  • This is a popular overview of some of my favorite All Terrain Tires. I'm looking at the BF Goodrich AT KO2, General Grabber ATX, Continental Terrain Contact, Goodyear Duratrac, and the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure. My favorite tire it the BF Goodrich KO2. It makes any truck look good. I like the General Grabber ATX too. If you ever need a set of tire and you aren't sure what you need, give me a call or text. Also you can buy tires from me at this link:

Shouldn't puncture resistant and ability to get out of anything off-road be the primary concern? If they are like dozens of miles away from any help, unless they are some super boy/girlscout, you are fucked. Last activity they do in life until they are dead only to be eaten by animals and birds.

Puddles don’t pull my truck in nor have I hydroplaned @ 75 mph. 4wd in the snow and ice, driving conservatively, has been great.

My 2 favorite AT tire brand/models I had in the past were the General Grabber ATs on my '88 Bronco II and the BFG KO2s, which were the last tires I put on my '98 Ranger. Both rode well on pavement, were good off-road and in the snow. I live in snowy upstate NY and I like to have AT tires that I don't have to swap out for snow tires in the winter. The Bronco Badlands I have on order is supposed to come with 33" KO2s.

Backed into a ditch once to turn around (middle of winter, rear tires in water), fully expecting to get stuck (person stopped to ask if I needed help), but just drove out without any any problems. Wanted to test out my new winch, but not that day. When they delivered my new 28' camper trailer, their 4WD dully F350 got stuck in my soggy backyard. I live in northern WI, north of Green Bay, and had both DuraTracs and KO2s. The Duras are better winter tires than the KO2 in my opinion. I had them on a 1500, and the KO2s on the 2500. I've used both trucks to pull out vehicles in the snow. The Duratracs would pull them through unplowed roads about 6"-8" deep with no tire slipping (we've had storms where no snowplow would come for days afterwards). The KO2s, I get a lot of tire spin when I do. They're starting to get a little slicker just on wet roads too. I'm running 37s on it, so I'm thinking the ATx may be the next set of tires.

Love my General Discoverer A/T for my RAM 1500 Quad Cab. Got a great deal on them at my local Walmart. They ride far better than the Goodyear Eagle tires that came on the truck from the factory because they were Terrible on wet roads and they did not ride well overall. After three sets I changed to something new and I’m so happy I did.I am shocked at the huge difference and they cost much less than the Eagles. Also the Cooper Discoverer A/T is very Quiet on the Highway and they have a very good off road tread. Great info...have a new set of KO2's in my garage ready to be put on...had the KO's awhile back on another vehicle and we're great in the snow and gravel. I understand that the KO2s are much better and will not crack, get a hard surface and chip away like the old KO's.

Love BFG KO 2.... I put the KO1 on my 1985 3/4 ton Chevy and they lasted forever.... Drove the truck for 10 years and outlived the truck and the tires were still good they last forever.... I live in Canada and between the Snow and mud on construction sites and the BFG All terrain KO have never gotten stuck, all day and night for me. now I have the BFG KO2 on my 3500 Chevy 4×4 Diesel and my Ford F-350 Dually... Wouldn't run anything but BFG... I bought the 3500 Chevy and it came with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, they were 70% when I bought the truck and they only lasted 1 1/2 years.

I have a set of General Grabber AT3's for the last couple of years on a Suzuki Grand Vitara; i have to say I have been very impressed, good on tarmac, good on very rough farm tracks ( over months of work travel ) and also experienced a few days of hill snow on farm tracks up in Scotland, so long as it wasn't too deep then the GG AT3 were a good choice... I have never used KO2 so I might try them next just for a change and a different look . . . .

I’m a retired game warden. I ran though several sets of those Goodyear wrangler with Kevlar through the years. Never had a problem with the tire, always dependable and got me through any situation. After a couple of sets they were my preferred tire. Good solid tire like you said. Used them in every thing from ice storms, hurricane details, chasing poachers, slick boat ramps, muddy hunting club roads etc. never dissatisfied with them.
Some of the guys used the more aggressive tread model Goodyear like you also have in the video, but that was a little too aggressive for my preference

I have these on my 2017 Landcruiser look great and perform awesome from sand snow and mud. I wanted a hybrid tire looked at Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Mickey Thompson AT, and Maxxis Razor AT 811 but none had the three peak snow rated which helps when in the mountains.

I've had the DuraTrac's, KO2's, and Wrangler All-Terrain Adventurers with Kevlars. All have been great tires. I got 85k miles on my DuraTacs with a five tire rotation, and there was still tread life left. The AT3s have been ideal since I stopped wheeling my daily as often.

Thank you for that review! I’m looking into tires for my 2019 4Runner TRD off road premium, I’m mostly running over the road locally and need the tire to perform well when it snows. I live in the north east, so weather changes when you blink. What do you suggest? Are the KO2’s too much for standard road use? I would like something a little more aggressive though verses a standard highway tread. Thank you for your time 👍🏻

I run the Goodyear Duratrax on my Jeep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where we have chain restrictions like you talked about. The absolute best tires in snow I’ve ever had as long as your vehicle has a little weight to it, in the summer they do great off road on the big rocks. On my dually I run the Goodyear Adventurers since its life gets spent as a max capacity tow vehicle these have a better weight rating than the Duratrax. Both tires wear extremely well. I ran the BF Goodrich tires you show one time and wasn’t happy with them. It seemed like the compound was too hard so the didn’t hook up on snow and ice anywhere near as good as the Duratrax.

I've had many different brands of all terrain tires over the years - Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Michelin and more. All have a few strengths and weaknesses, and all have been upstaged by my current tire, a tire destined to be my all time favorite - the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W All Terrain 265/70R16. A fair to good dry tire that excels when the weather gets nasty. The best wet road tire I have even driven on, and an even better ice and snow tire. Although an all terrain tire, this tire also sports the snow emblem, rating it as snow capable. They have certainly found a home under my Tundra.
[edit] For the record, I found the BF Goodrich to be the worst wet road tire of all the all terrain tires I have used. I live where it rains most days and I would not own a set of these ever again. IMHO, a dangerous tire in inclement weather, even though a good dry weather off road tire. I nicknamed them Sliders for their behavior in the rain, and I am a very conservative driver as my giddy-up left years ago.

I bought my Ford F-150 back in August of 2017 and it came with a brand new set of General Grabber AT2’s on and I have really enjoyed them. I like the “wider stance” provided by the tread and while they might not be the quietest tire on the market, I certainly haven’t noticed the noise. I’ve driven through rocky terrain, sand, water, mud, occasional snowfall here in NC, logging roads, etc. without a problem. Is the General Grabber ATX a worthy replacement?

i hate to break it but you should've included the Hankook Dynapro ATs those are the some of the best tires for the money I've ever had. The only ones that rival their performances are the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I live in the city with shitty roads so the Hankook Dynapros AT tires handle snow filled, icy roads and rough/rocky roads very well

I am buying my second set of BF Goodrich KM2's. 1 full year on the first set, a good 20k miles, and still 70% tread. Buying new ones to upsize and widen. I do work on a farm, a lof of mud, ditches, and also highway. It's amazing to me how great they sound. They're not loud and clunky on the highway as you would think any mud terrain tire would be, but you can tell they're there. If you listen to stereo at low volume you will not.
A friend that helps me has Firestone Destination MT's. He cannot at all drive his truck in the mud and ditches that I take my SUV in. He does have a Silverado so my Blazer gets better torque at lower rpm's than him. But it's the feeling in his truck as soon as we hit the mud as if we're starting to stick. I never have had that with these tires! Complete control at all times no matter the conditions!!!

I have ran the grabber at2 ( old version) and they were excellent, I have ran the bfg ko ( old version) also, now I'm running the Goodyear duratrac and after 25k of good traction, I ran out 7/ 32 of rubber or about half way now. They started at 18/32.
That said, I really want the grabber x3 on my truck next. I'm hoping for the perfect match for my offroad endeavours on the Tacoma.
