Even though she’s singing in a deeper tone, you can still hear the baby voice and the vocal fry. If she would practice using her natural deep voice with correct support it would be so sultry and soulful.
I completely agree. Some of the comments here are just mean. Most people either don't realize how deep and rich and beautiful her natural voice is, or they don't seem to understand that singing in a way that you're voice isn't meant for all the time just isn't good for it, ESPECIALLY without being trained to do so in a healthful way. Even if she hasn't caused too much permanent damage (including from smoking and drinking, both of which she's done a fair amount of in the past.... I don't know about more recently though), she's still essentially gonna have learn how to sing all over again. She's been groomed into using that fake "Britney" voice for so long, that her lower full chest register just isn't developed, and her first instinct is likely to go into a falsetto or head voice for the majority her range. If she practices and can shake away the bad habits and such that she's picked up/have been forced on her over the years, we can probably expect to hear really good things and a whole new Britney in the future
She always had that baby tune to her voice at times I think what's happened is they heard it and then went that's it we want that all the time

Yeah she needs a lot. I feel like she needs a lot of minor adjustment. Its like she had some idea how to sing some notes but not hitting it the right way multiple times here. She does need a good vocal teacher if shes really serious about making a comeback

I would disagree. If we strip it down to art, bc music including singing is an art, we cannot dictate how someone can use and do their art. Regardless of the amount of training and technique. Are we to say that dancers cannot be dancers unless they have training or classical training? Adele is often pitchy but that's part of her quality. It's not she's classically trained. It's frustrating seeing ppl only accepting art from someone who has had training. As a dancer with classical training it's not what I look for in a dancer. It's more than just technique. There's a place for technique, say maybe like an opera singer or someone who is procuring to a specific style

I think from a songwriting standpoint, she absolutely make great choices for the melodic changes. Very interesting. I'd love to hear a "Britney's Version" of this song.
I agree. Her voice isn’t in top form but I really liked the arrangement she was doing. This little differences from the original melody were very interesting.

You’re not wrong. She also has a very distinct voice that you can ALWAYS tell it’s her. That separates her from the rest.

Her original singing voice when she was a kid was deeper and much stronger. While her technique is a bit off, it's somewhat closer to her original voice. It seems like she's relearning.
Thanks to her dad, she's mostly had to walk around a stage in her underpants for the last few years without any real opportunities to really sing.
Britney in her free voice is what the pop needs, period.
I love that she uses her lower voice here. Hope she'll finally record a hit using this voice as a main one.
While she may need some vocal lessons, I appreciate that she has the confidence to sing like she does here. A lot of people wouldn't. I also quite like her lower register and her head voice.

That's a kind sentiment, but I just want to remind anyone reading this that everyone processes painful events differently. It's okay for people to not be back to their normal lives right away or to not seem like their usual, upbeat selves if they do. If it's inspiring for some to see her back at it, that's great, but it doesn't have to be what we all aim for.
The thing that impressed me the most is that she’s still singing.
After all she’s been through, I wouldn’t have been surprised if she’d just pulled back entirely.
Instead, she’s still showing interest and drive for music, which I hope will keep her up and make her happier and happier, as it’s always been one of her biggest passions.
And if she finally gets to do that freely well, I think it’d be a piece of a happy ending, both for herself and for us 😊❤️✨
I prefer Britney's natural lower range, when she relaxes and forgets to put on the artifical "britney" voice. Always thought she'd make a great Alanis/ Sheryl Crow style album with her natural voice.
Nice to see she's back feeling comfortable enough to sing again though.

Yea her cover of You Oughta Know was amazing and she had a more alternative rockish song at the end of the Femme Fatale album called Don’t Keep Me Waiting that blew my mind cause her voice was so strong in it. So many singers in the industry have amazing parts to their voices we never get to hear. Shania Twain or Eileen rather started out with more Joan Jett and Heart sound before she went country. It’s crazy how these labels craft these artists into a mold to make money.

As a kid, Britney had HUGE vocal potential. Just look up her performance on Star Search. But her record label made her use that baby voice for years and now she kind of has to retrain herself to sing normally.
Even after all these years of being mocked for her vocal fry .. I love that she owns it

I didn´t hear her singing for years so I was quite shocked how deep her voice is now , well she is not 20 anymore. I would not recognise her voice without knowing it was her

Her voice was always deep, they made her do a baby voice! If you see her videos singing as a child you’ll see she always had a deeper voice

Her voice has always been lower. The voice does indeed change but most of Britney's studio vocals where pitched higher. The main reason was that her original voice sounded too much like Christina back in the day.

She could sing Perfume live, is one of her most beautiful songs and is in a lower key, so I think that she can bright on this one.

She always had a lower voice and her lows are incredible, but when she was singing the higher parts it sounded like the usual Baby voice. Her voice when younger was stronger in many parts than Christina Aguilera, even belted higher than young Christina. Britney is naturally a lower voice, her voice shines when in the basement, but needs help climbing the attic...

There are seriously beautiful moments in this recording. Like I am really in love her voice. I love how playful she is and the texture of her voice. I think a vocal coach could really help her fine tune and play on her strengths. I feel like her true confidence is returning as she steps into mid-life and reflects back on the tool she has within her.

oh definitely! (and i say that as someone who works with Xtina and has had the honor of hearing her sing in the same room as myself) Apparently it was her similarity to Aguilera that ended up forcing her to sing differently, her dad wanted her to sound more unique, and likely "younger" so she would be less likely to be compared to Xtina.

I was really hoping you would be able to do this reaction. Britney is my favorite entertainer, but it’s hard to deny that her vocals are a little rough in places. They always have been since she was made to use the baby voice, and they still are now just from disuse I think. Britney has such a beautiful, lush, deep & soulful voice I'm glad it isn't all ruined after years of doing baby voice & forced drug intoxication during the illegal conservatorship, i hope she works with a vocal coach to perfect her voice even further coz her voice always had massive potential & promise
Um she’s bi-polar and still on meds they don’t effect your vocal chords.
If she hadn’t gone into that conservatorship, her boyfriend and others at the time would’ve taken all her money. Seems like she began using drugs, which can bring on mental illness if it runs in the family, and surrounded herself with the wrong people that took advantage of her niceness. I don’t think her father should’ve been in charge of it, but I honestly feel like it saved her life. She totally could’ve kept up with her singing if she wanted to
@@rydbthatsme With all due respect-not only is this idea that Britney has Bi-Polar Disorder something that she only mentioned *one time* *[at least to my knowledge-if you can establish legitimate evidence of other instances, then I am all ears],* which was A: during the ‘Britney-For The Record’ doc and B: after she got put into that nonsense Conservatorship *[there are numerous things to be said about anything that occurred within those 13 years, especially in regards to anything medical or psychology-related; in other words, take anything related to those two areas and that happened during the Conservatorship with a grain of salt],* but there is, furthermore, personal testimony from those not only present during the very beginning of Britney’s dad and the rest involved trying to obtain the Conservatorship, particularly in a permanent or long-term sense, whenever Britney got herself evaluated by professionals not associated with the Conservatorship or Courts, but were also present during this process of evaluation *[as in, there to know the results]* and who have publicly stated that Britney did not receive a Bi-Polar Disorder diagnosis or anything even remotely close to such a diagnosis.
Not to mention that I am pretty fucking sure that Judge Penny, herself, made a statement in court at some point, or perhaps it was released to the press *[that part I don't remember precisely],* that Britney did not have Bi-Polar Disorder.
Now, I would have to go back and dig into all of this once more to be more precise about this particular subject matter. Still, the point is that this situation and sets of circumstances that Britney faced for the past 13 years during her undoubtedly fraudulent and corrupted “Conservatorship,” as a whole, is immensely complicated, complex, and “there is more to this than what meets the eye,” so to speak.
To understand just how utterly convoluted and calculative this was and is, which includes any “diagnosis” that Britney “received” and got medicated for, takes a hell of a lot more than taking things at face value-this “Bi-Polar Disorder diagnosis” is included.
Furthermore, I would love to hear just exactly what makes you think/believe that Britney “still takes Bi-Polar meds,” as you suggested-I’m not being an asshole here, but rather, I'm being very straightforward and to the point.
As far as medications, whether for Bi-Polar, another mental health-related diagnosis, or anything else, affecting someone’s vocal cords and singing in any way is concerned, well, I can't speak for Bi-Polar medications; however, I can say that you would be surprised how many meds will, indeed, affect those things, such as creating more tension, which is only one example.

I can't tell if they're ignorant, cruel, or a combination of both, but it really does break my heart to read some of the comments I see about Britney (and while I've always been a fan, I'm by no means an obsessed "STAN" or whatever the kids call it these days haha). I'm not sure if people think they what know what they're talking about, or if they just literally cannot fathom the concept of the fucked up situation Britney had been in for so many years as being a reality.... But some of the things people say are just completely absurd and/or flat out untrue
