  • 75 years ago, 156,000 troops from all over the world, gathered for the largest invasion ever assembled.
Operation Neptune was the start of Allied operations, which would ultimately liberate Western Europe, defeat Nazi Germany and end the Second World War.
We remember this mission as D-Day, and on Wednesday, the eyes of the world were on Portsmouth, as the centre of the National Commemorations, honoring the veterans, and the sacrifice by so many for world peace.
