In this video, you'll discover how to produce amazing-sounding electronic music with my proven 3-step framework for better arrangements. My name is Philip from Pick Yourself, and I've created this channel to help electronic music producers like you make meaningful progress with their music.
Most electronic music produced by amateurs suffers from one big problem: the songs are muddy and overprocessed because the producers kept stacking layer upon layer on top of the loop they started with.
In this video, I will show you 3 steps to get an arrangement quicker and tell a sonic story that truly pulls the listener in and keeps them engaged.
We’ll dive into techniques that will enhance your tracks whether you're using Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Logic Pro, or any other DAW. Whether you're into Techno, House, or EDM, you'll know exactly how to go from original loop to full arrangement in just a few minutes.
At the end of this video, I'm sharing an insanely powerful yet simple technique to get more out of the sounds you already have in your session. This tip alone can make a massive difference in your production process and the quality of your final track.

I found "The Two Loop Rule"" from Alex Rome also a very nice and simple way to keep the arrangement going. Thanks for sharing your tips.

One method I do sometimes (when i’m super inspired) is place markers in the FL playlist, then build it from the intro to the ending.

Freaky. This is literally exactly what I needed at the exact moment I needed it. I'm so close to finishing a track that just lacks that something and I think you nailed it. Thanks brother. I'll remember you when I'm famous 😂 much love from South Africa.

Thanks for this, i recently started applying this of my own accord and this is nice reassurance after applying too many elements in earlier tracks!

Another awesome video. Keep them coming as you truly add a lot of value. The freeze reverb technique of foreshadowing I will 100% be including along with automatic of attack. I also love automation of the release from the main lead line, increasing to a “wash”. Using the frozen reverb here would be cool too. Thanks!!

Great stuff as always, especially since this resonates perfectly with how I am creating my latest track. Lesser elements that gets manipulated and modified instead of just adding, and looking for more stuff.
I got in to just that issue with a recent track, where I got frustrated for not finding what was missing, which made me think about this way instead.

This helped me too. I'm an amateur musician, but I've been making electronic music of some sort for more than 2 decades, and I actually didn't know about this technique. I feel kinda dumb, as it seems like it should be rudimentary knowledge, but hey, we can't know everything, I guess, right?

Less is more 🎉 some of my newer atmospheric jungle tracks are around 7/10 total stems and everything has its place! I like to start with my core foundations for whatever genre I’m working in, for jungle stuff it’s the Drums, Bass, and pads. If I can arrange the entire song beginning to end just with these 3 elements and some extra percussion, it gives me a great canvas to noodle around with ear candy rather than praying I’m going to find “the right” thing to add to the track. Every genre is gonna be different though, and knowing the arrangement structure most of your references in the same genre follow is a huge shortcut

@@pickyourselfofficiali think it helped that I picked genres that can be more simple in nature too 😅😊 yet people can make oldschool electronic music as simple or complex as you want it to be! The sound selection and rhythmic composition I think for me plays a huge role in nailing the vibes. 😀

Nice Video👍 .... reverse, transpose, filter, delay, lfo, etc are my #1-creative-tools:)...I`ll definitely try the tip with the Attack-Time ;)
If someone stuck at the DnB arrangement, here the classic, boring one:
    Intro: 8-32 Bars
    Section 1: 16 Bars + 16 Bars
    Bridge: 16-32 Bars
    Section 2: 16 Bars + 16 Bars
    Outro: 8-32 Bars
    ;P

Thanks man, foreshadowing is a nice technique! :) BTW: you automated the gain with the mixer. It's more comfortable to do it with an utility, as you can mix it all afterwards without killing the gain automation.

Ya Im always fighting the "add" feeling when im used to the project / and it really is finished. What ive learned i need to do is focus on VERSE/ as Blocks... Focus on Groove.... Mute-Solo, try out different combinations. Once thats done all you really have to do is switch to 'Transition mode' between these "Blocks" ....so much more obviously but i would be hear writing a booklet in your comments haha. Its really an interesting study though, all this music making stuff

I try to use loops repeated over and over creating a hypnotic style where the nuance is based on delays and say phaser. I am not interested in big room drops, or making pop. I am interested how music can subtly change and music for the dervishes. Also how to run things at completely different speeds to create energetic syncopation. I make music for me.

    • @pickyourselfofficial
      @pickyourselfofficial  Před měsícem +1

Love the more hypnotic shades of techno and agree with everything you said. It’s actually a really good idea for another video, how to make loops stay interesting without big breaks, buildups and drops. So thank you! Keep doing your thing :)
