The reason Captain America looks the same after 70 years is because his body was frozen and preserved in ice after he crashed in the Arctic Circle/North Pole and no one found him for 70 years. The saddest part of this movie for me was missing out on his date and life with Agent Carter since 70 years has passed

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm 54 so the end of WW2 was barely 25 years removed for me. I think younger people might have trouble relating to how things were back then possibly?
News was either provided in print or in theaters before and after the feature film itself as an example.

The scary thing about HYDRA is a number of the weapons you see in this movie, the Nazis actually had in WWII. One was the massive tank you see Captain America blow up; it was known as the Ratte; a tank large enough to crush trees and houses while being equipped with the cannons you see on a battleship. The reason it wasn't mass produced was Germany was in short supply of materials such as oil, and the tank was far too heavy to be transported by train, which resulted in it being cancelled by Albert Speer.
The other was the Amerika bomber, which is what Red Skull's plane was based off of. Germany wanted to create a bomber that could cross the Atlantic and bomb the East Coast. It was destroyed in 1943.

@@richardstephens5570 A number of "Nazi super weapons" were in line for production, but were scrapped when the Soviets were pushing them out of occupied territories. The Nazis often destroyed their weapons rather than let it fall into enemy hands; from the battleship Bismark to the Schwerer Gustav railgun to the V-3 cannon. And while thankfully the Uranverein wasn't close enough to build an atomic bomb, the fact Nazi Germany was involved in the race to possess and use one is downright scary.

The actor who plays Red Skull in this movie is Hugo Weaving, who you may remember as the villainous Agent Smith in The Matrix and the elf Lord Elrond in Lord of the Rings.
The actor who plays the scientist who gives Steve the super soldier serum is Stanley Tucci. Forget if he's popped up on this channel or not, but he's great in everything he's in. Does some fantastic voice work as Herb Kazzaz on the Netflix series Bojack Horseman.
The Colonel is Tommy Lee Jones, who was the Sheriff in No Country For Old Men, a great actor known for playing straight-talking hardasses, save for particuarly goofy turn as the Batman villain Two-Face in 1995's Batman Forever where he teamed up with Jim Carrey as the Riddler.

They're all strategy and military books, like he's been studying to be an officer. My take now is that he started studying both before being recruited and during base camp. And the serum makes you more of what you are, so his natural intelligence is heightened, as well as his strength.

There's a couple actors from Game of Thrones in this. Walder Frey was in the beginning, in the tombs. And Lady Margery was the blonde that kissed Steve before Cap got his shield.

I'm one of the people that kept begging you to start the mcu. I knew once you got into it you would be hooked. The jump off don't really get started til the winter soldier but the avengers is a blast.

In the comics, Captain America rescues young Magneto from a concentration camp. At the time of filming the early MCU, Marvel Studios didn't own the rights to X-Men or Spiderman. All of their stories were intertwined really well, unfortunately we missed the chance to see them combined during their origin stories.

There's so much I wanted to see just during the WWII time period with Cap. We got some Howling Commands but I really wanted to see Cap with the Invaders but there was an Easter Egg for the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond, at the Stark Expo. Could have seem Namor with the Invaders. Could have had OG Black Panther before T'challa. Could have had Cap and Bucky meet up with Wolverine in the Pacific side of the war. So much of that era could have been seen if the rights hadn't been split up to different studios.
