The song "Egoist" by Parsley Onuma and featuring Flower is a philosophical song that speaks to the struggles of life and the need to keep pushing forward despite feeling overwhelmed, depressed and anxious. The singer sings of understanding the need for patience, acceptance of inferiority and of how their emotions, pain, and happiness will eventually melt away and be forgotten. Despite this, the singer tells themselves to be impulsive and go fast and farther than anyone else, never giving up and not going back, as they don’t have anything else anyway. The song is a reminder to not give in to despair and to keep going, no matter how rough the road is.
It's about suicide, not quite what I would label a "don't give up" song. However, if you want to add a positive spin to it, by all means. This is not, however, what exactly the song speaks about; I'd argue the opposite. It is much deeper than that and speaks of the true nature of how mental health is treated. The chorus means this:
Become emotional and it's goodbye: Showing venerability in society means you will be shunned and casted away
Become cynical, you'll be correct: Self interest is the "only correct way to live"
You can get past this night better than anyone: Life is referred to as the "night", meaning they are driven to "end the night"
Become impulsive and youll be correct: suicide is often named the "impulsive decision"
I'm not going back, I have nothing else anyways: The singer is going to commit suicide as they believe their life has nothing to offer and has no value
The student is expressing to their teacher, the person they seek advice in, that the words individuals tell them don't seem to hold any weight. The student, on a downward spiral of depression, seeks help. However, they are only told how their life will get better in time by those around them. The singer is tired of waiting years for these promises of "it will all get better" "just stay positive" and to "push through and keep going" when they are not getting the actual help they need to have these promises become reality. This is called "toxic positivity" and can be extremely deadly, dangerous, and lethal in situations where someone is considering suicide. They sing in a bored manner, quoting what they have been told many times before. Compare the singers attitude about quoting "getting better in time" when speaking to the teacher compared to the chorus singing enthusiastically and "relief like" when speaking of his eventual suicide. While it is sad, this song is expressing what many in a suicidal state feel and why they struggle to get help. The words aren't always enough for them. Of course, don't stop being positive and saying good things. Just try and encourage professional help, not make them expect the change with no help.
Songs still a banger tho ngl
@@QuestemI love your interpretation. Many of us have difficulties to express our minds in words. It's so accurately said ❤
This song really have a deep meaning and is rather sad than positive and I would also say that this is about suicide and depression/anxiety as I've had my expirience with it and plenty feelings due to those stages but I as always everyone may have their own interpretations and opinions and the positive ones are also very cool and creative. Many founds it helpfull to hear enthusiastic vibes 😊

*I HAVE NOT FOUND THEM YET*
What is the actual meaning to the song?
@painted paint palette oh ok thank you!
it gives me residential school vibes.
btw i wann mention something i noticed...
at 1:12 flower says "oyasumi" obviously but something about the word oyasumi is interesting. oyasumi does mean good night, but also has a double meaning. oyasumi can also mean "absent (from school, work etc). flower constantly complains to their teacher that they spend most of their days sick, or absent and want to go home. i dont think this holds any secret to the songs meaning but i think its cool wordplay.
Maybe its supposed to be like break after break and his parents welcome him home or he says/the character says hes home
that's pretty cool, I've never thought of it like that
I think the goodnight means death and the welcome home means they're welcoming death home
i can't hear oyasumi without thinking about omori
I Also noticed this at 0:57, when flower says
"You dyed orange, will melt into darkness before long."
(ik some people might know this already) but every Happy memories that flower has will always go back to "darkness"
And the "dyed orange" part might mean that his friends has had Good memories with him, but since he said "dyed" that must've mean that after their "good memories" with him was over, they just started to suddenly ignore him or bully him for some reason
(ik this is far fetched but i can't stop thinking about this theory i made at 3 am)
when u r happy u enjoy the music
when u r sad u understand the lyrics
Agreed
A wise man once said,
“I’m 14 and this is deep”
Yes..
True...
Can you shut up and hate that phrase so bad
People are doing random annotations here so I had afew thoughts.
1. When it mentions "falling ill" it might not only mean physically, but also mentally.
2. Alot of the time, when someone is depressed or suicidal, the people around them say somthing along the lines of: "it will get better. You just have wait." Which could be the reason why the lyrics state:
*"I understand that patience is important in life. Won't you realise it, teacher. I usually spend my days falling ill. Let me go home early. tecaher!"*
3. This might be abit of a stretch but sentence: "let me go home early" might mean like: let me die early. ("Early" meaning cutting their life short by killing themselves)
I just found that this song could have multiple meanings interesting.
For those who don't understand, I will explain, kind of like psychologists and psychiatrists are called sensei, and the person who sings the song says how much life no longer has meaning(su1c1d3,) because in Japan they They force a lot to go to school, and the person who is singing is saying how difficult life is and that she wants to go back home because if she goes back nothing will change
Sensei also means teacher.

@@mythicalforest_ Yup!
just so ya know - the artist of egoist is onuma paseri, im pretty sure. the vocal is v flower, the vocaloid.
For me the song is about a person that is very frustrated and sick from school because of the academic expectations and/ or being bullied, getting them feeling tired and having suicidal or depressing thoughts, because of this the person became failing classes or even skipping them. So the "sensei" (that could be a professor or a school counselor) talks with them and they tell the sensei how this person feels, expressing the need for a break from school, wanting to return home early and asking the sensei to get permission. Either way, the sensei don't give the person permission and try to give them "advice" about life and moving forward. The person gets tired of sharing their feelings just to be ignored or belittled so decides to act impulsive and escape from school and even their house (this being out of self-destructive thoughts and wanting to escape the reality) but thinking it is okay because at least, they aren't in school.
That's my interpretation.
please correctly credit the artist 😭😭😭 flower is the vocaloid, vocaloids can't compose music 😭😭😭 please please please properly credit onuma parsley 😭😭😭

Fun fact : flower uses the word kimi which is a friendly term for you (basically the Japanese equivalent of buddy) this says that the flower is close to the person he is talking to when he is not talking about the professor. Fun fact 2: Japanese people go to school six days a week and that’s not counting Sunday school. They go to school on Saturday.

Ah I think the song is about a high school student that went to too much stress from failing tests and being held by back my Proffesor/Sensai that when they finnaly got home one they they were so fed up they killed themselves
Sensei*
And I would say that this is not about student but about a child - used as a student- and about someone/anyone like a profesor- someone that a student must obey. Must listen, follow rules and be good to. It is also someone who claims you can tell him his problems if you have any (ha worst person even to do that) it is someone with authorytet, you look up to because you are stupid shit - student to him. But in the song it is said that he have a bond with the teacher that it is uneasy to explain nor specify. Because he hate him for some reason and time he was made to spend with him. I would say that he in a sarcastic way asks him in the song 'have you noticed? that I was falling ill- changing behaviour/ falling mentally. And ''let me withdraw from school''- let me go, let me run away from you and this place

as a japanese i can feel her suffer and getting bullied oyasumi has a double meaning it can be goodbye and it can be absent so i thinkflower needs to go home and rest
Omg thanks I've been trying to find the Japanese one!
I USED TO LOVE THIS SONG YEARS AGOOO
I like this song but I always wonder what language it is.
the Japanese translation does not say the thing what the song says
I think this is the generalised version like how Jubyphonic does it. It's not direct, but it means along the same lines.
Not all languages have a direct translation even Spanish is translated differently and it doesn’t translate the same so yes it does look different
SPANISH OR VANISH🐥🔫
The reason they do that is because most english covers will sound weird if they use the direct translation. This translation is probably one where you could sing it without the rhythm getting messed up
When he say « good night, welcome home » i think that mean his dream is his home , idk if you understand
Bro this song made me so sad when i herd it i couldn't get it out my head
i love this song ❤❤❤
This feels like a very Hanako song. It fits his character very well, especially when he was still alive.

I know. You are not alone. Have you tried watching anime? It kinda help. You can be entertained by it. Relating to something may mean a lot. Also it have many amaizing quots from witch you can learn a lot. It can part of healing proces you know?
I would like to introduce you few anime:
1 BSD - Bungou Stray Dogs
It is a lot about mental ilnesses like mostly depression. It have great characters development and a great design of them. Don't get too distract by 'ability users ' 'silly acts of characters, puns and jokes' because the show is very intertaining, have plenty of action and is not affraid of showing emotions, blood, pain, dieing and stuff. I recomend highly especially that the 5 season is being animated right now ❤
2 JJK - Jujutsu Kaisen
Have two seasons, great animation. It is said that there is no bad episode. it is fun to watch. Have great animation and one of the best background characters.
3 Naruto - very long anime 500 episode with Naruto Shippuden haveing another 500+ episodes😢 but you can learn a lot from it as 'never give up'
'it's never too late to choose the right path'
'hard work beats talnet/ pays of'
'never seek revange on others'
'weakness is a choice'
'the saddest ones have the brightes smiles as they don't want anyone to feel the way they feel'
4 Death note
5 Demon slayer
6 Attac on Titans
7 One pice is always worth to watch.
Belive me you can sink in the envairment easly. Recomend. It helped me a lot. I try to survive because I can't help myself anymore. Dealing with this shit alone is all about survive. Of course if you failed to reach for help from others. This is first you should do - tell parents. One time is enough because it depends on their reaction. If they give you help you need, you won. But if they do nothing they will do nothing the next time you ask for help too.
Being free - beautifull thing 😢
You really should try reaching for help or at least help yourself survive until you are 18 so you can help yourself by setting appointment to psychologist.
It often don't go away with time and I'm a living example of this. 2 years of suffering and it only is getting worse 😂. It won't go away. It won't stop. The voices are getting louder, the thoughts are not leaving my mind for a second. You have to keep yourself busy- school/work/art or music to just listen to it instead of to your thoughts. Try doing anything you belive you like or relaxes you. Anything and as long as you can. Get distract. If you understand what I mean - I hope you don't relate to it 100% 😅 - please try getting help and do not try 'sh' or 'kms' - there is always other option. Try doing everything you ever wanted. Have no regrets if you are going to do it.
Born to: sing my heart out to this song.

What is this song about? My friend said it was about suicide or something.
It's about a student telling his teacher about how bad their life is and how the student feel comfortable around that teacher I guess I'm not that sure

I don't understand this sentence, someone pls explain to me!😞
It may mean that he is about to faint and he have those conduction hallucinations, spots before the eyes or colorful colors.
"You, dyed orange" - he is looking at his teacher near the window with sundown behind that fleshes on him orange light and as the boy is about to faint his vision goes blurry - he sees him in orange colors (In my opinion it is)
''...will melt into the darkness before long (/very soon)'' he will close his eyes/ faint/ pass out soon and everything will turn black
It can also be just without a particular reason.
Those hallucinations. Also I will say that it can be caused from starvation or exastion or pills (caused by anxiety for example) or he can also be going mad/crazie from stuff he can't handle anymore and this can be put theoretically for the songs sake

Lifeless like me 😂 I love japanese songs because they are meant to be cold and mechanical. Due to terribly sad and deep lyrics and high pitched voices singing it (usually also being glitchy) has it's own style that you must just like. I think both versions are great but if I were to choose I like this one better ❤
