    I just had a JDM swap done on my vehicle and the mechanic told me he'd have to "figure out a way" to account for the fact that the engine didn't have the crank shaft sensor, and that he wouldn't be able to check it for several days. I found this video and performed the bypass myself. Lo and behold it worked like a charm. You just saved me a substantial chunk of change sir, and you have my appreciation and my subscription. Keep doing what you do.

    A good video...
    I did see a clear picture of where exactly the wires are in the plug.
    On my car there are 2 black wires both have different colored dots on them. I couldn't find a pinout of the C plug with the colored wires... I suspect my crank sensor is failing and everything else has been replaced.. I have intermittent misfires on all cylinders when I get it to run, then crank no start for a couple of days. Thanks

    i have a crank no start issue on my 2000 CRV. This happened after a power loss/ stalling / intermittent start occurrence 5 months ago and i've failed to figure it since. I have spark, compression, fuel to the rail and all the injectors are clean and spraying just fine. The PGMFI relay is fine. the distributor is new, the timing is on. Could it be crank sensor related and could bypassing it get this wee lemon going?

    Wondering if you could help, 97 CR-V I've had it for a while it was my daily driver. It threw P0335 Crankshaft sensor A code and so I replaced the sensor but the code is still there, I even proceeded to do this crank sensor by pass and its still popping up even if I clear it. Could it be the distributor at this point? I thought for sure doing the bypass would get rid of the code. I checked again after and it's still p0335 popping up after I attempt to erase it. No other codes.

    That's a cool trick to know but I don't see how bypassing the crank sensor was going to keep the car running? The cam sensor inside the distributor is all that it needs? I have a 99 CRV that I'm not getting any spark from. I changed the coil and the ICM and I'm getting a signal from the ignition input Y/G wire. I'm going to be doing this bypass to see if it fixes this problem. No codes showing.

    Only one problem, if the timing belt brooke, the computer will not shut the engine off and will keep running and damage the valves for sure, you can use that option for short time to drive the car home or to the shop to repair it as soon as possible. Dont drive too long with that.

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Před 2 lety +2

      Ummm, I have used this method for years. It will run without this sensor connected, so to say that this sensor will turn the engine off if the timing belt failed would be incorrect. Also, I have replaced NUMEROUS broken b20 timing belts and not had a single bent valve.

    I have a 2001 Honda CRv and it suddenly started running like crap. surging, tach stopped working, engine light came on went to Autozone and had the code come up as P0336 CKP sensor A circuit range/performance. I was told I needed a new distributor. Is this correct? could I replace just the sensor instead of the whole distributor?

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Před 2 lety

      You can't really just replace the sensor in the distributor. A distributor replacement would also be my recommendation.

      @@hondaresource I had a feeling I would have to replace the distributor. 10 months ago I had the same problem with same code and I bought a new distributor. ran fine till now. Being I recently had the timing belt replaced I thought there was a problem with the timing belt install {like not being in exact time} but the car would start right away after the install, then the engine light came on and had the P0339 code sensor A. The distributor has a 2 year warrantee so gonna contact the seller to get a replacement

    Hey Phil. Out of place question but I'm considering adding a lift kit ( 1 inch front & 2.5 rear) would I need to alter the suspension?

    Could I use this for my P1337 code or do I have to change the sensor?

    I have a 2000 honda crv timing belt went and motor turned to junk. Got an integra motor with no crankshaft sensor, do i have to bypass it or is this only to get rid of the annoying engine light?

    • @hondaresource
      @hondaresource  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. Just bypass it and you should be good to go

      @@hondaresource one more question...we just replaced the pcv valve on the motor. We purchased a pcv valve for the original 2000 honda crv motor will that work or do we need to get it specifically for the jdm integra/honda motor? We assumed it would be the same but now that it has been changed it does a quick jump every once in awhile and the car doesnt have much go or is that more a fuel issue?
