  • How to write an opposition scouting report! (Football/Soccer) - Scouting Presentation (Pre-Match)
    A question I get asked a lot is what kind of things to include when creating an opposition report or presentation. Although this video is based around football, the principles can be taken into other sports too.
    Often delivered as a presentation, the contents of this video would hopefully aid your team when coming up against your next opponents.
    Opposition analysis is a big part of sports analysis, especially within the football league.

      @@rickykeogh1Sorry Ricky, missed this reply. Working on something soon to collate some educational courses/options that I know to be good. Want to be sure and see for myself how good things are before recommending! Depending on demand, may also do something myself further down the line. Thanks again for watching 👍🏼

    Hey Chris, would you present this purely with the facts or also give your own input on how we can expose weaknesses/ mitigate risks? Would probably depend on the analyst-coach relationship I guess

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the comment Conor, but I think you have answered this yourself! Your input can start small and can grow as you build more confidence and gain more trust with your coach. As you will know, all coaches are different. Some will just want the facts, but plenty will be keen to hear different ideas and viewpoints. Building the trust/relationship with the coaches if definitely key though 👍🏼

      Tips on how to analyze an actual football games.
      Things to look out for & pay attention to. Example, how to spot patterns of attacking play & spot transition of team shape etc

    Do you present this yourself to the coaching staff? Or is it in a presentation format but they read/study it themselves? Thanks!

    • @chrisgill_UK
      @chrisgill_UK  Před rokem +2

      Hey deeco, thanks for commenting. That is a good question and the answer really does depend on the the content you are sharing and how your coaching staff prefer things to work. Certain reports can simply be shared to the coaches to look over themselves. For what I describe in the video, that would usually be the case.
      However, the info from that report could them be condensed to a presentation for the players to see, where the analyst may design and manage this, but the coach would tend to led on this.
      Hope that helps, and thanks for watching 👍🏼

      Hey Chris, just another question:
      Did you do any certifications/courses when you first started as an analyst? I want to become a professional analyst and am wondering how important certifications are, or do clubs rather look at your "portfolio" of sorts.
      Thank you so much.

      @@deeco8097 Definitely a mixture of the 2... However, clubs have to filter in some way and many do look for sports related degrees and even coaching qualifications. Really depends on the type of analyst though too. Requirements for a tactical (more video based) analyst, is very different to a sports data analyst...
