  • Recently I made multiple videos about my old Sony A5000 and during that process I've been using my old camera more.
    Although my Sony A6400 is a better camera in every single way, the little A5000 is an interesting camera even now.
    With its low cost and light weight body the best lenses for this camera in my opinion are the low cost and lightweight lenses. Lets go see which lenses fit the A5000 best.

    I sold my a6000s with the primes I had added to the kit. Traded off my A7RII recently. Sticking with DSLR for full frame and APS-C. I kept the a5000 (love this little camera) with the two kit lenses and the Rokinon 12mm manual focus. A handy little kit that fits in a small bag. Or use just the 16-55 which is quite compact when collapsed and stuff the a5000 in a pocket.

      The three lenses you mentioned + A5000 makes a very portable kit! Although the ZV-E10 is similar size, but much more expensive. So the A5000 is still a great camera even in 2022! 👍👍

      Thank you! A5000 are part of the Sont APS-C camera family and in terms of use and interface, not a lot has changed over the years...so you can look at any Sony APS-C camera guide videos (eg. A6000, A6400, A6600, etc) and they should all be helpful! 👍👍

      For the A5000,
      Near objects or Macro - Sony 30mm F3.5 Macro (SEL30M35)
      Far objects - Sony 55-210 included in this video
      Although if you just want a all-in-one lens, the kit lens 16-50mm or the Sony 18-105mm are great options! 👍👍

      No problem, out of three I would say the Rokinon because it's F2. But if you could stretch the budget to $400 the Sigma 16mm F1.4 would be the pick! 👍👍

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před 3 lety

      Hi, I'm happy you found it helpful! for the A5000, I would pick the Sony 30mm F3.5 Macro ($250) just because the best macro lens is 6x the cost of the A5000 (Sony FE 90mm F2.8 = $1000+). Wouldn't make sense to put a $1000 lens on the A5000 in my opinion 👍👍

    is there anything you can recommend for shooting music videos with skits or even “short film” aspects to them that may contain landscapes in backgrounds but also switch to close ups on the subject/person

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před rokem

      Sounds like you need to go from wide to portrait, then a F2.8 zoom lens like the Sigma 18-50 ($550) or the Tamron 17-70 ($800) might be good, but both are pretty costly. If you don't need the background blur, using the kit lens alone would be a much cheaper way. Adding the 50mm f1.8 OSS if the budget allows should get you the bokeh! 👍👍

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před 3 lety

      It depends on what you prefer, but if I had to pick one lens for reaction videos I would choose the Sigma 30mm F1.4 - standard angle + low aperture + great image quality! 👍👍

    Thank you! If I wanted to attach this camera to a teleprompter, would I need a step up ring? I bought a teleprompter with different adapters, but they don’t fit the camera lens. In other words, there’s no way to screw the adaptors that came with the teleprompter onto the camera lens.

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před 2 lety +1

      I personally am not too familiar with attaching teleprompters as I don't use one, but I would think you'd need another adapter that will fit to your lens 👍👍

  • @diostaylow

    hey man its me again, hehe, got question about the rokinon 12mm on an a5000, does it have a bokeh effect background if your shooting it with a close subject? i apologize for the amateur
    question hehe

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi again, bokeh is dependent on the distance between the lens and the subject + distance between the subject and the background. Closer the lens is to the subject + further away the subject is from the background = most bokeh.
      So you will have a nice bokeh going with the rokinom 12mm at F2 on an a5000 as long as you stick to those two rules 👍👍

      I tried with the A5000 and it does connect via WIFI to the Imaging Edge app, but basically only to transfer photos. Couldn't really do any zoom or focus unfortunately. Sony does list A5000 as a camera NOT capable of doing manual focus with it. 👍👍

    what are kit lenses?

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp  Před rokem

      Kit lenses are lenses that are usually bundled with the camera body. For example, when Sony sold the A5000, it sold 2 variations - 1. A5000 with the kit lens (16-50mm or 55-210mm or both) 2. A5000 body alone.
      So the 16-50 and the 55-210 are considered "kit" lenses! 👍👍
