the best.
A friend had them and hated them, said they were really heavy.
My new tires are 53 lbs each. LT 265 75 R16 Continental terrain contact A/T. The same as my old tires (Bridgestone REVO A/T).. if you get the non Lt version of A/T; they are about 10lbs less each.
Thanks for the feedback!
Good video. I'm actually looking for a light truck AT tire for my UTV, I just need as light as possible and cheap, for riding trails and some asphalt riding. Good comparisons you did, Thanks
Try the General Grabber ATX
Always great tire reviews. Good information.
Missing the wildpeak AT3W's in this review. But I have KO2's and they are wonderful. Nice job overall on the video, I learned a few things.
Stay tuned!
Great info...have a new set of KO2's in my garage ready to be put on...had the KO's awhile back on another vehicle and we're great in the snow and gravel. I understand that the KO2s are much better and will not crack, get a hard surface and chip away like the old KO's.
Yes, they have a different tread compound that is supposed to help with that.
You are a legend man. Your video helps a lot.
Thanks for the info I'm gonna pick up the General Grabber's they sound like great value
I think that from watching your video I will be purchasing the General Grabber ATX tires. I really like the looks of them. Also sound like a good all around tire.
Awesome!
Love BFG KO 2.... I put the KO1 on my 1985 3/4 ton Chevy and they lasted forever.... Drove the truck for 10 years and outlived the truck and the tires were still good they last forever.... I live in Canada and between the Snow and mud on construction sites and the BFG All terrain KO have never gotten stuck, all day and night for me. now I have the BFG KO2 on my 3500 Chevy 4×4 Diesel and my Ford F-350 Dually... Wouldn't run anything but BFG... I bought the 3500 Chevy and it came with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, they were 70% when I bought the truck and they only lasted 1 1/2 years.
Awesome!
I have a set of General Grabber AT3's for the last couple of years on a Suzuki Grand Vitara; i have to say I have been very impressed, good on tarmac, good on very rough farm tracks ( over months of work travel ) and also experienced a few days of hill snow on farm tracks up in Scotland, so long as it wasn't too deep then the GG AT3 were a good choice... I have never used KO2 so I might try them next just for a change and a different look . . . .
Try them out. We don't have the AT3 here though. They made the ATX for our market.
I’m a retired game warden. I ran though several sets of those Goodyear wrangler with Kevlar through the years. Never had a problem with the tire, always dependable and got me through any situation. After a couple of sets they were my preferred tire. Good solid tire like you said. Used them in every thing from ice storms, hurricane details, chasing poachers, slick boat ramps, muddy hunting club roads etc. never dissatisfied with them.
Some of the guys used the more aggressive tread model Goodyear like you also have in the video, but that was a little too aggressive for my preference
Thanks for the real world feedback!
Love my General Grabber ATX!!
Cool, Thank you for the feedback.
Wish they made more sizes I'd give them a try.
Thanks for the video. Just ordered the BFG KO2's for my F250. They seem to fit the (my) bill overall.
Nice!
How are the big k2 on your truck it’s been 1 year now ??? Thanks again
I switched to General Grabbers, less money and last longer.
I have these on my 2017 Landcruiser look great and perform awesome from sand snow and mud. I wanted a hybrid tire looked at Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Mickey Thompson AT, and Maxxis Razor AT 811 but none had the three peak snow rated which helps when in the mountains.
Very nice!
I've had the DuraTrac's, KO2's, and Wrangler All-Terrain Adventurers with Kevlars. All have been great tires. I got 85k miles on my DuraTacs with a five tire rotation, and there was still tread life left. The AT3s have been ideal since I stopped wheeling my daily as often.
Love the duratracs had them in snow did great
Awesome!
during the summer how do they do?..
Never used any of those on my truck. I have Copper AT3s and their pretty good.
I think that Cooper is pretty good.
Cooper AT3s were awesome. I got 65k miles so far and still have tread. I noticed their price have gone up significantly since a few years ago.
Cooper tires wear too quick for me. Might get a year with them. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. The more expensive ones usually have longer tread life. But who has $1200 for tires?
This is such a good video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
My first choice was Ko2. After some intensive research and speaking to several people, I've landed on General Grabber ATX stock size for my truck. This is my first time rocking some All terrain tires. 3000 miles in and I'm happy with it so far. Looking forward to testing it out on some Michigan Snow.
I had a few sets of General Grabber AT2 on my truck for last 5-7 years. New ATX model seems better for Highway driving & Sand while the Old AT2 is better for mud & snow based on the lug depth and separation.
Yes, Its much better for highway stability.
Great info. Leaning towards the General Grabbers.
Good choice.
What's up Brain .. Did you buy your tires yet ? , seen your comment .. I went from BFG , to the General AT/Xs , well you know we didn't have any snow yet , but , the grip and bite of the AT/X are incredible !! 3 months now .. peace
@Nick J
Keep us updated.👍
My 2020 silverado came stock with continental grabber hts60. They have 50k miles so far , 12 miles when i bought it. Gripped perfrctly in all weather. Still driving them a year and a half later.
Thank you for that review! I’m looking into tires for my 2019 4Runner TRD off road premium, I’m mostly running over the road locally and need the tire to perform well when it snows. I live in the north east, so weather changes when you blink. What do you suggest? Are the KO2’s too much for standard road use? I would like something a little more aggressive though verses a standard highway tread. Thank you for your time 👍🏻
all I can say is that I have a great experience with General Tire product
Nice. Thanks for the feedback.
Me To have the HTS60s on my 4x4 Tahoe and the AT2 ON my '98 4x4 Silverado
The bfg ko2 tires are tri peak rated also. Enjoyed the video, thank you.
Les Fogerson thanks!!!
The KO2 comes in two varieties, and only one is Tri-Peak. The DT ("different tread") version is not Tri-Peak.
I run the Goodyear Duratrax on my Jeep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where we have chain restrictions like you talked about. The absolute best tires in snow I’ve ever had as long as your vehicle has a little weight to it, in the summer they do great off road on the big rocks. On my dually I run the Goodyear Adventurers since its life gets spent as a max capacity tow vehicle these have a better weight rating than the Duratrax. Both tires wear extremely well. I ran the BF Goodrich tires you show one time and wasn’t happy with them. It seemed like the compound was too hard so the didn’t hook up on snow and ice anywhere near as good as the Duratrax.
Stick with what you like.
This was very educational. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've had many different brands of all terrain tires over the years - Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Michelin and more. All have a few strengths and weaknesses, and all have been upstaged by my current tire, a tire destined to be my all time favorite - the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W All Terrain 265/70R16. A fair to good dry tire that excels when the weather gets nasty. The best wet road tire I have even driven on, and an even better ice and snow tire. Although an all terrain tire, this tire also sports the snow emblem, rating it as snow capable. They have certainly found a home under my Tundra.
[edit] For the record, I found the BF Goodrich to be the worst wet road tire of all the all terrain tires I have used. I live where it rains most days and I would not own a set of these ever again. IMHO, a dangerous tire in inclement weather, even though a good dry weather off road tire. I nicknamed them Sliders for their behavior in the rain, and I am a very conservative driver as my giddy-up left years ago.
Well, alot of people are having great experiences with Falken.

I bought my Ford F-150 back in August of 2017 and it came with a brand new set of General Grabber AT2’s on and I have really enjoyed them. I like the “wider stance” provided by the tread and while they might not be the quietest tire on the market, I certainly haven’t noticed the noise. I’ve driven through rocky terrain, sand, water, mud, occasional snowfall here in NC, logging roads, etc. without a problem. Is the General Grabber ATX a worthy replacement?
The ATX should be an upgrade from the AT2.
I loaded some bf ko2 on my 2021 Subaru Ascent and WOW game changer, highly recommended 👍
General grabber is what I own . Love these tires . I wanted a aggressive looking tire also .
i hate to break it but you should've included the Hankook Dynapro ATs those are the some of the best tires for the money I've ever had. The only ones that rival their performances are the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I live in the city with shitty roads so the Hankook Dynapros AT tires handle snow filled, icy roads and rough/rocky roads very well
been asking for options, my post is a small mini-series, but I am in the right place don't wanna write anymore, or read, or go through media, just here for advice so I can go buy, and be done.
Hankook dynapros are good as a tire swing and that's it they get stuck on wet grass.
Duratracs are the best tire I've ever run for snow/ice. As they age they get louder and louder though.
Johnny5 I agree.
Wow, learned a lot from this video. Thanks a lot sir!
Thanks for watching!
i have one size bigger Goodrich BF tires on my Tacoma ! it gives very aggressive look to a truck! i had so many compliments ! and very starry on snow!
Scary or starry?
I am buying my second set of BF Goodrich KM2's. 1 full year on the first set, a good 20k miles, and still 70% tread. Buying new ones to upsize and widen. I do work on a farm, a lof of mud, ditches, and also highway. It's amazing to me how great they sound. They're not loud and clunky on the highway as you would think any mud terrain tire would be, but you can tell they're there. If you listen to stereo at low volume you will not.
A friend that helps me has Firestone Destination MT's. He cannot at all drive his truck in the mud and ditches that I take my SUV in. He does have a Silverado so my Blazer gets better torque at lower rpm's than him. But it's the feeling in his truck as soon as we hit the mud as if we're starting to stick. I never have had that with these tires! Complete control at all times no matter the conditions!!!
Awesome!
Just bought a new 2019 ram 1500 and still have the stock tires on it. Reminds me how much i miss having my ko2's. I had 1 set of the ko and 2 sets of the ko2's and will not buy another tire for my truck. Cant wait to get new wheels and ko2's for my new ram.
I live in wisconsin as well
Kyle zarnowski just bought Ko2’s for my 2013 1500 and couldn’t be happier myself.
Jeremy Salas what size did you get ?

I have ran the grabber at2 ( old version) and they were excellent, I have ran the bfg ko ( old version) also, now I'm running the Goodyear duratrac and after 25k of good traction, I ran out 7/ 32 of rubber or about half way now. They started at 18/32.
That said, I really want the grabber x3 on my truck next. I'm hoping for the perfect match for my offroad endeavours on the Tacoma.
Try the Grabber ATX if you don't want a dedicated mud tire.
