My grandpa used to walk more than one hour on dirt roads to get to school. So that is partually true. About that English part though, my grandparents learnt Russian in school instead. English only became a important subject in China with my parents' generation. And about stabbing the rubber with a pencil, yeah I did that when I was 10 so I laughed at that really hard

As an Asian, I have experienced waking up at 4AM, walking 3km to the bus stop only to get to school by 7AM. It was a character building experience.
Well I woke up at 8AM and had to walk 50km to NASA because our school was in space, I had to build the spaceship myself and was so fast I got to school by 6AM because my great grandad invented time.
And you still have to push the bus

My school had detention, though they called it something else. It was literally in the basement.
My high school handed out detention pretty liberally to the point that every time you didn't attend it doubled.
Since I rarely attended detention or stayed the full time I must have racked up thousands of hours. It was a dumb system, You would get detention for being late to class, because you were in detention.. because it was illegal in Australia to deprive students of recess and lunch breaks, not that it stopped teachers from trying.

There used to be a Native American tribe in Michigan called the Mascouten whom other neighboring tribes literally called the Fire Nation. They kind of sucked at their job, though. As a southeast asian (filipino), I can confirm this is how my parents walked to school except my mother's school was from another island and she had to ride a small boat and battle different legendary giant sea monsters from different asian regions 3 times every morning and catch seafood for her lunch while she's at it and when she arrives on land she still has to climb a mountain and fight different jungle beasts before she could reach her school.🤯

Couldn't agree more. As an Asian (Indonesian), my grandparent used to climb a volcano mountain, cross the river of crocodiles, swim into a magma lake and carry a bag of impossibly heavenly expectations from their parent just to get to school. While my great grandparent said "Nah it's nothing, when we get to school we used to be trained water bending to fight against colonialism"
