There are personal threads in the script in this fairy tale. Actor Olaf Lubaszenko (Bardacha) disappeared from the screens for several years. He suffered from severe depression and gained over 50 kilograms. This is his first role since returning to the screen. That's why he says, I'm going back to service.

When basilisk was stoned, Boguś actually used phrase meaning "he got bricked up" which in polish mean he is lost for words.
When Bardacha rammed basilisk with his Polonez Caro - which is sorta old classic nowadays - he yelled "Na pohybel skurwysynu" which for me is clear reference to Witcher series. Geralt at one point got a sword named Sihill from dwarf mercenary called Zoltan Chivay.
When Zoltan displayed sword to Geralt and Jaskier, he said that there is mighty ancient spell written on the blade with ancient dwarven runes. And after some suspense built up he said that runes say:
    "Down with the motherfuckers!"
All the thunders and lightnings, in visions and those that killed fishes, probably refers to Perun - he's sorta like slavic zeus/thor.
And yes, at the end those were devils,Boruta on the phone, and Rokita which you saw in Twardowsky.
I think you should also look into "Mój jest ten kawałek podłogi" Cover. Matheo & Andrzej Donarski. Because Bardacha- guy who told ex-wife Baśka to kiss his ass, at the end and got back into police, is hero of the music video

I think that the head of basilisk is also based on a monster from the Witcher's Universum called 'Leszy' in Polish version, whose head is similar to a skull of deer or something like that. This creature in slavic mithology was kind of spirit of the forest.
The soundtrack in some dangerous moments are also very similar to the analogous in the Witcher video game. Basilisks are there too, but thier look differently.

Yes, Boruta is the main devil, Rokita being his Second in Command, and that hole in the earth is leading to Hell itself. It was destroyed by Twardowsky's meddling in the Hell security systems, as seen in Twardowsky's movie.
Boguś (or Bogusław, Boguś is a short) Kołodziej is a reference to the Piast dynasty; the first known rulers of Poland. Piast Kołodziej (Latin: Past Ckosisconis, Pazt filius Chosisconisu) is the legendary progenitor of the Piast dynasty.
The rune on Boguś's hand is Thurisaz (the Durisaz rune); it was used to ward off malevolent beings and to provide protection to the wearer of the rune
The thurisaz rune symbolizes protection and strength. The word “thurisaz” comes from the Old Norse word meaning “thorn,” and the rune is said to represent the power of Thor, the Norse god of thunder.
    Edit:
For me, the Basilisk's face looks like the masks used by the "Plague Doctors" (bubonic plague in Europe).

Exactly. It is a continuation of Twardowski 2.0. When Twardowski destroyed servers he released a lot of monsters and creatures (including Basilisk). We saw that the soldiers are experts they have a lot of equipment prepared for everything but they didn't know which creature was here. That was the reason that they were killed by a basilisk not because they were dumb.

In Polish fairy tales, there was a devil named Boruta. He lived in castles. The second devil in fairy tales was Rokita, he lived in villages, usually in an old willow by the roads. It was the devil who was in charge of tempting the people of the village. In the legends, the devil Boruta was a devil of a higher category and Rokita a lower category.😃

If it was the Witcher universe, Boguś's way of using the mirror would be correct haha, there is a dialogue between Geralt and a guy who hired him to kill a cockatrice that goes something like this (Im translating myself, because I only know the original polish text):
"- Basilisk? Cockatrice? What's the difference?
    - One is a reptile and the other's a ornitoreptile
    - What?
    - Something that's not really a bird nor a reptile
    - So which one turns you into stone?
    - Neither, it's a myth.
    - But which one of them can be defeated with a mirror?
    - Both. If you hit them in the head with it really hard."

  • @Diveyl
    @Diveyl Před 11 měsíci +23

This is a series, all connected.
In previous film, Twardowski 2.0, the titular character has hacked the Hell server and busted all security. That crated/underground is uper part of hell, and the roof of it has blown up.
Boruta was that idiot with login 123Boruta and password Boruta123.
Rokita was showing Boruta how the system works, and he was calling Boruta at the end of the film, just like in this one.
Music videos of the song used in the series tell the stories of characters included in the series.
Mój jest ten kawałek podłogi is about Bardacha
Aleja gwiazd is about how Lucy become the demoness.
Kocham wolność is about Rokita and Mary (introduced in Yaga)
Jaskółka uwięziona is about imprisoned Yaga
It is all connected, a big one story.
Prior to films, a bit over two years before first Twardowski film, the main character, Jan Twardowski, signed cyrograf (hellish contract). He gained knowledge, fame and fortune and in return hell will harvest his soul. But Twardowski has run to the moon before the end of the contract, hence the devils couldn't find him on earth.
At the start of the second film Twardowski put his plan in motion, he stopped hiding, traped the demoness "Lucy", hijacked her ship and run from the moon and earth.
In the second film "Lucy" jumped from the moon to earth, literally, and has fallen on the field, blowing up a tractor during landing. She and Boruta watched and then called Twardowski via hellish video conference, during which the fool Boruta showed his login and password to Hell Server to Twardowski. With the access to the server Twardowski devised a plan to fuel the ship by committing suicide, and by setting a subroutine that stated that if his soul would go to hell it should be returned to the body at once, he cheated death and was resurrected. His ship was powered and while he fly away the material from Saturn rings destroyed "Lucy"'s craft. But Teardowski also left a virus that activated after his soul was returned to his body. That virus messed up the system by deleting all files and wrecking havock on security of the hellish prison, and the inhabitants of most cells has escaped. And also Lucy managed to hitchhike the ride on the roof of Twardowski's (her old) ship, before he started to fly to the edge of the solar system.
Now in this film we see and hear about effects of the Hell system getting screwed. An explosion occured, energy released in that event killed fish in the lake and made hailstorms all over the country. Basilisk was set free and stoned people, that went to check the whole in the hell ceiling, and officer Kołodziej saved the day, by pure luck and supposed genes of his great ancestor, Piast Kołodziej, that was the legendary protoplast of first dynasty of Polish Kings.
The last scene was about Rokita visiting the place, ordering the sealing of the area, and calling Boruta to the site.
A bit of a spoiler, but not much, in the first scene of Yaga we will se Rokita showing Boruta the damage that Twardowski has done, and reporting about the current situation with repairing the facility and recapture of the inmates.

19:21 Although the translations for this series are pretty damn good, here's an example of a cultural reference lost in translation: he called the basilisk "four-feeter" which is a reference to a classic short video of the Polish part of CZcams where a guy in a rowboat encounters a small crocodile or alligator. The whole humor of that video is that the guy in the boat is clearly a person who lived for some time in the States and mixes up a lot of Polish and English words and is recording the animal for his brother-in-law. Edit: I think that the whole issue with the Iron Fist not taking the mirrors to the actual pit was that those were probably some scientists of the group, not their military troops. Just like in the other movies, instead of dealing with the problem with force, we have a bunch of scientists who want to study the extraterrestrial or unnatural phenomenon OR a bunch of businessmen who want to make money on it and catch it alive.

Now that you know that the main hero is a policeman, here's one interesting fact: the guys are driving FSO Polonez, one of the oldest versions thereof. There is an old Polish TV series called "07 zgłoś się" (English: "Calling 0-7") about a militia officer, Borewicz. He was also driving such (or even older) version of FSO Polonez. These two models (the one in "Balisisk" and "Calling 0-7") are commonly referred to as "Borewicz".
One more: the bushes with yellow flowers that grow in the background during the "lady stuck in the sand" scene is called "żarnowiec". Żarnowiec is the location of the first Polish nuclear plant that was not finished.
The easter eggs about Twardowsky nameplates are scattered all over the "Legendy Allegro" series. You need to rewatch all of the movies, now not focusing on the main topic.

With how the Basilisk is portrayed in the legend specifically: This speciman was rumored to have lived in a cellar/basement of a Warsaw old town's building, you can see and visit the exact location. IMPORTANT- The basilisk doesn't turn the people who look at it into stone, it turns the ones IT looks upon into stone - that's why the legend involved mirrors, as the creature saw itself in the mirror and turned itself to stone
Also, in that Polish Warsaw legend, the way the Basilisk is defeated is they make a deal with a prisoner, they hang him up with mirrors and order him to go down to the basement and if he comes out alive with the basilisk dead he can have his freedom back... So yeah, the mirrors are WAY more important in this context than anything else. The basilisk turned itself to stone and it's still there, or so they say

It is the only representative of the subclass, which scientist call Ornithoreptilia and after long disputes they came to the conclusion that…”
“And which of the two,” Reynart de Bois-Fresnes interrupted, apparently without interest of the discussions of scientists, “can kill or turn a man to stone with a glance?”
    “None. Those are stories.”
“Then why are people so afraid? This thing here isn’t so large. Can it be so dangerous?”
“This thing here,” Geralt shook the dead monster, “usually attacks from behind and without error goes perfectly between the vertebrae or the aorta or under the left kidney. Usually all it takes is a single thrust of its beak. With regards to the basilisk, it will kill you no matter where it bites; it has the strongest know poison which is a neurotoxin that kills within a few moments.”
“Brrr… Tell me, which one can you kill with a mirror?”
“All of them. If you slam it hard enough in the head with the mirror.”

No, they are not idiots. And they do not known what they are going against. Yea, they have mirrors. They also had several crates of other eq. They just took half of the warehouse with them, to be prepeared for all cases. Just not take all of it down for the first reconesance.
During the fight, there is a lot of easter-egs to the witcher series. In the witcher there are two monsters, bazyliszek and kuroliszek, both symilar to basylisk - neither of them have a power to turn people into stone, but folk tales about them are exactly like in out world. And there is a old witcher joke that you can kill both of them with a mirror - by hittimg them in the head hard enough.
"Na pohybel skurwysynom" ("down with the motherfuckers") is also from Witcher, presented (by in-book character) as ancient dwarven combat enchantment.
Also the pose Boguś make why showing the phone to the monster is very symilar to pose Geralt made when using Igni sign, like in the trailer in witch he... fight the basilisk

"Żelazna góra" millitary is kind of SCP Foundation squad.
Think about that: What if Basilisek is not a beast but legendary slavic creature, rather puppy with curse of deadly eyes. It wants only make friend. Notice it just defending itself after escaping from hell prison. Boruta jails not only bad peoples, but also old pre-christian creatures, and gods. I don't want to spoiler to much but think about it watching Jaga.

these storms/lightnings and the basilisk on the loose are the result of the fall of the hell system in twardowski 2.0 at the end of the episode they say that the basilisk escaped. the basilisk is one of the slavic beasts that escaped from prison/hell so is Baba Jaga in the one you want to watch next ;P
I don't remember exactly, I checked it when I watched the basilisk for the first time.
this sign on the hand is the Old Slavic rune "Anger", on the body it was painted by those going into battle or fighting evil. Kind of magic/occultism thingi.
in Polish legends, the basilisk speaks with the voice of a child and has more in common with chickens than with snakes

In Slavic beliefs, the basilisk is closer to a rooster than to a snake. It was well rendered in the film. Close to Slavic beliefs.
Although some gods resemble and have counterparts in Greek mythology, there are others. Slavic gods in my opinion are more balanced. There is no king. Slavic Perun, who is the equivalent of Zeus, is not the king of the gods. There is no unequivocal evil or good. Although the Slavic pantheon of gods is less known and less documented, it does not mean that it is poorer.
P.S. Lucynka appears in Twardowski. This is a reference to Lucifer. The fallen light bearer. Which is associated with the morning star, i.e. the planet Venus. And Lucifer is associated with lust.
