  • GOTEK HAS CHANGED MOST NEW MODELS TO ARTERY HARDWARE INSTEAD OF STM32! THIS VIDEO NOW ONLY APPLIES TO GOTEK DEVICES OLDER THAN SPRING 2021! FLASHFLOPPY WILL STILL WORK WITH NEWER MODELS, BUT NOT LIKE THIS!
    Complete demonstration on how to successfully install FlashFloppy firmware onto a Gotek floppy emulator on both Windows and macOS. Requirements are nothing more than a Gotek, a USB-A to USB-A cable, and the Gotek FlashFloppy EZ Installer v0.50 software bundle linked below.

    Hi Phil, Just a question, I successfully flashed my Gotek emulator. I will be using it in my Roland G-800 synthe keyboard so do I need to install any other programmes into my Gotek for it to work in the keyboard? (any additional firmware or software)? One video on Utube goes through programming the Gotek for use in keyboards rather than Amigas or computers. (Bangers and Chumley-Take the Fear out of the Gear) is what their Utube site is called. I am just not sure if I need to do what they are outlining or if it has already been done in your tutorial?? Thanks!

    We're are trying to use a Miditemp with a Gotek USB Floppy Disk Emulator. Now we have two problems: 1) We can't connect the Gotek in the proper way. We tried all possible solutions and variations with jumpers, flatcable or config files. Miditemp doesn't recognize the Gotek. 2) Even if the Gotek displays the correct number of images of floppy disks on the 4GB USB stick, Miditemp doesn't see the midi files in those images. Not sure what software (Windows 10) to us for making images and putting files in those images. Can anyone help us with (step by step) instructions, software, links or whatever? Thanks.

    Are all goteks relatively the same? I see them at the auction site and they say they're for keyboards or pc or amiga or what-have-you and there are all sorts of different prices, seemingly based on these uses, but I get the impression that other than preprograming (which this negates) they're all the same and one might just get the least expensive one despite whatever use it claims to be for. Is that correct?

    • @cellarseer
      @cellarseer  Před 3 lety

      Roughly, yes. When people sell them for certain devices they are usually the same as far as the actual Gotek, but have specific disk images for the target machine (Amiga, Ensoniq, Atari, etc.), or occasionally have 3D printed enclosure which better fits an odd shaped chassis or floppy bay.
      Your thinking is correct.

      Double check the programming and power links, especially if the Gotek display is lit when connected to the PC over USB. The display will not be lit when it is properly connected during the flashing process.
      The batch file error could be because you ran the Gotek installer multiple times and left one of the instances open. Make sure to close the program each time you run it. I don't think the error should actually present any problems though.

      If you're that advanced of a user then you can certainly edit the batch script, but it's mostly pointless because the firmware can just as easily be updated directly from the USB drive once the initial flashing is done. Upgrading/downgrading takes all of three seconds using that method, so you're probably losing time even thinking about the tricky way, let alone implementing it.

      You're missing a disk image. You need at least one disk image file on the USB drive or else there's nothing to read from/write to. In your case, you need to name the disk image as "DSKA0000.IMG" or "DSKA0000.HFE", depending on if you're using IMGs or HFEs.
      For an embroidery machine, chances are high the disk image will just be a 1.44MB PC type disk. It's also possible that the Gotek will need to be set to S1 jumper instead of S0, so you may have to experiment.

      @@RosalvoParadella Format your USB drive as FAT32/FAT16/MS-DOS FAT. Copy a disk image named DSKA0000.IMG to the USB drive. Copy a proper FF.CFG to the USB drive.
      Which FF.CFG and DSKA0000.IMG you use depends on what device you have. For PSR2000, you'd need an .IMG file which is formatted for standard IBM PC, and likewise you want to use an FF.CFG which is setup for IBM PC.
