DJI Pocket 2: 1 Year Later
It's been awhile! I've been using my DJI Pocket 2 for the last year or so, and it has really replaced my DJI Osmo Pocket as my go to pocket camera.
It has a bigger sensor, wider lens, and more microphone which makes it a great upgrade to the original Osmo Pocket.
In this video I talk about some pros/cons, who I think the camera is for, and what I think should be included for the next DJI Pocket 3. Let's find out!

Do You Need A New Phone?
zhlédnutí 281Před 3 lety
Every year, a new iPhone or a new galaxy is released and you’re tempted to get a new phone. In Canada, the typical contract term is 2 years, so I’ve always gotten a new phone every 2 years. But with phones becoming so highly spec’d, is it necessary to replace a 2 year old phone that can still run CZcams, Chrome, Facebook, and Instagram without any issues? Let’s go see if numbers can be trusted....
DJI Osmo Pocket vs. DJI Pocket 2: Old vs. New

I’ve compared the original DJI osmo pocket to the new DJI pocket 2 in terms of color, stabilization, audio, and FOV. The Osmo Pocket has been my most used camera in the last 2 years, but I am using the pocket 2 more and more. So it’s now time to do an overall comparison of these two gimbal cameras. Right now, the osmo pocket is on promotion for $199, which is $150 cheaper than the pocket 2 at $...

Even when it was overcooked, the ribs still tasted great - they were just better when we tested them at 30 min - 1 hour. Lesson learne...
DJI Osmo Pocket vs. DJI Pocket 2: Colors + Stabilization

Hello world, double thumbs here. So previously I compared the Osmo Pocket and the Pocket 2 in 2 big aspects: 1) FOV/Audio, and 2) Lowlight videos. Now we’re moving onto the last subject before the overall comparison and it is the colors and stabilization! Both cameras produce respectable image quality for such a small camera, and the mechanical stabilization provided by the gimbal is my persona...
Starter Home vs. Forever Home - If numbers can be trusted Ep. 1

So my girlfriend and I are currently on a search for our first home purchase, and we found many houses that we liked throughout the 6 months or so that we’ve been looking. The prices of these homes varied quite a bit - on one end we looked at some homes in the $350-400k range which we would consider a ‘starter’ home (1500-1800 sqft, 3 bdrm, double garage), and on the other end we’ve looked at s...
DJI Osmo Pocket vs DJI Pocket 2: Lowlight Comparison

So I finally bought the DJI pocket 2 after contemplating it for a while, because I already have the dji osmo pocket. For me, one of the 2 big factors in buying the 2nd generation was the bigger sensor. DJI Osmo Pocket vs. DJI Pocket 2: FOV + Audio

    I like the 18-105 and 16mm combo! However, I don't know if I should get the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 instead of the 18-105 just because it's much smaller and lighter. On the other hand, I would miss out on the longer focal range of the Sony 18-105... tough decision.

      Thanks! I find that the biggest difference between the two cameras is the field of view. Otherwise, it's very similar. The color on the pocket 2 might've been because of the LUT I was using (which was meant for the original pocket). I just use 'normal' color for everything nowadays to not worry about color grading at all, and I find the two cameras' colors are similar! 👍👍

    Great video and a very reasonable recommendation 👌Quick refresher in the middle of 2023. Just got the Sony 18-105 OSS as the main lens for outdoor handheld video with A6400. Already have the brilliant Sigmas 16mm + 56mm. Those two are almost perfect for photos but no OSS/IBIS is really tough for video without a gimbal, and who wants to carry a gimbal everywhere? 🙃 I was strongly considering Tamron 17-70 F 2.8 but went through many tests and opinions. The Tamron lens seems to be fantastic for photos, nearly Sigma primes sharp, but clearly inferior to Sony in terms of handheld video stabilization. With lower focal range and higher price + lower build quality on top of that, for video needs, the Sony 18-105 OSS is probably still the way to go. And available brand new for about 400$.

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp Před 11 měsíci

      You're right, or at least personally I am not a big fan of carrying a gimbal as a non-professional 😁. So the 18-105's great OSS is great, although the F4 on an APS-C sensor isn't the brightest and its 'bokeh' isn't great if you're used to seeing the results on the F1.4 lenses. Like you mentioned, it's relatively cheap, has most likely the best OSS out of all E-mount lenses, and can go from 27.5 - 157.5 mm. It definitely remains as the most versatile lens I use! I am surprised to hear that Tamron wasn't as stable - from my quick research when it first came out, I thought its stabilization was comparable to the Sony, just at a higher price point! Good to know! 👍👍

      Sounds like you need to go from wide to portrait, then a F2.8 zoom lens like the Sigma 18-50 ($550) or the Tamron 17-70 ($800) might be good, but both are pretty costly. Nice comparison. The 18-105 is on my ZV-e10 most of the time, 60/40 with the sigma 18-50 f2.8, then the telephoto 70-350 (I love that lens so much!). I have mounted the small rig wooden L bracket to improve the grip on the camera. Still just a touch front heavy with the bigger lenses, but now it’s a great fit. The 18-105 provides so much more flexibility than the kit lens like you just showed with the wider focal range. Constant aperture, better stabilisation and power zoom makes it a very nice easy to use video lens, especially handheld. And the image quality is noticeably much better than the kit. I would say it’s a toss up between getting the sigma 18-50 or the 18-105 or 18-135 as an upgrade to the kit. low light, compactness, best IQ -> get the sigma more video, handheld walk about, no lens swapping on the go -> get the 18-105 more photo, compactness, no lens swapping on the go -> get the 18-135

      That makes sense, I agree 100% The 18-105 is the best video lens with its superior lens stabilization. The newer Sigma 18-50 is more compact and brighter than the 18-105, so if you mainly do photos or videos on a tripod and don't need the extra reach, it makes more sense. Afterwards, you can sync the audio file to the video/audio file by either through your video editing software or manually by matching the two audio files. Nice knowing that it has a much better stabilization from a kit lens. I found one used for roughly $280 that was selling locally so am currently saving up for that! ^^

      I would say it has the best lens stabilization out of the APS-C lenses! $280 is a great price for the 18-105, nice find! 👍👍

      It really is a dilemma. I really prefer the image quality of the Sigma, but it's personally too shaky if it's handheld. So Sigma 16mm for the sit down/tripod videos, and Sony 18-105mm for any handheld/moving videos! 👍👍

    Will the Rokinon work for dancing/sports video purposes on a tripod or will the lack of auto focus mess it up?

    • @DoubleThumbsUp

    I was totally going to sell my Rokinon and Pick up this lens (as I love my Sigma 30mm 1.4). I hate collecting lenses and like having a max of 3 lenses at any one time. However Sigma recently released their 18-50mm F2.8 compact zoom which has great quality (maybe 80% of the primes). This makes my choice much easier, keep the 30mm F1.4 since I find it the best versatile walk around/indoor lens, the Rokinon 12mm (maybe swap for Autofocus) for Stars, Landscapes, creatives, and the Sigma for the walk around. Cannot justify the 16mm F 1.4 when I now can have an 18mm F 2.8. If you use your camera for video at night then I can see the advantage of 16mm F1.4 but I am strictly a photographer. Plus if I needed video I'm fine with graining at higher ISO. Thoughts? I'm about to have a baby and am wondering if a fast tele (or even 56mm F1.4) is usefull. I used to use the Sony 18-135mm zoom for travel but never really liked the photos in many of the shots and was forced to really push in lightroom. Sigma always looked good. Any suggestions?

    • @DoubleThumbsUp
      @DoubleThumbsUp Před 2 lety

      Sounds like you have a plan! I think it depends on what you value more, the ultra wide angle of the Rokinon or the bright aperture of the Sigma 16. As you mentioned another option would be to do the Sigma 18-50mm and the Rokinon 12mm. The 18-50 can replace the Sigma trios in 90% of the situations so that would be an option too! 👍👍

    Just in case anyone wants an all around kit then: A) For photography and occasional video: 18-135 kit lens + 55-210 kit lens + Sigma 16mm B) For video and occasional photography: The same but go for the G type lenses from sony. Their zoom happens inside the body which is good for gimball use and the G lenses have a bit better video image quality. If you do not care that much about getting the best out of your lens (or you don't want to bust your wallet) then the kit lenses withtout the G are just fine. Check out some comparison videos and you'll see what I mean 🙂
